Apple, preferably not terribly sweet. [ He's more absent minded sounding about the flavor. There's a bit of warmth when he talks next- ]

Mostly untouched by humans - it is a little hard to ... spread everywhere when most of the wildlife is aggressive and occasionally three times your size.

Apples are my top choice, too. Any kind, depends on the mood.

I've recently begun to enjoy them cooked. Didn't have much time to do so prior.

[ Because he didn't have a oven, and eating them raw was much faster than cooking, and when you're hungry, eat then is the better option. ]

It does for most. I rarely ran into difficulties traveling, but I have been made aware that is incredibly unusual.

Cooking them with cinnamon can't be beat.

Oatmeal cookies, but with apple slices and small chunks of caramel are also very good.

They do not pick fights with me. It is possibly related to how I understand animals, but I do not know how they can tell.

Very true. Perhaps whatever it is about me that makes it so I can understand them, makes them see me as some sort of wildlife, just a strange one.

I'll keep an eye out for the stuff.

That, or they can tell you understand them, and don't see you as a threat because of that.

That, and if you understand them, there's less fear. They pick up on that.

So unless you're trying to hurt them, they'd have no reason to attack.

They must be particularly sensitive to fear, then. Others do not travel, for the risk of attacks. [ Or are adrenaline junkies and travel for the risk. Or were paid for it. ]
