Has anybody else gotten some personalized cola bottles from the sponsors? I mean, they are clearly meant for me, but my name is misspelled on a few of them, and then... there's this one.

[Simon turns it toward the camera: it has the infamous "you tried" star... with Simon's face on it.]

I got a gold star for... what? Dissecting sentient creatures? Playing my part like a good television star? Being myself? Did I fail at whatever I tried to do?

[[OOC NOTE: This was just a fun idea I had- in the vein of Share A Coke bottles, the sponsors have decided to gift Fleet members with their own personalized bottles of soda. Except their names won't necessarily be spelled correctly, or the soda will have weird flavors, or be loaded with caffiene- be creative!]]

Unfortunately. Though I've gotta say, your gold star looks better than mine. [Stefan holds his up to the camera - it doesn't even have a proper gold star, just one of those "there was an attempt" stars. It's barely in the cutout of a star.

In fact, calling it a star is an insult to stars.] It's either this, or bottles with "Steven Salvadore." Or... [He squints.] In this case, both.

... Hmmm, that is a very poorly-done star.

I have one labeled Timon Sam. And one labeled Nomis Tam. It seems we may have gotten the factory imperfections.

I don't think I can even call it a star. [He shakes his head, setting the bottle down.]

If this is our sponsors' idea of a present, it's a pretty terrible one.

I agree. I am not sure some of the people on this ship even know what a cola is- I certainly do not drink it much myself. Too much sugar for my tastes.

If it even is sugar, and not that high-fructose corn syrup they like to sneak in sometimes.

I'd throw it out, but I think one of my crewmates'll actually drink it.

Or whatever alien approximation of sugar the sponsors have- things may not necessarily be the same as they are back home, after all.

That's true. Has anyone managed to figure out what kind of protein they've been feeding us?

[Right now, Stefan's thrilled that he doesn't need food to survive - because those definitely don't look halal.]

You know, I had never thought to analyze it before. It seems to be giving us all the basic nutrition we need, but I don't know anything beyond that- it may be wise to figure it out, though.

Just in case, right? I could take some of it into my lab [he's NEVER going to get over the fact that it's his] and see what I can find.

I'd do the same for the soda, but I'd rather not know the answer.

You have a lab? Impressive. I would be interested to hear the results if you do decide to do an analysis.

[He laughs.]

I am guessing the answer will be the usual- water, flavoring and sugar, sugar, sugar.

Well, the med lab on my ship. I'm technically the Paisley's lab support. ["Technically" because of his augment. Stefan doesn't have enough experience to confidently call himself such.]

Sure, I'll let you know. I might get bored enough to try one of these days.

Ah, I see- our ship has a medbay for that same reason, because of my augment.

[He nods.]

A nice project to pass the time between destinations, I would say.

Well, if you're also lab support, you should drop by sometime.

I've analyzed stuff before, but 21st-century tech isn't exactly the same as this. I keep thinking I'll break something.

I would definitely like to- I may be able to be of some more help, since I am from the 26th century myself.

Really? [a small sigh of relief] That'd be great.

Is the med bay similar to what you're used to? Or is it even more advanced than that?

Very similar to the one in the ship I traveled on, though of course hospitals and clinics tended to have better equipment since. It could depend heavily on the planet, though.

That makes sense. [Some day, he's going to get used to the idea that members of the Fleet have explored space. That day isn't today.]

Then I'll give you a call for sure. I don't know Atroma's replacement policy [for broken stuff, he means], but it can't be a generous one.
