[ action, video ] three of diamonds
[August 9th. Rogue’s birthday. This year, like practically every other year since her powers had awoken, Rogue had the same plan: Tell no one. She will celebrate - or she would try to - without any reason given. It was so much easier that way.
She applies the dark red lipstick that traveled with her, and does her best to dress up as well as she could with what she has bartered for, and spends an inordinate amount of time on her hair.]
Okay, Drift Fleet. Talk to me. Who’s got some spare coffee they’re willin’ to barter for?
[After - hopefully, oh please, yes - attaining her birthday wish, Rogue sets about to basically make the rest of the day as enjoyable for herself as she can. She borrows a shuttle and goes flying for the joy of it. Sure, it can’t go very fast or very far, but she is in space. There’s some joy to be found just in being there. And hey, she heard shuttles can even go under water. That’s got to be amazing, Today’s as good a day as any to check that out.
She’s not necessarily looking for company here, but she might not say no? Later on in the day, though, she will be looking for company. Usually she spends at least part of the day working, but not today. Today is all about browsing, eating, and oh man, if she finds a place that plays music she might not move from there until dark. Feel free to accost!]
Later that night
[Late that night, Rogue can’t sleep. The echos aren’t in her mind right now, they aren’t psyches, they’re memories. They’re the people that she misses so much her bones ache. She decides to follow up on her own advice and goes for a run by the beach. It's not enough, so she starts a more rigorous exercise routine, dropping down to begin with push-ups and carrying through to shadowboxing. Will she manage to complete her routine all alone?
Whether or not she gets through that uninterrupted, when she’s finished she goes to the journals… no. journals were in Luceti. In Drift Fleet, she goes to the comms. This transition was harder than she thought, but she hoped one thing would hold true: that she wouldn't be the only one up and zero dark thirty.]
So. Augments. Upgrades. What are the ones ya feel are most worthwhile? Where do ya pour your resources into on your ship? Are ya happy bein' a pilot, an engineer, or whatever? [A security officer. Just say what you're thinking, Rogue, gosh.] If you could pick any one of them, what would you pick?

We're a newer ship, so we've been pouring our upgrades into everything. Kitchen upgrades, recreation, the bunk... [He shrugs.] But I'm okay with my augment. I don't think I'd switch it for anything else.
video;
So you're spreadin' it around as opposed to focusing on any one thing?
video;
Pretty much. But if I could upgrade my lab, I'd do it in an instant. [He's not sure if it's possible to upgrade the lab, or if it's even necessary - he's just a giant science nerd at heart.]
video;
Oh, you're a lab - what, assistant? Tech?
video;
[Up until he became a vampire, at least. The blood thing kind of made it difficult.]
video;
S'like - an instant download of the things you wanted to study.
video;
[He leans in, as if he's going to tell a big secret:] Especially since I didn't finish applying to med school.
video;
...So, what, ya feel like that makes you unqualified or somethin'?
video;
[His tune may change if he ever has to heal someone with his augment, versus his own blood, but as of right now, the uncertainty's still there.]
video;
What kinda stuff is including in the lab?
video;
For medicine we need but don't have, either my Captains or I can order some in. [beat] Not sure how long it'll take to get here, though. Haven't needed to ask.
video;
The futuristic stuff - does your augment help with that?
video;
It's like... deja vu, I guess? You see it, you know it, but you've got no recollection of why you know it.
video;
video;
[With the exception of the time his shipmate took a ridiculously long nap. That was a little traumatic, but apparently normal for the Fleet?] I just don't like messing with it more than I have to.
video;
[It was, on reflection, kind of a nosy question - not the sort she would usually like answering, so not the sort she usually asked. But well, she was trying to turn over a slightly less abrasive leaf, so... she let it stand.]
video;
There's experimenting to be more familiar with it, and then there's being stupid and reckless. With medical equipment - and expensive supplies - I'd rather play it smart.
Sure, we can earn stuff while we're on planets, and we get cash based on ratings... but I don't know if it'll be enough if I break something. My crew doesn't exactly have maintenance.
video;
Might be easier ta find someone in the fleet who can fix some medical equipment than it would be to learn how ta use some of that stuff on the job. I mean, not sayin' you have to or anything, just... a thought.
video;
You're welcome to drop by anytime, by the way. Sounds like y'all don't have a medbay, so... if you ever need it, I figure it'd be better than nothing.
video;
video;
[There's a long pause before he realizes...] I'm Stefan, by the way. Don't think I ever got around to proper introductions.
video;
video;
["If you get what I mean." His grin kind of says it all - while he's not normally one for teasing or lame puns, he can't help himself this time.]
sorry for the delay, this tag was just so perfect I was like 'AH, WHICH RESPONSE TO CHOOSE???'
Also, this is a strange mixture of 'willing to laugh' and 'rabid protectiveness' she feels. Because it was one thing for her to laugh at her captain, it was an entirely other thing to laugh at her captain with someone she just met.
Still, Stefan's been nothing but nice, so she's willing to... well. Wait. Before going rabid. Her tone's wry but carries a slight hint of 'careful now' to it.]
Ya know, I might've heard that a time or two, myself.
flgdjkfl no worries, it's all good!
He can catch that "careful" bit loud and clear, but he keeps his voice light--] You and everyone your Captain knows.
[more seriously:] He's a great guy, though. I'm glad he's got you around on his crew.
