[ Nyssa is just wandering the hallways, silently — only the minute swish of her League uniform to announce her steps. The place is quiet, good for meditation, except she walks in during the adhaan and promptly pulls her hood over her head. When Stefan is done, she peers at him. ]

« You speak Arabic?​ ​»

[Stefan glances right back at her, folding the prayer rug carefully.]

« Yeah. My family's from Jordan. ​»

[As he sets the rug away, he motions for her to come in. The room's open for everyone, after all - and there's even a nook for her shoes, should she accept the invitation.] « But not every Muslim speaks Arabic, so... that's a bit of a double-edged question. »

[ Shoes in the nook, she sits, cross-legged. Empty scabbards off and placed to one side. ]

« I only asked because you don't have a foreigner's accent. » [ a beat ] « I am half-Arab, on my father's side. »

Ah. [He feels like he should be more bothered about the scabbards, but they're nowhere near the strangest thing he's seen this week. Stefan pours her a cup of tea - banana-flavored, unfortunately - and holds it out for her.]

« You speak it better than me, I think. If we're going by technicalities, then I'm half-Jordanian. My dad's Italian. »

[Even more technically? He's only half-Jordanian because he's a reincarnation, but Stefan's too attached to his faith (and his new culture) to really let go.]

[ Banana flavoured tea is some awful punishment, but one wouldn't know by Nyssa's expression sipping it — perfectly serene. ]

« It was my first language, growing up. If you would like to practice, I would be honoured. I've not found anything else familiar on this fleet. »

[It's a popular punishment, judging from the boxes of it nearby. The alternatives aren't much better. Yet, as the offer's extended, Stef's smile only grows wider.]

« Thank you. That would mean a lot - because yeah, you're the first Arabic speaker I've met here. »

[But he'll apologize, as he gets his own cup of tea,] « Sorry about the tea. I've got Earl Grey back on my ship, but over here, it's whatever sponsors've sent me. Their taste is uh... it's something. »

[ She finishes her cup. One shouldn't speak ill of food, but, ]

« It's quite the — novelty. » [ a beat ] « I am Nyssa al Ghul. »

« Stefan Salvatore. It's nice to meet you, Nyssa. »

[Wait. Salvatore. Stefan holds out his hand, but he can't help thinking back about the name he'd used - he hasn't thought about himself as Salvatore in a while.

But it felt right now, so he'll roll with it.]

[ Nyssa does not really do handshakes. She eyes him, and then nods briskly. ]

« The pleasure is mine. How long have you been aboard? »

[It takes him a couple of seconds to think about it...]

« Six months? Something like that. What about you? »

« Two months. You are no closer to finding out anything useful about the Atroma? »

« Depends on your definition of "useful." I couldn't tell you how to get home, or our hosts' real agenda, but I know some of the corporations they've partnered with. »

[Mostly because they keep sending him free junk. Junk being the operative keyword.]

« Will you tell me of them? »

[He nods, listing the organizations he can name off the top of his head - including the ones who sponsored the tea cart in the room. It takes him a couple of minutes, as he counts along his finger bones (rather than use a whole finger), before he lets out a sigh]

« I think I got all the ones that sent me something. There are more, of course - but I've been getting sponsor gifts about once a month.

They went to a lot of effort, but uh, the stuff's... questionable. »

[ She frowns, listening intently. ]

« Questionable, how? »

[stefanged]

[He holds up the box - on the back, there are advertisements for other flavors. None of them very appealing.]

« Honestly? The quality's terrible. Sponsors mean well, but I wouldn't buy any of this in a store. »

« Your misery must prove entertaining to them, but I cannot fathom why. »

[stefanged]

[He furrows his brow, setting the box down.]

« Your guess would be as good as mine. The higher your ratings are, though, the more often you'll get gifts like these. »

[ She sniffs. ]

« Then I am not certain I wish to have high ratings. »

[stefanged]

« You'll have to tell me if you succeed. I've been trying to make mine drop for months. »

[It's a bit hard for him, though, considering how tangled his love life is.]

« Perhaps take a leaf out of my book. Do nothing of consequence. »

[stefanged]

« Maybe. » [He tilts his head] « I don't think the audience is here for my interfaith stuff, so... it's worth a shot. »
