A Wild Mingle Appears

Who: Crew of the S.S. Tourist + Visitors
Broadcast: N/A
Action: On the S.S. Tourist
When: Now, Drifting Week, through the month

[ Welcome, everyone, to the S.S. Tourist! Please enjoy your stay aboard out little ship - there's dinosaur meat courtesy of Allen and Sokka, at least four slugs (be careful, they're really Fenris' even if he won't say it), Winn's officially out of his comma, the coffee machine is behaving more or less (Kirk has poetry for you to sweet talk it if you need it). All aboard! ]

[Fenris arrives very shortly after, his greatsword slung over his back in case it was actually needed. Kirk sounds serious after all. As such, he'll be glancing over at all the exits, all the corners and places where some crazy assailant can dive out to them.

...Of course there's none. So he exhales, moving to stand on the group periphery as always.
]

...This doesn't look like an emergency.

Yeah, of course. Do you know what I'll be looking for? IT all looks like steel and wires to me.

All over that.

[ he nods at jim. a jamming device? that's right up his alley. the timing is incredibly suspicious to him - it feels like a smoke screen, something to distract him, keep him from focusing his energy on the right trail, but he can't just dismiss it offhand either. the atroma is good, he'll give them that. they're very good. ]

I'd start looking around communications, that's those panels over there - [ he nods towards them. ] it's alien tech so I can't really tell you what should be there but - try looking for something that doesn't belong, something that slightly sticks out, something that seems to have a different composition than the rest of the panel. If that doesn't work my best suggestion is we go take a look at one of the ones found or we rip out the paneling and start digging manually.

I know very little about the technological aspects of the ship. It isn't exactly something I'm naturally familiar with.

[Even in Exsilium, he could make the pads work but not understand if they were acting irregular or not. He's good at hitting things very hard and making things very dead. That's pretty much it. ]

I do not understand why anyone would be surprised by these existing. Nor would I be surprised if we have one of our own. The entire point of this debacle is that we are being observed for the entertainment of others, correct? Be it Atroma or someone else, we're already being observed.

I'll keep an eye out for it, then.

[ so many questions are pushing each other in and out of the spotlight. if it's not the atroma, who else had access to all their ships? how long have these devices been there? the last planet they were on was technologically primitive - or maybe that's just what they wanted them to think, so their guard would be down? he can't trace the cameras' signal back to its origin because he can't find the cameras, but can he trace this? the problem with that is to trace the signal he would have to leave it connected, and if jim's right then the moment the atroma see what he's up to they could pull the switch and leave them stranded. ]

If that's the objective, we need to check the shuttles, too. If this is meant to strand us, there'll be a kill switch on them too.

I think I can do that.

[And this is where Fenris' seniority helps a little. He's not used to being the one in the group to actually be able to offer helpful information. There's a first time for everything, he supposes. ]

There are others who have an interest in us. A group which have attacked the Fleet on two occasions now. The first they were fended off, with quite some damage to all the ships, how much depending on if they had shields, or the ability to fight back. The second time, they pushed us into a nebula, where we all lost power for a short time- which caused a few malfunctions to ships and augments for a while after that.

What is strange is when we were at our most helpless, they just...left. We have seen nothing of them since. It's been almost a year.

Got it.

[ and unless there's something else, she'll head out ]

[ yeah those wheels are still turning because - how do they know those are other groups? how do they know that the atroma's weren't just trying to stir up whatever sick game they're playing by sending something after them? the fact that they backed off when they had their prey cornered just seems to prove that theory to him. the atroma want to mess with them, but not dispose of them.

not yet, anyway.

but he'll explore that problem later. right now, he's clear on his role. go check out the shuttles with jim.

nodding, he picks up his tools, and like kara unless there's something else - he'll head to check out the shuttles. ]

[It's okay, Winn, Fenris will answer all your questions succinctly and grouchily. For now, he inclines his head, showing he understands. Besides, being close to the screens means he'll be close to the ship's defence systems- should the worst happen. ]

I'll let you know if I see any changes.
