Mama Knows Best
Who: Lailah and YOU
Broadcast: Video; Fleetwide
Action: Marsiva's Hospitality Deck
When: 9/7, after that bull ship went down
[When Lailah wakes up to strange and extremely unfamiliar surroundings, she feels disoriented and confused about everything. However, those feelings take an immediate backseat as she bolts upright with a gasp, hand clutching at her heart. She looks sick and in pain. Her eyes dart around the room frantically as she scrambles to stand up from the cot.
She knows this feeling. She’s sensed it so many times in the people around her, and on a handful of occasions from her own former Shepherds. Paradoxically, this is a sensation that’s entirely new, too. Someone she never in her wildest nightmares thinks she’d ever feel it from....]
Sorey…?
[Her words are a horrified whisper. Lailah feels that she has a pact with Sorey again, a Shepherd and dear friend she hasn’t seen in a long, long time, now. She’s not sure how, but the fire seraph isn’t going to question it for the time being. What’s more important is that she’s sensing it from both Sorey and...Mikleo, but she can’t be certain. Lailah’s sure that one of her Sub Lords has been corrupted, though, and if it’s Mikleo, then...she wonders which one fell first.
Ultimately, it’s not important.
The fire seraph runs out of the room. She sprints down the hall, looking in every door to see if she can find Sorey. He needs her, right now. Lailah’s heels are a constant click-click against the floor as she barely slows down in her search. She goes over every room she can access twice, trying to make sure she hasn’t missed him. Eventually, Lailah returns to her room, scared and worried but not for herself. Her attention is totally on Sorey and what she can only assume is Mikleo. If one falls, then the other will surely follow or die trying in the attempt to help the other.
Then, Lailah notices that there’s some kind of strange device in the room. It might be nothing, but...there’s a chance, however small, that it might be something used to communicate with other people. Even if it’s not, even if nobody will be able to see or hear her, Lailah has to try. She needs to do everything she can for two people who are precious and irreplaceable to her.]
Please, does anyone know where Sorey is?! He has brown hair, green eyes, and wears feather earrings! He’s in trouble and I need to get to him as soon as possible!
[And now she waits. Silent. Praying. Praying to Maotelus and the other Four Lords to please please please keep him safe, keep him able to be purified. Lailah doesn’t want to lose Sorey to malevolence, too. He doesn’t deserve that fate. He doesn’t deserve to die in some unfamiliar world. Neither does Mikleo, though the fire searph fears that it’s too late for the younger seraph. She prays that the other Sub Lords are also safe and well, not wanting to lose them, either.
Please, please, they deserve a kinder fate than this.]
{OOC: please note that she probably won't be seen/heard by normal humans. any questions about it, though, pls PM me!}

I know you can't get off the ship any time soon, but... ["Is there anything else we can do?" seems utterly meaningless. So he just goes for the truth,] How can you tell that he's in trouble?
video;
I'm Sorey's Prime Lord. Through our pact, he becomes my vessel and shields me, and other seraphim in pact with me, from outside corruption as long as he remains pure. However, if he becomes corrupt and falls to malevolence, it will travel to us as well. That's how I can sense it in this case.
[Lailah looks more than a little troubled by it, and also looks a bit sick.]
The only thing I can't tell is where he is because he's too far away from me.
video;
So you're from their world... [He sighs, his shoulders growing heavy,] I haven't seen either Sorey or Mikleo in a while. But Mikleo also said this current solar system had too much malevolence for his comfort...
Um, once you get off the Marsiva, would you be able to pinpoint him better?
video;
That may have contributed greatly to it, and certainly it's going to add to his power right now.
[At the question, the fire seraph nods firmly.]
Absolutely. Once I'm on the same planet as him, I should be able to better locate Sorey. However...that's only if I can keep up the pact by that time. [She glances away, crossing her arms as she thinks.] This is going to be a double-edged sword. While I can locate him through the pact, Sorey will still hold the powers of a Shepherd. Not to mention, if I'm not careful, Mikleo won't be the only one you'll need to worry about.
[It's going to be a fine line to walk.]
video;
[Yikes. Stefan's trying to picture this, but honestly? He's only heard of Mikleo, and now, Sorey's Prime Lord (Lady?).)]
I'll do what I can to help, but uh - this is a bit beyond me. Even Mystic Falls didn't deal with malevolence on a regular basis.
video;
[Lailah nods and tries to give him a smile. It just comes out small and sad.]
That's more than I can ask. I'll do what I can to answer any questions, as I'm afraid that's all I can do in the meantime.
video;
Only if you're okay with it. [He sits up a little straighter,] I've been assisting Sorey with his faith for the past few months now. He's told me bits and pieces, but I'm afraid my world's religion doesn't have the same principles.
video;
[There are some things she can't talk about, but she doubts they'll come up in this discussion.]
video;
[He pauses, rifling through his things for a notebook. Skimming it, he stops upon a question he's clearly had for a while:] So can I start by asking about malevolence? I know that it's related to people and conflict, and I know Sorey can technically purify it.
But I also thought he was kinda immune to it too.
video;
[Look she'll probably talk about a random dust mote and he'll Know. Lailah's really bad about it.]
No, he's not immune to it. Seraphim aren't, either, despite our purity. Malevolence is a complicated thing, but essentially it's a spiritual corruption that turns things into monsters. In the case of seraphim, we could eventually become a dragon.
[The fire seraph cups her cheek as she thinks.]
It isn't always brought about by negative emotions. Shutting yourself off from the world, a sense of justice that rejects the notion of other people having their own view, all of these things could bring malevolence into a person's heart. Even if all that started it was the desire to protect their country or family.
video;
Wait, a dragon?
[That can't be good. If Mikleo'd been complaining about the malevolence and then fell prey to it....]
So we're not just looking at Sorey going rogue, we're also looking at Mikleo-the-Dragon and potentially anyone else under his uh, what'd he call again, his domain?
video;
I believe that Zaveid has managed to escape their combined domain before that happened. He's still a seraph, I can sense that much.
[Dezel, on the other hand, she can't sense. For reasons that likely are going to give Lailah a headache when all's said and done.]
However, not just them, but any creatures or plants can potentially become hellions within their domain, especially if they stay in one place for a good length of time.
video;
[Note to self: seek this guy later. Stefan has a sneaking feeling Zaveid's got too much on his plate right now.]
No wonder you were looking for him. If it was just Sorey and potentially all the Seraphs, that would be one thing, but... [He hesitates,] I know Allen's already involved, and he would absolutely be the person to ask, but now I'll do everything I can to help you out.
