[Worf had already spoken with certain members of the fleet regarding blade and martial arts training. He'd also talked about weapons with Jill Valentine regarding types of weapons. Right now, he was within the training room of the SS Vanquish, pushing up some heavy weights above his shoulders. It was good to stretch his muscles once more. Letting the weights slowly to the floor, he addressed the network;]

For those who wish to train with me I am within the training room of the SS Vanquish. Sokka? You wish to learn how to wield your Bat'leth? I will teach you the ancient Klingon ways if you wish.

[He grabbed a towel and wiped his brow for a few moments.]

Jill? I am still interested in discussing weapons from your world. If you wish to spar with me I would welcome the challenge.

[Because Worf could face as many opponents as the fleet could throw at him.]

Ha ha, what a call out! I'm definitely not ready to tap out quite yet!

Not sure how I'd compare to what you might be used to, but I figure once we're familiarized with each others style we can work to strengths and weaknesses and try to form a real challenge?

I'm still Heron, but I can meet you on your ship or elsewhere. Haven't picked up a job yet so I'm free for the moment!

As for jobs, I am still unsure how the system works planetside. How long will the fleet be docked so that we might find employment? If we find a job I don't want the fleet flying off without me whilst I am down on the planet doing my job.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure about that, either. No shortage of temp jobs in busier areas it seems, but that's definitely a very real concern. If you find out, please fill me in.

Not sure how likely something like that would be. I mean I haven't done a ton of searching, but I definitely agree that I would think they'd want someone more permanent or with the credentials from their own world, right? Maybe I'm just picky.

[ Choppers, jets, airplanes, trains, cars... none of them really compared to this and gauging the time was something she had to get used to. She was always the first at the scene and the last to leave, so naturally being late doesn't exactly feel great to her. ]

Not straying too far from your normal work? Me, neither. At least at within reason. Would prefer to do a job I'm good at, after all.

I would prefer to do something I am good at. This place could do with more security. The crews are too light for my choosing.

[ Must be nice. But then again, you develop those kind of things and you simply can't be limited to your own planet, can you? She's happy to be settled on solid ground whenever she can be. There's an eerie beauty to space, but the vast emptiness of it all disquiets her.

Definitely don't disagree. Some of the people who've taken rank of captain certainly are ones I wouldn't choose to serve under, even begrudgingly. I'd probably pull mutiny on some ships, if I'm being honest with you.

What sort of training do you intend to do?

The art of martial arts and swordsmanship. The way of the warrior. You are interested?

[He's not going to deny this young woman training if she wants it. She might be stronger than she looks.]

I am. [ It seems almost exactly what she wanted. ] I've done a little hand to hand and I spent more than a year studying duelling with a rapier, but I only ever used a sword in battle when I had to. Does that matter?

Perhaps, we could work on your hand to hand if you think that is your weakest defence.

[He likes hand to hand, since it comes in handy when you are stripped of your weapon. No pun intended since Worf is a grumpy dude.]

It does not matter. What does matter is your strength of honour and the fire in your heart that burns for battle. You must want to train before even stepping into the room.

It's definitely my weak spot. If I don't have magic or I lose my rapier I'll probably end up dying.

A rapier is fine for thrusting motions but useless in many regards for battle. You want to use a stronger blade with a thicker metal for parrying blows.

[He might think rapiers are too finicky for him. Human weapons. Meh.]

I was taught it for duelling more than anything else. I used to have a proper sword, but the Atroma took it away from me.

[Guess what? An Elven guy just made him up some new Mek'leth. Now he can train for real.]

I must warn you that it will not be an easy task. Using a Bat'leth takes years of practice and you have to become the weapon to be able to use it properly.

It is like that, yes. You have to be at one with your weapon, so that you may truly master it's strengths as well as your own.

He might, I do not know! Maedhros will do as he will, in this regard. But I would not mind testing myself against you either, although the blades are different to what I know.

I would be honoured to fight against either you or your brother. Any warrior is welcome within the training room aboard the Vanquish. It has been too long since I have fought another.

[Since there are no Holosuites or decks aboard the ships. A real shame.]

What manner of weapon do you train in?

I would not call myself a warrior. [ He demurs with a smile ]

It has been long and long, since I had cause to fight in any great battle. I prefer dual blades, but I... sustained injuries that make it difficult to use my original style. I use a longsword, these days, although I can and often make use of hunting knife as well. I can no longer draw a bow, but long ago I used a spear.

Dual blades are a good way to hone both your sword arms and they make you quicker on your feet, since you have two weapons to focus on.

[That's why he prefers Mek'leth.]

Why can you not draw a bow?

What's a Bat'leth?

A Bat'leth is an ancient Klingon two-handed weapon used in battle and also to decide things between our people. It has been used in ancient customs for generations and is a formidable weapon.
