[A new ship and a bunch of new people. Some have been waiting on the Marsiva to be sorted for longer than others. We don't have a cook. Or an engineer. Or even one of the comms guys.

We have... girls. A bunch of cute girls and one cute boy, who is the pilot. This'll be interesting.]

[The captain is a girl with a giant pink bow on her back. She's dressed more like a ninja than a captain, and she is still trying to figure this all out. She prods at the dessert pudding, which now has confetti in it, and makes a face.

There's a nice chair though. She leans against it for a second, then addresses the others.]

I guess... I'm the captain. I don't really know what that entails, so it'll be a-- a learning experience.

Couldn't we have a nicer name...? "Vanquish" isn't very cute, is it?

I think it's pretty cool myself. It sounds like something you'd ride into battle. [She's a little bit of a tomboy. Slightly. Maybe.] But... we could decorate it if we find something we like.

[ *^* decorate! ]

I'm on it, captain!

I had a couple little stuffed animals and things in the place I lived before... I wasn't able to bring them. I don't think anyone would complain either.

If you see something we can use to make food, grab that too.

Like pots and pans? Hmm... [ she braces her hands on her hips, and then nods, almost to herself. ]

Okay! I'll make a list!

[fujibayashi]

Yeah, we definitely need some of those. And uh, probably... something to actually cook. Real meat and vegetables.

Thanks. [She grins a bit.] I'll see if I can make it up to you.

[Clay is at least glad that there's someone on the ship he sort of kind of knows, or at least has seen before. And it's the captain too! Which he thinks is super rad.

But you're going to pass up the pudding just because there's confetti in it? Wow. Wow.

Well he's just gonna pick out some pieces of confetti to get some of that. Only about a mouthful, though; gotta maintain a good diet. Plus, there's two other girls who might want some of it, too.]

You'll be fine! We're all here to back you up no matter what!

[Clay leans against the table, arms crossed and a smile on his face. He might not be too confident about what being a captain is, or even how to pilot this ship in particular, but he's sure they'll get the hang of it.]

At my job, our captain oversaw us all and made sure we were doing our work. He was pretty much the voice of the space center, the person everyone thinks of when they hear the name of it. [...] He also got to ride around on a cool segway.

[fujibayashi]

[Sheena glances at him eating the pudding anyway... she might be judging a little. It reminds her of Lloyd, honestly. He's so eager though, and enthusiastic, and she's not-- used to that. So regardless of his weird eating habits she actually blushes a little bit and looks away.]

Oh, um, thank you. I'm the next in line to become chief of my village, but it's not quite the same thing...

[At least Clay has some experience.]

I don't think I have that kind of presence. And I don't know what a Segway is... but I'll do my best.

[geonomy]

[Chief of the village? Holy - Clay raises his eyebrows at that, jaw dropping, the smile turning bigger - Is Sheena one of the coolest people ever or what here?]

Whoa, that's awesome! See, you can think of this like... like training to be chief when you get back! [He turns a little more toward her, arms dropping to let his hands hold the edge of the table instead.] Sometimes, all you've got to do is tell yourself you've got that presence, even if you don't really believe it. Pretty soon, you'll start to feel it, too.

Say it with me. [He clears his throat, pushes himself away from the table, and holds up his fists as he says in a louder voice,] I'm Sheena Fujibayashi, and I'm the captain of this ship!

[fujibayashi]

[She is... not expecting that reaction. He's so enthusiastic about everything, goddess, she's got a cheerleader now and she never asked for one.]

R-- right. I hope so.

[But then he starts into his Chords of Steel thing and she just stares. She... doesn't say it with him. Not at first. Her expression is dubious.]

I'm Sheena Fujibayashi. I'm the captain of this ship. [She's not yelling that.]

Come on, you've got to say it like you mean it!

[Thankfully, he doesn't get any louder. But.]

I'm Sheena Fujibayashi! I'm the captain of this ship!

[She sighs. He's obviously not going to give up on her even if she doesn't feel very... enthused about this activity... but he's also really nice and she doesn't want to let him down.

She takes in a deep breath.]

[fujibayashi]

I'M SHEENA FUJIBAYASHI AND I'M THE CAPTAIN OF THIS SHIP!

[geonomy]

[Yes... YES... YES!!!]

YOU'RE SHEENA FUJIBAYASHI AND YOU'RE THE CAPTAIN OF THIS SHIP!

[Sheena lets out a huge sigh.]

Phew. You know, I feel like that actually worked. How crazy is that?

[geonomy]

[Clay lets out a huge sigh himself, bending forward at the waist as if to emphasize it, then leans back again with his hands on his hips and a big grin.]

Not crazy at all! My best friend and I did that all the time back on Earth. [...] Not the captain part. But the yelling? That.

[fujibayashi]

[She laughs lightly.]

Hahah, yeah... I do my share of yelling, too. Mostly because my best friend's an idiot.

[geonomy]

What is it with best friends being idiots? I swear, it's a trait of being one. [And he's sure that Apollo would call him an idiot, too. ... Damn, he misses him already.] Whenever one of us would be feeling down, or not as confident as we should be, or whatever, we'd tell each other we're fine. Or, if I'm alone, then I'd say to myself that I'm fine. Maybe I'm not feeling it, but after yelling it like that? It kind of starts to work, you know?
