Broadcast: A very brief one
Action: On the Blue Fish. At your own risk
When: After everyone's back on their ships

Pre-broadcast action )

[What seems like an age later, she finally regains enough control of her emotions to send out one text to the fleet.]

To those who knew her, Leliana has gone home.

[That's all she sends. It's all that's needed. And with that heavy burden done with, Riona breaks out that champagne and the rest of her alcohol stash. She's been crying so much that the alcohol is mixed with salt from her tears. Vaguely she realizes she shouldn't be doing this, not when she's still so upset, but she doesn't care. What's the worst than can happen? Frankly, at this point, she doesn't care. She just wants it to stop, and that's gonna be found at the bottom of a bottle.

Those on the ship or who want to stop by can approach her, though don't expect a sunny welcome. Bringing booze might help gain entry.]

Though she doesn't entirely remember everything they discussed of the matter previously, she remembers enough to know how much of a proverbial minefield it is. And she was just as confused on some things as he was. Whether her additional decade of experience and life is going to help, remains to be seen.

    Who: Riona and you!
    Broadcast: Yep
Action: On the Blue Fish, if you want
When: Backdated to earlier this week because I forgot to post this earlier like an idiot

[Riona's back on the network, though thankfully she's considerably less annoyed this time around.]

Some of you may recall that Beverly Crusher and I mentioning running a black box theater on the Iskaulit, where others could put on performances and whatnot? Well, someone made the mistake of letting her and I loose in a shop that sold play scripts and the like, and we found one we thought would be delightful to put on.

It's called Captain Bree and Her Lady Pirates and it seems to be a musical comedy about some, well, pirate shenanigans. It sounds a bit ridiculous and quite fun. It's not a big production and it doesn't seem to be intensive in terms of set building and the like. But we wanted to gauge interest before we move forward with it. We'll need actors, of course - preferably if you can sing well enough - along with costume makers and set builders. If anyone wants to see the script, I managed to get a copy on this device so I can send it to you.

[She's rather proud of herself for figuring that one out.]

If enough want to do it, we can look into auditions and the like. Any empty roles we may just fill with people on this asteroid belt who might be interested. Please let either myself or Beverly know as soon as possible if you'd be interested.

This should be immensely entertaining, if nothing else.

    Broadcast: Yep
Action: On the Blue Fish (any visitors keep in mind, the locks are in place again so someone would need to let them on the ship)
    When: Tonight

[The video flickers on, panning to one very, very annoyed queen. Behind her and off to the side is a large crate. It's been opened, and if one looks carefully, they might see what looks like arms and legs flopped over the side. Riona begins opening a letter, her movements jerky.]

Lucky me, it's been so long since I've gotten one of these. They appear to be plastic... dolls, I suppose. You're supposed to fill them with air and they take shape. I highly doubt they sent all of these for me, and thus this broadcast. What their purpose is, though, I do not know. They seem a little large to be for children. This note should be enlightening, I think.

[Riona holds it up and begins reading:]

"For Riona and the other sorrowfully separated or single persons in the fleet-" It's going to be one of those kinds of drops, I see. "We sympathize with your frustration and separation. Have some of our top quality models, free of charge, for those nights where the loneliness just gets to be too much. And for you, Riona - after we saw your awakening from your coma and learned of your heartbreaking situation, we were moved. We created a special model, just for you. We think you'll find the likeness striking. We already blew it up for you, and it's ready for immediate... use..."

You - Maker's breath, are these for what I think they're for? [Riona shakes her head in disbelief.] And what did they mean by-

[Frowning, Riona drops the note and walks over to the crate. Rifling through it for a moment, she eventually goes "Ah, found it, I think". She seems to wrestle with something for a moment until, after a hard pull, she wrenches it free. Out comes a fully blown up doll, well within view of the camera. Those from Thedas might recognize a certain Fereldan king that Riona just so happens to be married to.

Riona's shock quickly turns to red-faced anger as she slams the doll back down into the crate. Her jaw tightens as she turns and heads to the device.]

    Who: Sansa Stark and you!
    Broadcast: Text, fleetwide.
    Action: Blue Fish and Iskaulit
    When: Today

Even the Fleet can be a harrowing and disquieting place at times, despite how fond we might become of our ships and our associates. I find I cannot escape the frayed nerves I felt during the raid last month. [ margaery might be gone, but even now sansa is taking cues from her braver friend. she writes in months, now, and not in moons. just as marge had done. ]

In times of trouble, what helps you feel most safe? Secure? I meditate -- but it's been helping little and less. [ ... ] Is it shameful and craven that I should rely upon my family and my fellow crew so much and so often? I fear that without them I would be all at sea.

Will a familiar face accompany me to the Iskaulit, today? I haven't been in ages and I miss the gardens.

    ( BLUE FISH )
[ today is one of sansa's better days. she's sitting in a common area with a bit of busywork stretched across her lap. ser allen had asked for some alterations to be made of his wardrobe, and she's found solace in this distraction. while she sews, she hums: old hymns from home. sansa hasn't done much singing in the more-than-a-year since her arrival, but it turns out her voice is sweet and accomplished.

she greets the crew when they pass by. heavens help us all, she smiles when they pass. ]

    ( ISKAULIT )
[ after a comfortable reconnaissance with an able escort, sansa returns to the iskaulit in the evening -- or for whatever passes as evening when you're sailing through the stars. she goes cloaked and with her heart set upon a more solitary visit to the gardens now that she's proven to herself she can step foot upon it again. but her communications device is gripped tightly in hand should she witnesses any lions while she prays -- kneeling in the narrow aisle of a garden that's more pragmatic than anything else. even so, it'll have to do.

and when she's done she steals her way through the quieter corridors on the iskaulit. she's such a rare sight in these halls that it wouldn't be unusual to mistake her for a newer member of the fleet. ]

[Once she settles on her choice of words, she flicks on her device. She sticks with voice for now, not wanting to startle anyone unnecessarily.]

    It seems that I’m awake.

[To those very familiar with her, they may notice a certain rougher quality to her voice, a sort of coarseness that wasn’t there before.]

Yes, yes, we all know the questions that come next: what did I miss? Has anything changed? And of course, how long have I been out? [A pause. Her tone deadpans.] I remember this place. The natives thought sudden introduction to their water to be the best way of acclimating us to their home. [Assholes.] So, it couldn’t have been for too long.

[There’s a sound, almost like a laugh.] How this place makes a mockery of time…

[Time. It’s not a luxury she has back home. Here, though, she has it in spades. It almost disconcerts her. It feels sort of wrong, that’s how unused to it she is now.]

If you so wish to see me in person, I’m on the bridge on the Blue Fish. Be mindful if you do, though. [A wry, humorless smile stretches across her face, and it’s evident in her tone.] It’s been awhile.

[And with that warning, she shuts the feed off there.]

    His tone is terse.]

I would like to welcome to the Fleet my brother and sister, Jaime and Cersei Lannister. They are out there, somewhere, amongst us all. For those of you who are close to me -- you know who these people are. To those from Westeros, here is your warning. For my brother and sister ...

[The smile on his face would have done Tywin Lannister proud.]

If you think about crossing me - if you think about going after any of my real family here, I will first verbally destroy you. If you cross me again ...

[He gestured to everything around him.]

Now now, sweet siblings. I know your tricks. I know all your dirty little secrets. I know everything, where every literal and figurative body is buried. So simply ... do not. If you feel the need to confront me - I have at least half a dozen friends who will gladly assist me in shoving you out through an airlock.

Margaery's gone home. [ he has no way of knowing that. she could have been kidnapped to another world, one where she would have no protective big brother to introduce her to superheroes and feminism, to embroider with her and teach her science. but he chooses to hang onto that thought, to believe that she's gone back to the family he knows she so desperately missed despite never letting her pain show. he clears his throat. ] If any of her friends wanna come by for a toast and some stories, I'll be on the Tourist all day.

[Leliana decided to make this with a purpose and an idea in mind. When the feed turns on, she can be found wearing some light armor and gloves, holding a bow in her hands.]

It has come to my attention that perhaps my expertise with a bow and other weapons might be useful, should the need to defend ourselves ever arise again. I reside aboard the Blue Fish as one of her security officers and I believe, by extension, it is my duty to not only defend the ship, but to make sure her inhabitants and those of other ships can defend themselves properly.

Should anyone with inexperience with knives or bows wish it, I am willing to lend my services. I extend this particularly to the women aboard the fleet, purely because it has come to my attention there are some who do not find base means of defense accessible to them.

    [Lookin' at you, Robb Stark.]

I do have some experience with a sword and shield, but I find myself willing to leave that in Riona Cousland's expert hands and I am sure she would be more than happy to lend tutelage in that realm of expertise should anyone ask her of it directly.

[She clears her throat a bit.]

There is a small matter of where I might find a suitable place to teach, but I will come to that when a decent interest is shown. Thank you, for your time, and I do hope others who feel eager to learn will come forward soon.

[ At first they were faint, such that she wasn't even certain that she heard them. But a mother knew her children's cries. They were distinct to her, even when they were only small babies. And though she knew in her heart that none of her children would sound like infants, still she heard them. And as time wore on they only got louder and louder, and the compulsion to find them grew more and more urgent. So in earlier stages, she'll simply stop at seemingly random points, listening intently. Later, she will find herself doing things like ripping up the deck plates, or trying to, growing more and more frantic. She may not recognize people that she should. And these moods are chaotic and come out of seemingly nowhere, so you might find her to be perfectly lucid as well. ]

I will find you, my sweetlings. Nothing will hurt you now.

    B. Closed to Robb, in the Iskaulit gardens

[The voices did not follow her here to the gardens. And though she was not given to praying in the godswood at home, preferring the ritual of the sept and voices raised in song, she felt compelled to seek the green space and it's quiet here and now. She has closed her eyes and is singing in her heart, seeking a calm she struggles to feel in any other way. And even here it is fleeting. Her words come out a mile a minute and she hands the communicator to Riona to control, so for a moment, you’ll mostly hear Beverly rather than see her.]

Here, Riona, you take this because I’m afraid I'll just make it entirely too shaky and then people might get seasick and we don’t want that do we?

[She suddenly appears in view of the camera, a little too close for comfort, waving at the fleet.]

Riona and I have a big surprise for you all!

[She steps back, arms open wide to reveal… An empty room on the Iskaulit?]

Surprise! [Riona laughs at her dumb follow up, the camera shaking a bit from her laughter.] It doesn’t look like much now, but pretty soon it’ll be something great. Right, Beverly? [She’ll happily let Beverly do the reveal if she wants, given how excited she is. Oddly so, but, hey… theater nerdiness brings out weird sides of people.]

Right! [Beverly claps her hands together.] We’re going to build… a theater! I know we have the movie theater already which is wonderful and such a good addition to the fleet but you know we’ve all had a rough month so Riona and I were talking and wouldn’t it be such fun to have a community theater? We could put on plays and concerts and talent shows and oh! Kitty! [She leans into the camera again.] I’m very sorry, I meant to answer your call to the network but I got distracted because well I mean [She gestures at herself] look at me.

[So she is at least aware of how ridiculous she is right now. That’s something.]

I think it’s a glitch in the augments maybe Sokka has it too we’ve both just been so busy! Anyway, Kitty I wanted to let you know I am a dancer as well and I think your idea for having dance classes is marvelous and you could absolutely use the theater if you ever wanted for performances!

[She dodges out of sight of the camera for a moment.]

Riona? Could you turn it a bit please?

[Riona does as bid, turning the camera to follow Beverly.]

That would explain his manic energy. And yours. And maybe that’s why poor Allen isn’t feeling well? Ah well, hopefully this will cheer everyone up. Because theater! [The camera is away from her, but the smile can be heard in her voice.] Something productive and good for everyone to focus on. And we’ll need… a lot of help. In both getting it started and continuing to run it and do things with it.

[Ah good, now Beverly is in bouncing around the room range!]

Yes! It’ll be a lot of work but it’ll be worth it! We’re thinking just a small black box theater - which if you aren’t familiar with those they’re not like traditional theaters with a big stage up front and a large row of seats and curtains and all that - though we could certainly have curtains if people wanted, it’d just depend on the performance but that’s the beauty of a black box is that it’s so adaptable! So basically [She runs to the middle of the room and spreads her arms wide.] we’d have a small platform in the middle here and [Now she dances in a circle around the edges of the room.] Seats all along here and they don’t have to be anything fancy just like folding chairs or something like that, things that’d be easy to move and then we’d need to make a catwalk area for lights and things and maybe a few moveable walls for scenery and then of course the whole room would be painted black!

    [Finally she takes a breath.]

Anything else you can think of Riona?

[Beverly can probably see the amused smile on her face as she watches her galavant around the room. And also, she makes a mental note to keep Beverly away from those beverages that make people more energetic. Caffeinated, she thinks the word is.]

You know much more about these “black box” theaters than I do, so I can’t speak much about their construction. But anyone who has a background in building and the like who wants to help out, we’d love to hear from you. And of course from anyone who’s interested in helping once everything is built. Actors, writers, set designers, costume makers, backstage crew… there’ll be something for anyone, I would think.

[And that’s the beauty of it, really.]

That’s all I can think of. And people can certainly use it for other purposes, too. It’d make for a good lecture hall or something of the like, too. So do let us know if you’re interested in helping. The more the merrier!

    [The First Battle]

[They come shooting out of the great dark. Guns blazing, no warning. The enemy ships are ragtag, mismatched, and cobbled together from spare parts. But that doesn’t make them weak. No-- years and years of scavenging have turned them into raiders, and they carry their scars with pride.

The battle is more aggressive than previous attacks against the Fleet. Nothing deters the raiders because they’re tough, and if they see a wounded ship floundering, they have no problems swooping in and boarding. Those crews will soon learn the meaning of teamwork if they want to bring the attackers down. They infiltrate the Iskaulit as well, just in case people try to hide there. At this point they are very, very used to tracking down women and children for their slave trade.

If asked why they’re doing this, the answer is simple.

Spare parts have to come from somewhere.

Don’t worry. Nothing on your ship, and no one, will go to waste.]

    [A Few Hours Later]

[The raiders are too strong and the Fleet is failing. After what seems like an eternity of warfare, static comes in, broadcasted to the fleet at large. Something or someone is hailing them…

The signal is untraceable and the video is complete static, but they tell the Fleet they are here to help. Ships come swooping out of the black and they open fire on the raiders. They number a dozen, maybe more, and the ships look eerily similar to the ones currently used by the Fleet, if not a bit older and battle-hardened. Their shielding and weaponry is much, much better, however-- and most of them have custom paint or other touches on their hulls.

They’re not invincible, however. A few may end up between a rock and a hard place when the raiders surround them.

Some older residents may remember this particular group of ships. They’re obviously helping out now, but there’s nothing stopping Fleeters from firing on their would-be saviors save a complete lack of weaponry. You do have a Security officer on board, don’t you? They’ll defend themselves by seriously injuring your ship, but they won’t destroy it for some reason. Small mercies.

The raiders soon realize they’re outgunned and jump ship, taking their dead with them. The intercepting fleet pulls back, too, and both parties vanish back into the dark as silently and swiftly as they came. There’s a lot of cleanup to do whether your ship is disabled or you’re preparing to tow someone else.

Hopefully, the people who saved you don’t change their minds.]

[It hadn't struck Riona right away, what today was. In the morning, she'd gone about her usual business, just like any other day. In fact, she may never have realized it at all, if she hadn't just idly thought about it. It hit her rather hard, leaving her almost breathless for a moment.

Today marks one year since she arrived in the fleet.

A lot of emotions come with it, ones she struggles with throughout the rest of the day. It's what eventually drives her to the Iskaulit, fighting with her thoughts as Kiter meanders alongside of her, enjoying the exercise. Riona finally decides to maybe try the network and get her thoughts out that way, rather than just mulling over them.]

I find myself observing the one year mark of my arrival to the fleet. [She falls quiet a moment, lips quirked to one side.] It's been quite a year. To those who have observed this anniversary for themselves: did you find yourselves feeling rather mixed about the whole thing? Personally, I can't quite figure out how I feel about it, quite honestly.

Maybe I should simply accept that, that there aren't going to be much in the way of words. [A huff.] Maybe what I need more than anything is a distraction. I've spent the better part of the day chewing it all over in my mind. If anyone has an idea for such, I welcome suggestions. Alternatively, if company is wanted, I'm walking with my dog around the Iskaulit.

[Have a redhead nun/rogue on your feed, fleeters. Someone took a bit of a nap this week and now has new memories? And also questions.]

I apologize if my absence was noticed by my crew or those I speak to in the Interfaith Center. It seems Atroma enjoys putting me to sleep for long periods of time - though the question is "How long?" I suppose. Should I expect any ill effects from repeated instances like these?

[Though she was a bit groggy waking up.]

It seems time passed much more quickly while I was asleep. It felt as if I had returned home again and time had passed there as it normally does here. Two years passed there while it feels as if no time has passed here at all.

    [Private message to Riona]

It seems the Inquisitor saw fit to elect me as Divine in Justinia's place, since you and I last spoke.
