[ Video, Action ] Deuce of Clubs

[A is for Unintentional Broadcasting (or action, if anyone's there)]
[When Rogue wakes on the Marvisa, the video picks up on her suddenly convulsing. It has been months since she has experienced her powers in full, and her mind is thrown into sudden, loud, throbbing pain. She is surprised that the internal chaos is not as bad as it has been, and after a moment she realizes why: she only has three psyches left, and they are all more or less friendly. After taking a few moments to settle down, Rogue sits up. She is woozy, distracted and disoriented. She goes to stand and overbalances, the missing appendages on her back throwing her off enough that she trips on a sheet and falls gracelessly to the floor.]

Oh for the love of -[she can hardly believe it, she reaches to her back to confirm: her wings are gone.]- what in the Sam Hill--

[At this point, the Network decides that further following Rogue Walking Around to Get her Bearings will be boring, and shifts to something else. Later, she comes back to the communicator not only to answer any return comments that her embarrassing swan dive might have drawn, but to address the fleet as a whole.]

[B is for Delibrate Broadcasting]
[While the communicators aren't set up like Luceti journals, Rogue gets the general idea. She sends out a video post.]

Uh - hi. My name's Rogue, an' I guess I'd like ta speak to the Welcoming Committee. I'm hopin' to get a little bit more than the 'Lost in Space' vibe up here. Speakin' of... anyone have any idea how to turn this music off? I swear it's killin' brain cells.

[A pause. Her gaze shifts downward, and she seems to be bracing herself before she looks back up and addresses the camera with a small smile and a wry, if slightly hopeful light in her eyes.]

Guess I should throw some names out there, just to see if anythin' will stick. Anyone ever hear of... a group called X-Men, say? [A gloved hand reaches up to wrap around a deep green crystal pendent hanging from her neck.] Or a place called 'Luceti'?

[Another awkward pause. She's got a LOT OF EMOTIONS right now, okay, and she's not sure what else to say or do. She kind of hates throwing her hopes out to space like this, but what other choice did she have, really? She gives the camera another quick, small smile.]

[Rogue stretched. She was standing on a narrow railing in the Hospitality Deck - just standing. She hadn’t tried walking yet. She was still not used to this strange feeling of being without her wings. Her balance was off when she moved, when she stood… it would take her a few days to get used to it, maybe longer. She’d get used to it, though. If there was one thing all her experiences had taught her, it was that you could adapt to anything.

Her wings. Her wings were gone. She'd been left with two narrow scars running a lurid red down her back. She could access Logan and heal them, easy, she thought. But right now they were a physical reminder that she hadn't lost her mind completely. She could use that. She felt… oddly adrift (ha ha, and she couldn’t even blame Kurt for that). Even when she’d come into Luceti, Kurt and Kitty had been there. She didn't know what to do. She was alone and afraid... and already lonely.

She took her first step forward and wobbled, much to her frustration, and then another step. She didn’t fall - not yet - but it would be all right if she did. Rogue knew how to fall. She’d just take it one step at a time.]

[Rogue looks at the mass produced food a little more skeptically, tilting her head to the side as the names of some of the dishes she didn't recognize just... slid into her brain. Huh.

She decides to take them, just to see if they taste like what she thinks they ought to taste like.]

Guess I'm glad ta have it, whatever it is. The food and the news. Not much worse than bein' in the dark and being hungry at the same time.

[She glances at Zessica, listening.]

[Woah, she definitely knows this guy! She'd only seen him a few days ago at the Item Shop... but, no. Gawd, this was going to be weird.]

Heh, don't worry 'bout that. [The 'making her feel welcome' part. While she couldn't say that wasn't something she really cared about - it was - it was also not the highest place on her list.] It's nice to meet ya, Aang. That's right kind of you.

[Please hold. Rogue is focusing on

Also, red is new. Blue people? She's seen a lot of blue people. And blue furry people. She's even seen a few green people. But red is different. She wonders what Kurt would think... or Beast Boy. Obscurely, she thinks it would make them happy, and that makes her smile at him just a bit.

...then he gets to his name.]

The Vision? What vision? Is that a code name or something? [...people in glass houses, Rogue. She shakes her head at her own rudeness, because what, this guy has done nothing to deserve it and she should know better, and hurries to try and ameliorate it.] I'm sorry, that was really personal. I was just taken by surprise. You don't have to tell me if ya don't want.

[That statement earns a laugh from her. Once she's done filling her tray, she nods towards a table. They should at least sit first.]

Apparently we're now part of a galactic reality show. [Zessica sticks her fork in some noodles and takes a bite.]

[Hey, at least her first reaction isn't "wow you're red". That's a plus. But he's fully accustomed to being considered unusual, so he doesn't mind.]

As I appeared in more than one vision before I was created, it is the name I was given. Are you familiar with androids?

[Not everyone is, so he has to ask.]

[It's ~~Happy Fun Ball~~ a cheerful woman with extremely pink hair.]

Hi Rogue, I'm Wrath! Um, I don't think there is an actual welcome committee. It's like giant space assholes running this I guess?

I haven't heard of Luceti. I'm from Proles, which is on Zeus, maybe that's a planet you know? We're a pretty young earth colony, but maybe...

[HERE'S A... not familiar face popping up, a guy with messy black hair just barely held back by the visor on his head.]

Hey hey! Sort of the welcoming committee here, though it looks like you've already got people helping you out. [Good to see, at least!]

I'm Clay. If you've got any other questions, I can try answering them!

We're depressingly welcoming committee-less. We really need to work on one of those.

Anyway, sorry, I've never heard of either of those things, but if Luceti is one of those 'kidnap you from your home world' kind of places, then there might be someone from here who's been there. We've got a couple of refugees from those places here.

[ She seems calmer now, and it prompts a playful, ]

I'll make a point of being attacked by protein paste souffle. Y'know. I'm not sure what actually goes into the food.

[ You learn not to ask, when it's that or starving in a war. ]

[Rogue just shakes her head, still smiling a little.] Then I'm guessin' your ship doesn't have a cook. If that's really all there is ta work with, I'm sure people'd talk about it. [Heck, she's sure she would.]

...I mean. Is there even coffee?

[This is also a Very Important Question.

And this distraction from everything else is absolutely lovely.]

[ Her smile is so sweet, he can't help but reflect it at her. ]

[ grumbling, ] There's something that tastes like coffee all right.

[...okay, not the strangest or the worst news she could have heard, but Rogue still does a double-take.]

What? Really?

[She glanced around the spotless ship. She always knew the Malnosso observed them in Luceti, but this was a whole other level of hair-raising weirdness.] A reality show of us doin' what, exactly?

[Rogue blinks. And blinks again. Okay so... created and android and... hmm.

Her tone is a little cautious, not wanting to offend again, and has a touch of absence to it, as she is trying to piece together what Vision is telling her to her current knowledge base.]

...can't say I've ever had the pleasure of meetin' one before. I've heard of the concept, though.

[That is a very nice smile, Jim, but the lack of coffee, true coffee, is terrible news. This is a girl who doesn't even call 'decaf' coffee coffee, it is just referred to as 'that other stuff' or occasionally 'worse than tea.']

...well. [said in the tone of someone very determinedly trying to make the best of things.] That sucks. [...and then Rogue gave up trying to make the best of not having coffee.

Her gloved hand rubs at her augment absently. She decides to start walking toward the mess hall again, her gait still decidedly off.] So, on the subject of things that ain't great... anything else I should know about this place?

[First, a red person named Vision. Now, a bright ball of sparkly pink cheerfulness named Wrath. Rogue was starting to realize that she needed to resign herself to not having the weirdest name in a place.

...why the heck was someone this cheerful named Wrath? Did she just go as psycholy scary when she was angry as she is brightly cheerful now?]

Uh, no. Sorry. Must be a different Earth or a different time. Where I'm from, we're not anywhere near makin' space colonies.

Nice ta meet you, Clay. [She gives him a small smile. And, well, her 'where the heck am I' question has been answered along with 'what the heck is this place,' so... that goes with number three.] I heard about the Reality TV Show in Space thing so that's... weird. What do people do here that makes it so worth filmin'?

[Another familiar face, another one who has no memory of how she met him. Rogue decides to stick with the pattern - different version, treat them like it.]

It's kinda refreshin', actually. [It means they haven't all... settled in. Maybe people don't stay here that long?]

...and, yeah. Luceti's one of those places. [Her hand goes up to the bag of her neck. Gloved fingers touch the embedded augment, and then trace over the bar code tattoo that seemed to be a permanent souvenir of the place she'd left behind.]

It's kinda depressin' to hear there's more than one. [Although... it did make things easier in case she ever had to explain.] Why're you callin' people from them refugees? Isn't that exactly like what's goin' on here?

Can't say I've heard of either of those by name. What are they like? Maybe I'll know by description.

Yeah, it is weird, huh? Apparently, they like to film our every day lives, just to see how we interact and deal with... well, all this. [He gestures to his surroundings, his own pilot area.] Interacting with people, traveling through space, visiting different planets... Like reality tv shows at home, only less spacey.

Living. Interacting. [She takes another bite.] Dealing with this stuff?

[Zessica just shrugs.] From what I gathered, we'll be sorted on to smaller ships soon. There's people already on those, so who knows where we'll end up.

[It's a running theme, for Sokka, that.]

It's a fitting term, some of them thinkg this place is a hundred times better than the last place they were in. My First Mate? He was in some pyschotic magical castle. Sounds about as much fun as eating a carrot.

[Because veggies are the least fun thing in existence.]

Me? I'm all for getting home again. That's my plan.

[She phrases it politely enough, and he smiles in return to hear it.]

That's more than many have, and an accurate enough description of what I am.

I take it you're still on the Marsiva? You should be assigned to a ship soon, and we're currently in orbit over a friendly planet if you'd like to visit it.

That seems to happen a lot, it's okay. I'm used to being from the future. So you're not like even from the Space Marine Earth?

[Rogue assimilates this information thoughtfully. She still has a lot of questions - not the least as to how the unpredictable nature of her powers would mix with such close quarters. Something about the way Zessica is speaking grabs her attention, though.]

Not your first rodeo, then? I mean - [she waves a gloved hand around vaguely.] - all this?

[It is very difficult for Rogue to hear another living being refer to itself as a `what.' ...but then there`s so much more to focus on, she lets it go.]

Woah, wait, what? You mean - they just let us go? Down to planets?
