Let's go sunning

[Whatever solemnity Diamond had managed to affect in Atroma's last broadcast, it's all gone now. After the little jingle announces her presence, her voice rings out from every speaker with bright exuberance.]

Good morning, dear passengers! It looks like you're all enjoying summer as much as we are, hmm? All that beautiful weather, and... goodness... your summer outfits have kept us all talking. Ratings have been quite good.

[A sigh that definitely sounds on the dreamy, pleased side of things.]

As far as the Shuffle goes, it seems that faces are coming and going at a lazy summertime pace. We've lost one captain this week, but Captain Terran is taking over the helm.

And since there is nothing else to report-- [Because why would she comment on any of the serious topics going on] --it's time for a little fan mail! With children all home from school, summer is our busiest time for letters.

[To prove that there is a letter to read, the sound of unfolding paper crinkles somewhere very close to the microphone.]

"Dear Drift Fleet, I love the show! My favorite ships are the Bishop and the Golden! I hope someone from those crews win at the end. I wanted to know, if the ships were people, what would each one be like? Which ones would get along and which ones would fight? Who would have crushes on each other?"

--Goodness! What a fascinating question. This sounds like one for you to answer, dear passengers. Please, tell us your thoughts!

Remember, the worlds are watching!

[And with that, the signal goes quiet, but the line is left open. Sounds like they're waiting for a response.]

Eh? We have a fan, really? Then, I'll do my best so you're not disappointed!

As for your question... Let's see, I'm still kind of new and getting used to the Golden, so I can't talk about what other ships would be like, but... I'd like to think of Golden as a little awkward and gets misunderstood a lot, but is hard working and does her best!

[There's a pause here, as though she's responding to a question.]

...Eh? "Why's the Golden a girl?" Isn't that because ships are usually called by female pronouns? Hmm... I wonder why...!

Oh! I think I've got it! It might be because it's protecting us in a dangerous place, like a mom! Moms are pretty strong, after all!

Still, all of those are nice, fun questions. I'll have to work on figuring out an answer for that. In the mean time, those of you watching this at home, why don't you guys answer it too? I think we'd all like to know what you think, so go ahead and send what you think in, too!

This is Golden's Uzuki Shimamura, thank you for your support, and keep watching! We'll all do our best around here, too!

[A few moments after Uzuki wraps her video response, Megaman ends up drifting by wherever she happens to be on the ship at the moment, comm in hand. Because really though--]

Ah, that response you put up to the fanmail thing just now was really nice! I almost feel a bit bad about mine now... [He laughs a bit.] Have you done this sort of thing before? Because it really sounds like you have!

[She actually seems... Really happy about this? This is probably the happiest she's been since she arrived in the fleet.]

Well, this is the first time I've had the chance to respond to fanmail directly, but I've emceed before. It's actually pretty fun once you get used to it!

Well, even though I say that, back home I mostly let my teammates take charge, since we had got quite a few people who are really good at it. I have to do my best to make sure I don't disappoint them, too!

It would be nice if I can find a place to sing and dance on the planet, too. That would be perfect!
