[There have been a few crew changes aboard the First Breath, which has meant Furiosa is kept busy getting to know her new shipmates. She may not be the most verbose person but she makes herself available, in between working on her prosthetic, and upgrading the ship where she can.]

[Meet, mingle, have adventures, play hide and seek in the cargo bay, what have you. This is the place to get to know your crew!]

[ Nova has been around on the ship. She's reserved and polite, but rarely volunteers information. It's not that she doesn't want to meet her shipmates but she never really seems comfortable. Come say hi? ]

[Furiosa isn't the kind to push; she doesn't think anyone would really feel entirely comfortable here given the kidnapping and the idea they're basically someone else's entertainment. It has her on edge as well, but she's spent a lifetime living on edge.]

Do you want some coffee? I just brewed a batch. [Her first batch, actually. She'd been curious, having only heard about it in her world.]

[The newly arrived Doctor Jones isn't exactly thrilled to be here, but it's supposedly more freedom than the HMS Marsiva. Before he can even start to think about where he's going to put his stuff (which is essentially the clothes he's wearing), he cn hear an unhealthy clunking in the ship. Without thinking, he lifts his hat just long enough to use it to wipe the sweat from his brow, then sets to work towards the source of the noise.]

Dammit, where's a wrench when you need one?

[Indiana stands in the bunk room looking around at the set of bunk beds in the room. It's not exactly the definition of cozy living, but it's no worse than some of the other places he's slept. He scowls as he looks from one set of bunkbeds to the next.]

So. Which one's mine?

Oh, yeah, sure. Thanks. I was about to get something to eat, I guess.

[ Looks at him, and then darts her eyes around. no one else here, huh? ]

Well, not this one.

I was hoping you'd point me to the men's side.

[It's his hope anyway. Indy may not exactly be a prude, but he does draw the line at sharing quarters with adolescent girls. He's old enough to be her father, dammit.]

There isn't one?

We could get a screen, maybe, if you're uncomfortable.

[ she doesn't actually know if they can get a screen. she's not totally thrilled with sharing quarters but at least at this point she's used to it. ]

I'm not uncomfortable. [He's a perhaps too defensive on that point. He just doesn't find this arrangement to be a particularly good idea, all said.

He pulls off his hat and drops it on one of the lower bunks on the other side.] How about this one?

It's been waiting just for you.

So, I guess you're new.

[He sits down on the bed beside his hat, stooping his head so he doesn't hit the upper bunk. At the very least, the bed has cushion to it. That's about as generous as he can be.]

Only was just now evicted from the Marsiva. [He leans forward to offer his hand in greeting.] Indiana Jones. You can call me Doctor Jones.

[... if only because she's so young. It's what he'd expect from his students.]

[ shakes his hand in return ]

Katniss Everdeen. You can call me Nova.

You're a doctor?

[She's not an engineer, not through her augment at least, but she can tell when a rig isn't running right. He'll find her trying to locate the source of the sound as well, one hand on the ship to try and feel the vibrations.]

[And well there's a wrench, jury-rigged to a prosthetic arm constructed from apparent metal tools and scrap. It's not nearly as comprehensive as the one she had before, but it's serviceable.]

[She glances back as hears someone else, giving the Doctor a quick look over.]

Please tell me you're an engineer. I don't think they'd let me fix it even if I knew exactly how.

It's a good start. [Or so she's heard. She pours a cup and hands it over to Nova before pouring one for herself. There was still a novelty about it, being able to access it at any time, really, and not have to fight for it. The coffee itself might be rationed, but there were other things. She pauses to look at it thoughtfully for a moment before taking a sip. It's desert hot, and bitter, but something about that combination appeals to her.]

There are a lot of things I don't miss from my world but I wouldn't mind being busy again.

[ she takes a sip of it and makes a bit of a face but she's got fortitude and works through it ]

It's uh... not bad.

Better than nothing. [Spoken from experience.] You have anything like this, where you're from?

Yeah, mostly for the miners, but I've had some here and there.

Is this about what it's like? [It is hard to tell if she's botched the brew or not, although she did follow directions.]

Just about. Kind of like drinking tar?

[He leans back and shrugs.]

Only of archaeology. Don't expect me to perform surgery anytime soon.

[He gives the captain only a passing glance. He's not alone in detecting the problem, but he already knows it's not where she's looking. Her arm gains a quizzical look, but another clunk persuades him to ignore that.]

I'm a scientist. [He says this with a twinge of bitterness - not because he finds the work in any way demeaning, but simply because he knows this shouldn't be in his skillset. And yet.]

But I think I can fix it. Engineering is this way, right? [He points forward. He may know how to fix a space age engine, but that doesn't mean he necessarily can find it.]

That way. [She jerks her thumb over her shoulder in the proper direction.] I'll show you.

[Without waiting to see if he's following, she turns and heads off towards Engineering. She talks over her shoulder.]

You're just in time, we needed an engineer. [The word scientist didn't have much meaning to her, so she leave it without comment.] I'm your Captain and pilot, Imperator Furisoa. Are you new or just transferring over?

[ seems somewhat let down by this ]

Oh.

What's archeology?

So this is normal. [She quirks a small grin and takes another sip. It was hot, and the bitter aftertaste was strong. She liked it.] It's a stimulant, isn't it?

[Like most knowledge she didn't have an immediate use for, she's got some vague recollection of hearing about it but that's the extent of it.]

Yeah, it helps keep you awake, though I think over time you get more used to it.

Mm. That's the way of it, isn't it? You get used to what doesn't kill you. [She and coffee are going to get along great.]

[ gets a little distant ]

Well, I don't know about that.

I guess that was just my world, then.

[Furiosa catches that, and goes silent for a moment. This wasn't someone she could push and this wasn't a situation that called for it, so she relented and moved about the kitchen to start putting together a small meal for the two of them. It was an embarrassment of riches, looking at what they had available. Furiosa had decided to ration herself, perhaps to some degree still hearing the Immortan's lectures about not letting yourself become a slave to it, but at the same time she didn't entirely feel she could trust it.]

Any objections to trying the Asian Chicken?

[ Nova is thankful for the understanding silence, and is definitely eager to change the subject ]

No, I don't think so.

Do you know why it's called that?

[She studies the identifying tags on the pastes suggested in the recipe booklet.] Not a clue. I know what chicken is ... I think. Any idea what Teriyaki is?

[She starts preparing it regardless.]

I guess we'll both find out, then.

So you have someone from home here?

[She goes back to preparing the plates.]

I do; pilot of the Red Fish, Nux. He's one of my Warboys. [The only one she'd put any stock into, at this point.]

So you work together?

[She chuckles. That wording was a little misleading.] He works for me, or rather, he answers to me, essentially. The environment we lived in was veyr strict.

[In order to get any positive response from him, she still had to rely on some old techniques, for now.] He's a good kid, but he needs direction. Otherwise he'll end up destructive. Do you have anyone here?
