The last place I was at, whatever was in charge was able to take away our abilities sometimes. There were also places in that world where abilities like that were negated, for some reason. I've also met people who have the ability to temporarily block your abilities in different ways, depending on how they work exactly.

It's good to be prepared for anything, so after the first time that happened I learned how to use a gun and some other stuff so I could fight no matter what. It wouldn't be a bad idea for you to do the same thing.
