Well, there is one place to land to take care of all that, and that's on a dusty old moon in front of a planet that no one wants to go to. On this moon, you'll find a civilization that looks a lot like one's stepped into a wild west movie, hardened cowpolk and mutant horses and all. Will you become a vigilante, hunting bounties and stopping gangs from doing their dirty work? Will you go exploring planetside, with a cowboy hat and a stalk of wheat in your mouth to complete the look? Good luck with that; there is no wheat. This town ain't big enough for all you flooters, but make it so! For the ratings!

Come on, you know Darkness is all connected in some form or another; I can portal between ships easily enough, what makes you think I won't feel it if your powers wig out? [What's he blushing for? It's not that big a deal, is it?] I wouldn't say I'm gonna do something if I didn't mean it, so don't you worry about me putting myself out, okay? I'm my own boss now, I can do what I want.

[There's a beat of silence and he gives him a sidelong look.]

You can ask for help when you need it, you know? That's what friends are for, right?

[And that's what they are, these days... right? Friends. It's a little strange to say it, honestly, but Axel enjoys Riku's company well enough. He would help him out if he needed it!]

since when are they friends? riku would call lea a friend, but can he call axel one? riku looks at him a little warily, unsure of where to stand. but then, he supposes that just an ally wouldn't have helped him calm down when the thunderstorm hit... maybe they are friends?

riku's not sure where that line begins or ends, really. he sighs after a moment, holding his head. ]

W-well, yeah, I just... didn't know we were friends.

[Axel looks a little unsure for a moment. Well, they are friends, right? Maybe he's not poster child for healthy friendships, but he's trying.]

Well, sure we are! We talk, we hang out, I'd give a damn if you were kidnapped by hostile aliens, I think that's grounds for a friendship, don't you?

So if I didn't care about you being kidnapped by hostile aliens, that's the cutoff point?

[He blusters a little.]

I-it's not like there's a rubric, sheesh. But yeah, I figure kidnapping is a good place to draw a line in the sand. If you don't care if someone gets kidnapped by hostile aliens then you're probably not friends.

[ chuckling... ]

Okay, okay. Well, I guess I'd care, so I... [ hesitates. ] I guess we're friends.

[ he frowns, tipping his head down, before he sighs. ]

Riku, I'm just messing with you. I'm not so good at talking about feelings, either. S'kinda hard when ya haven't got any, anyway.

Let's just settle on this: if anything goes wrong with your powers, I'll try and help ya out, okay? [He offers his hand to shake.] I can't promise I'll be able to do anything--you've kicked my ass before, after all--but I'll give it my best shot. Deal?

[ he hesitantly takes his hand, and then gives a firm nod. ] I'll try not to kick your ass as hard.
