The hottest surface area on Earth ever recorded was El Azizia, Libya, in 1922, when it reached 136 degrees Fahrenheit, or 57.8 degrees Celsius. On the flip side, the coldest surface area ever recorded was from Russia's Vostok Station, which reached negative 128.6 degrees Fahrenheit, or negative 89.2 degrees Celsius, in 1983.
