Once they reach the top, Clay spreads out the blanket and sets the basket of food to the side while his mom works on setting up the rather good-sized telescope, and once Clay's finished, he'll move in to help her. They talk quietly, but not much, as this is more about companionable silence than anything.
Once they finish, they sit on the blanket, and it looks like the hill they picked has a perfect view of the moon. They don't have to crane their necks too much, and the stars look absolutely beautiful way out here.]
