Sweet dreams are made of these...
( for A-M characters )
Before you post your topcomment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your topcomment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

[ There's a heart to be found here, in the ruins. He might disagree, because he's stuck; the world isn't crumbling but it's not changing, either. ]
« Yet you're here, on the ship. You have conquered death. »
no subject
« Is it really conquering if someone else brought me here and I had nothing to do with it? I'm a passenger, not the pilot. I can't go back. »
[His gaze shifts to the floor for a moment, contemplative.]
« I'm grateful for the time I have here. But there are people I left behind at home, and people who will be sad when I'm not here anymore. So it doesn't feel like I've conquered anything, Nyssa al Ghul. »
[Even so . . . he looks up at her, just in case she has an answer to this problem. Quiet, inquisitive, very nearly shy. The angry boy is still within him, just managed well - or buried deep.]
no subject
« Perhaps you don't feel like that now... but if you can't go back, you must move forward. » [ she smiles, gently ] « Is everything so complicated with you, Mr. Zeppeli? »
no subject
[Why are you so intent on not letting this happen? Ino had asked him, and he hadn't had a good answer then, doesn't have one now.]
[If you can't go back, you must move forward. Where to, though?]
[The maelstrom of images subsides with one last thing: a steely-eyed boy, grown up too fast, and that one makes Caesar roll his eyes and raise his hands, okay okay okay.]
« Most things. I've been told I should knock it off. Add your voice to the choir if you like, although it seems like you're perfectly content to sing alone. »

« If you have survived what most men do not, be it by luck or skill, you are a conqueror. If the door is shut, find another, or make another if you must. »
[ A beat. ]
« All I have for you, Mr. Zeppeli, is the truth. It is such: not now, but one day, you will make your choice. » [ She nods to the wrench in his hand. ] « It's already clear. »
no subject
[He isn't sure what to make of this. Did he ever actually want to be a conqueror? A fighter, yes. A victor, yes. An avenger, absolutely. But a conqueror--]
[He looks at the wrench when she gestures to it. Is that all it takes?]
« I think I should trust you. »
no subject
[ Dryly said, with no malice. She shrugs. ]
« Telling you the truth once is no basis for trust. »
no subject
[It takes him a few moments longer to parse denial, though.]
« What am I denying? »
no subject
[ She looks around his room more closely, trying to divine some meaning. She was never that good at this. ]
« Life. Future. I'm not sure. My father used to say he could tell a man's whole story by looking in his eyes. »
no subject
« That seems very romantic. I would say you can tell a man's whole story by fighting him for five minutes. But I'm not anyone's father, so I don't know as much as I could. »
no subject
[ A lesson she and many others have been taught, but there's an empty vial in the hilt of her sword. But she turns a curious, searching gaze on him. ]
« What's my story, then? I fought you for longer. »
no subject
« You're someone with a great deal of loyalty and power and anger. You love your father, but that isn't all you feel for him. You have no patience for people who aren't living up to their best potential - including yourself. You are confident enough in yourself that you have no qualms about proving your ability, but I can't tell whether that confidence was trained into you or won on your own. »
no subject
[ That's his reward, for hitting the mark on all counts — forthrightness. Playfully, she adds, ]
« Next time I want the measure of a man, I'll send him to you. »
no subject
« I'd be honored if you trusted me with that much. In turn, next time I want a man taught a lesson, maybe I'll send him to you. »
no subject
« All I can teach is not to underestimate me. If you know someone who would benefit, I would happily oblige. »
no subject
[He tips his head, considering.]
« Everyone who isn't an enemy, anyway. »
no subject
« If they're an enemy, then they have it coming. »
[ She squares her shoulders, primly. ]
« I'm not sure how we can leave, but I will sit with you until there is a clear path. »
