Has... anyone else been having weird dreams lately, or just me?

Also, what do people do for fun around here? This is the longest I've ever been cooped up in one place. At least if there was something to do...

Anyway, I'm sick of meditating. If anyone wants to come chat or keep me company, I'm sitting in the living area. Does anyone know if they have a dejarik board around here? I'm not much good at it, but it's a good time waster at least.

Oh-- right. I'm always up for a spar, too... if you think you can keep up.

[At the talk of meditating and whatever else that follows, Octavia makes her way out of the kitchen area, bottle of some drink in hand. She goes over Ahsoka and flops in a seat next to her, not glancing over yet.]

You still gotta teach me.

[Ahsoka smacks her head lightly.] Oh-- shoot. With all the... weirdness going on, I forgot. Sorry.

Do you wanna do it now?

[He catches the tail end of the transmission as he enters the room. Very nearly he just turns to leave, not wanting to disturb another residence or, frankly, give Atroma anything to watch, but that bit about sparring does catch his attention. He settles against a wall, arms folded, and gives her an acknowledging nod.]

You mentioned sparring.

[Ahsoka looks the newcomer up and down, taking him in. He's... big, that's for sure. Shorter than her master, though. But much more muscle tone. Not someone she could take on in terms of strength, even with the Force augmenting her abilities. But then again, when has she ever been as strong as her opponents?

Ahsoka herself doesn't look like much. Only five foot seven (including her horns) and slight as anything-- but despite that, every inch of her is lean as hell.]

Yeah, well. I can only verse the punching bag and go through the same exercise routine so many times before it gets boring.

[enshields]

[That gets a slight, amused quirk to one corner of his mouth. Steve Rogers VS Punching Bags is practically a theme at this point, and he gets the reluctance to go back to it when there are other options. It's not really a form of fighting that takes you out of your own head.]

Nothing wrong with a little boring, sometimes.

[Still, his tone is playfully patient, and he pushes himself off the wall and heads closer, holds out a hand.]

Steve Rogers. What did you have in mind?

[Far be it from him to ever assume that small correlates to weak. Natasha has laid him out more than a fair few times.]

Ahsoka Tano. [She's glad he doesn't dismiss her straight out of hand, or seem to look down on her. That's a point in his favour.]

My hand to hand is going to get rusty if I don't practice. Are you okay with free-forming it?

Don't have a problem with it.

[-- But he does raise an eyebrow at their surroundings.]

-- Probably not here, though.

... Oh. Right. No-- of course not. [OOPS.]

Let's move to the gym.

[He tips his hand, palm-up, to indicate that she should lead the way but he will more-or-less settle into step beside her once they're heading out.]

I guess this is the obligatory question - been here long?

[resnipstance]

[She jumps up and leads the way without further ado.]

Depends on your definition of long, I guess! Feels like it's been forever, from my perspective. But I think it's only been about two weeks in reality.

[... Well, she is an alien, so--]

Do you... [slight flounder.] Perceive time differently? Than humans I mean.

[... Or is this more a teenager thing, because he's certainly getting teenager vibes. BUT WHO KNOWS I mean. Come on. #aliens.]

Oh. Hmm. Good question! Not that I know of, though.

[Definitely a teenager.]

I'm just used to being on the move a lot. And being busy. I don't think I've had this much downtime to myself since I was a youngling.

[Suspicions more or less confirmed, but he keeps up a very faint smile as they make their way through the halls. He keeps to the outside edge more out of habit than anything - his Ma instilled it in him young, how if you're walking with someone it's always best to be on the outside, that way you can protect them. Not that there's much to be protected from here, but. It's his nature.]

Nothing wrong with a bit of downtime.

[To him, it sort of feels like the calm before the storm. And he doesn't exactly trust this place or the intentions of pretty much anyone involved in bringing them here for a New York minute.

-- That comment about younglings does get him to look at her askance, and his jaw ticks off to one side. She's already terrifically young, to be asking for sparring partners with the level of confidence she'd espoused. This implication could go any number of ways.]

What's busy look like for you?

[She just shrugs.]

In theory, I guess. But it doesn't feel right, to me. I feel like I should be doing something.

[Master Sinube would say she needs to slow down and meditate more. But she banishes that thought from her mind as quickly as it comes.]

Back home, my galaxy is currently embroiled in an inter-galactic war. Everyone thought it would be over in a few months, but... it's well into its' third year now. I was part of an Order that fought in it, so... there was always somewhere to go, some mission to be on, something to do. Here, it's just... too quiet.

[She says all of this fairly casually, like it's standard. Like she's discussing what she had for breakfast this morning.]

[Sometimes, privately, he wonders if there's any such thing as peace. There's always a War, some are bleaker or bloodier than others. Some are private but no less perilous. Soldiers are casualties, but children are victims. She's describing hypervigilance to a T, and Atroma is listening.

I doubt it'll stay that way.

[Hahaha, what is acknowledgement of mental trauma in the Jedi Order. You must be joking.]

Is it weird if part of me hopes you're right?

At this point I feel like anything would be better than just sitting around.

[Ahsoka puts down her device and looks up at Nova, a little tired. She rolls her shoulders after a beat and rubs the back of her neck.]

I'll say. At first I thought it was something I was eating, but...

[Well. She's got her suspicions.]

You don't have dejarik in your system?

It's a... strategy game, of sorts. The board is circular, and you have little holographic pieces you can move around on it, that can move in different dimensions.

Oh. Yeah, we had a version of that. Or have; I wouldn't be surprised if someone's got a chessboard. It's just rectangular instead, and tech never made it to the point we had holo pieces. The rules are probably different, too, I mean it would be kind of ridiculous if they were identical.

Oh! We have chess, too. They are similar, but not identical.
