[Confidence. Sureness. That's what the audience wanted, wasn't it? As much as Jennifer hated playing up to them and dancing to Atroma's whistle to any degree, confidence was what was needed here, too.]

for those who haven't met me, my name is Dr. Jennifer Keller, and I'm the medical officer on the Wonderduck. Allen mentioning his blood drive reminded me... since we seem to be back on our ships for the time being and I actually have an infirmary again, I'm going to resume offering first aid lessons for anybody willing to learn. If you do have prior medical experience, all the better, but even if you have none, I can teach you.

That's the idea, yes- I know we're a little short on trained medics here as it is, so it'll benefit everyone. We don't seem to find ourselves in mortal peril all that often, but you know how unpredictable Atroma can be.

[Stefan figures, congratulating her like this wouldn't be great in public - but a private line? That might work. His smile's a genuine one as he leans forward a little, and since it's on his mind, he figures he should ask,]

I might take you up on a refresher. I've got experience, but I never did get to med school.

Yeah, I know. I don't want to be stuck without any help if we have to fight those other ships again. We were lucky last time, but...

[If it happens again, and one of his crewmates got hurt... they can't just be stuck without any means to do anything about it.

The next part, however, gets him to look a little sheepish as he swipes at the bridge of his nose a bit.]

I should warn you, though; I'm kind of, uh... squeamish. About some things. I'm trying to work myself out of it, but it's... a slow process.

Mmhmm. Next time, the ones who attack us might not be so merciful... especially if they're not under Atroma's control.

[She smiled at him.]

That's not a problem- we can work inside your comfort level. It'll pretty much just be wound care- bandaging, splinting and all.

That's very wise. I've never been much of a risk-taker myself, so anything I can do to further minimize it... I'll do.

Thank you. I'm glad I got some responses, too- I need to work harder on meeting new people, and since my job is what I feel most comfortable doing, combining the two might help.

Experience is still valuable, but yeah, nothing can really replace a formal education.

I'd think so. You volunteer with the blood drive, right? You could meet other people there too, since we have a consistent group of donors.

[Plus, you know, having extra back-up in case he gets hungry for human blood would be great.]

Exactly. I wish I could've gone, but life kind of made that decision for me.

I do, yes- I didn't even think about that, honestly. There's been a lot on all of our minds lately.

[She nodded.]

I'll do what I can to help, then. I wouldn't expect anybody but, say, me or Beverly or Simon to do complicated surgery, but wound care is a valuable skill to know.

[He bows deeply to her once more.] And when may I steal your lovely intelligent company for such worthy lessons?

[Well, apparently he can still get a woman to blush. And one he did not have to pay coin to! Startling, to say the least. She gets a crooked smile.]

Thanks, on both counts. I'm not great with surgery, but I should get more familiar with emergency care. Just in case.

[He doesn't exactly trust Atroma to keep them safe, but he is a bit spooked at how no one's really died in the past year.]

[And there was Jennifer in the shuttle bay awaiting Tyrion's arrival, though when he arrives he'll likely find her seeming to be lost in thought.]

Yeah, I'd say that's a smart choice. After what they just did to us and talking to Diamond, I don't trust Atroma to not put us all in serious danger some time as a ratings stunt. You know, injuries, deaths, medical drama... they'd lap it up.

Sounds good! Just give me a buzz whenever you're free.

[He steps off the shuttle, carefully, making sure that the ground is steady underneath his feet before he moves. He heaves out a breath - then looks over at Jennifer.]

...A copper for your musings, my lady?

[Jennifer was startled at her reverie, but she smiled at Tyrion anyway.]

I was just thinking about how strange it is that I'm just... picking up and moving on with my life so quickly. I spent a month confined to a ship having my mind meddled with, I talked to one of our hosts and found out that the audience thinks my friendship with Beverly is great entertainment, and yet, here I am. It will never cease to amaze me how adaptable humans can be no matter what the circumstances are.

[Tyrion limped over to her, wincing as he let his legs stretched out.]

If there is one thing I have found, my lady, we can survive anything if given the proper motivation. The right lever can push any of us on further then we thought possible. For good and for ill.
