[ As promised, in a few days time, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan make their way to the markets. They dress warmly, Obi-Wan procuring a thick cloak for himself. It's hard to feel like a Jedi Master without one.

He watches as Ahsoka flits from stall to stall as he lingers behind her, to correct her on her "bargaining" technique. In a way, they resemble a teenager, saddled with a wiser all-knowing uncle. He strokes his beard in light amusement. This is probably what he needed right now, a reassessment of his priorities, the here and now. ]

[He takes a seat where convenient to watch it all play out. She doesn't do badly. He can't call her out on that. But at the same time, he's pretty sure Chopper could've managed a lower price than that. So when she returns, he'll try to be the good teacher and aim for positive reinforcement.]

Good. You did good. Although you gave in too soon. If you'd started to walk away, you would've got an easy ten percent more knocked off the price. Besides, he's a parts dealer. Chances are, you got the normal price.

What? But... what if I start to walk away and he just lets me?

If that even happens, there's always other shops. But chances are, he won't risk losing the sale.

I've spent a few years working for people like that. There's a lot you learn about the galaxy just trying to scrape by in the Outer Rim. [Things the Jedi Temple never teach you about... or prepare you for.]

Well then. [She gives him a little Jedi-style bow. Old habits die hard.] Thank you, for sharing your knowledge.

[... well, that's new. Not even Ezra does that. He smiles weakly.]

Hey, it's nothing. Besides, you're the one with two ship parts you don't even need.

[Ahsoka just smiles mysteriously.]

How do you know I don't need 'em?

Maybe I read your mind. [He wiggles his fingers.]

Ha, very funny. In that case, your mind-reading skills need work.

Probably true. So what do you plan to use them for?

Hmm. Sorry, but that's for me to know, and you to find out.

[She doesn't say it with any hint of malice. It's not that she doesn't trust Kanan. Just that she doesn't know him. And unlike most people she's met here... she finds it strangely difficult to get a read on him.

Guess Ahsoka kept her cards close to her chest even before she became Fulcrum.]

I'm hoping finding out doesn't involve watching an explosion from the comfort of another ship.

[Grinning:]

Would I do that?

[Well, the Ahsoka he knows wouldn't. But this one, well...]

I really, really hope not.

Haha. Relax. I know what I'm doing. Nothing's going to blow up, I promise.

Glad to hear it. [He takes a moment to find a wall to lean on because if Kanan is anything - it's a leaner.] So, are all the planets we visit this pleasant?

Truthfully? I don't know.

This is only the first one we've visited since I woke up here. Before that, we were just travelling in space for two months.

[Then, by way of explanation:] ... No hyperdrive.

[He cringes.] Power enough to grab us from another galaxy and they can't even manage hyperdrive? [A shake of the head.] I've met Stormtroopers with more sense than these guys.

Actually it makes perfect sense if you think about it from their perspective. Jumping to hyperspace makes for a pretty easy quick getaway. Taking it away is one less variable for them to worry about.

... Wait, "Stormtrooper"?

[Well, there was some logic in that. He might have agreed, but... well.]

... oh, right. They're after your time.

[Why does she have a bad feeling all of a sudden?]

... Did something happen to the Clone Troopers?

The war ended. They weren't going to keep making them forever.

[Thank the Force for that. Even having made his amends with Rex, he could not help but feel a loathing for the clones that had betrayed the Jedi Order - chips or no chips.]

... Oh. ... Right. Of course.

[She gets a funny look on her face-- like she isn't sure how to process that. Even knowing Kanan is from the future, even knowing logically that the war must and will end, even though Ahsoka's wished for nothing more than for it end, it's... weird. Weird to hear it out loud. Fully realised. The war really ends. No more war. No more clones.

Ahsoka suddenly realises she's been quiet slightly longer than is really polite.]

... Sorry. It's just... strange to hear about.

It's stranger living it.

[She hasn't asked, though. The future is such a tricky thing, though, if only because it's his past. He knows it must gnaw at her not to know, but it seems worse for Obi-Wan that he does.]
