[It's probably not normal for a lack of something to be the first thing one notices upon waking up, but Mikleo opens his eyes to the realization that there's a serious lack of... weight on his chest, one he'd become resigned to feeling ever since leaving Elysia. Malevolence was everywhere in the world, and only his contract with Sorey and Lailah had kept him from growing sick because of it, or worse.

Here, though, he feels not even an ounce of it. Which immediately brings to mind the question- where...?

Once he's up and on his feet and staring out the nearest window - witnessing the state of the sky, what in the world - it takes him a while to shake off the shock. He feels like his head's been invaded- thoughts, understanding forced into it, making his head hurt. This is space. He doesn't know why he knows this, but he does. Space, a fleet of ships traveling the universe like a fleet of whales in the ocean, prisoners for entertainment...

What does it even mean?

Sorey. I need to find him. Forcing himself away from the glass, he wanders the hallways, drawn to his Shepherd like a lost sheep. He has to be here. This feeling is unmistakable.]

[BROADCAST: VIDEO]

-ink this is how it works? Where’s the part I talk into? Try the top corner, it's flashing. Do you know why? -well because it’s communicating, isn’t it? Don't look at me. Oh! No no, it’s working now. ...yup. Okay! Geez…

Wow, this is so cool! Can everybody really hear me? -oh man, we can make recordings with this! You know, instead of having to lug around parchment all the time? We absolutely have to bring this back home.

Like people need more reasons to fear the Shepherd.

-ah, right! Introductions! I’m Sorey. I’m supposed to be an Engineer? I’m not totally clear on everything involved in that, so please be patient with me! Um, and since it sounds like we’re all in the same boat- I mean, this might’ve been asked before but does anybody know who we can talk to if we really, really need to get back? It’s kind of an emergency. This seems like a kidnapping but we’re not in a cell or anything, so it’s not as bad as it could’ve been, I suppose.

But definitely! Any clarification on how to get back would be really, really helpful.

You should probably stop talking like you're with someone, Sorey. People will think you're more weird than you already are.

[Sorey and Mikleo can be found exploring the Marsiva. To those who can see Mikleo (have a look at his permission post please!), they'll both be there, talking animatedly. To those who can't, feel free to call Sorey out on, you know, talking animatedly to himself.]

[Sorey wakes up slowly, then all at once. The last thing he remembers- Heldalf leaving the Hunting Grounds. They'd escaped death again, somehow. Sorey can still feel the Shepard pact humming quietly inside of him, can still feel like it's there but Lailah- Edna, Zaveid, Mikleo, nobody is there. He can't see or hear any of them, and Rose is gone too.

He swings his legs over the edge of the bed and staggers onto his feet. His clothes are clean and mended when they definitely hadn't been. And he doesn't feel horrible, just...slightly off kilter. Like the ground is moving beneath his feet.]

Mikleo? [Well, it was worth a shot. Maybe he's still not strong enough, maybe Heldalf ended up overpowering his domain after all. Feeling vaguely frustrated with himself, Sorey sets out to find -at the very least- Rose. Or to at least figure out where the hell he is, because he can't tell what kind of stone is making up the walls and everything seems to be made out of iron or steel-

And that, on the wall, that's a computer. And he'd never heard of that term aloud in his life. And those, those are power couplings, that's a three-turn bypass and that's a...something he thinks he should know, for some reason, despite never seeing it in his life. Sorey slowly puts a hand to his head and scratches his hair, bewildered and just slightly freaked out, but more bewildered than anything. This isn't part of the Shepard's pact, is it? ...shit, is it?

His fingers touch on something hard just behind his earring and he's about to tug on it when a familiar shape comes into view just past a set of bunk beds.]

Mikleo! [The name leaves him in a gasp of relief and Sorey immediately jogs over to him, the thing in his hair forgotten. He feels a lot more evenly keeled with Mikleo here but that leaves him with a brand new, much more worrying question: where are his other seraphim?] Mikleo, I have no idea what's going on or where we are, [Sorey laughs, the sound of it edged with hysterical incredulity as he wonders if Rose, who seems to know where everything is, would know where they are. If he can find her, he'll ask.]

[Oh, thank goodness. With how much trouble seemed to follow them, Mikleo had assumed that finding Sorey would be a huge hassle, but he's right here. He has enough of a poker face to avoid looking too relieved, but it seems that the whole situation is enough to shake even him up.]

I don't know, either. Or rather- I know, but I don't know why...

[Ugh, this is already frustrating. All that information is in his head and it really should not be there. ]

[ Skimming through the network, Elize had no intention of responding to any of the broadcasts while in her dejected state, though this odd one in particular catches her attention. It clearly sounds like there are two people, but she only sees one.

She pipes up nervously over her device. ]

Um...

[ Before she can give Sorey answers to any of his questions, she has to ask: ]

...Is there someone else with you?

[Sorey points.] Exactly. I know stuff I'm not supposed to, and everything is making this really low noise? Like a buzzing noise, sort of? Or a humming noise.

And I can't find anyone! I think- I mean, I think they're safe, I can still feel them alive but I don't know where they could be. Until I saw you, I thought I might've lost my resonance again. [And it had been an unpleasant thought, one that has Sorey gravitating even closer to Mikleo, almost touching.]

Ummmmm... [Sorey pauses as he confers with Mikleo; it's a whole lot of whispered, yeah but and it's not like you're not here but eventually he addresses the question properly.]

Don't...uh, just don't worry about it for now. [TO DODGE] Anyway, hi! It's good to meet you. What's your name?

Well, it's definitely not that.

[He nudges Sorey lightly in the arm with his elbow, brow quirking pointedly. Sorey can still see, hear, and interact with at least one seraphim just fine. His concerns about the others is legitimate, though, so he closes his eyes for a moment, trying to get a feel for what's around them. His pact means that there's always a connection, an invisible string tethering him to Sorey and his Prime Lord. The one leading to Sorey is so strong it's almost tangible, clear as day in his mind's eye, but Lailah...]

...Wherever they are, they're not here. The pact still exists between us, but I can't feel Lailah's presence at all.

[It's actually pretty disturbing. He's new to the whole sub lord thing, but you'd have to be an idiot not to realize how much of a problem it is to be missing one's Prime Lord.

At least, he should be saying that, and yet...]

Sorey. Can you feel it? What's different about this place?

[Well, that double act gets some confusion.]

You know, it would probably work better if you two stopped interrupting each other.

But no, there's no way home that we know of.

Yeah. [Sorey frowns and folds his arms.] No malevolence. Normally I'd say that's a good thing, but...

[But Mikleo's felt it ever since they left Elysia. And Sorey's been feeling it ever since he became the Shepard. For it to suddenly vanish should be a great thing, but it's more worrying than anything else. If they're up in the night sky...just how far away from their world? Can you even get away from malevolence?]

Y'know, if you wanted me to look less crazy you could stop trying to have a conversation with me. [no don't do that though]

Yeah, but that's just how w- [hold on] Oooh, wait! Can you see him? [points at Mikleo right at his shoulder]

Does that happen to you too? [never happened back home, HOW ABOUT EVERYONE JUST LEARNS HOW TO SEE GHOSTS that would be perfect] I don't think it's that strange...I mean, who knows who might be listening! Right?

That's... unlikely.

[And technically not true at all, because he's definitely not visible. But his voice rings through clear enough.]

[IRRITATED HUFF. Seriously, can you be more obvious, Sorey?]

...But it doesn't feel right, after everything.

[A world without malevolence ought to be a dream. It just feels too good to be true. Not to mention that they have too many responsibilities back home.

That's also not the only thing that's bothering him.]

Something's been done to us.

[... Yeaaah, Clay's kind of staring a bit, though he does blink himself out of it. Then tilts his head slightly because - look, okay, he can hear a voice, but that guy is definitely talking at empty space. Is the other guy behind the camera or something?]

Hey, uh, is the other guy off to the side or something? [And tilting his head to the other side as if that'll help him see the other guy.]

I don't see anything, no, but I can hear you both fine. Try pointing the camera at him.

[At least, she assumes that's what the problem is.]

Elize Lutus. Nice... to meet you?

[ Sounding uncertain, because she very clearly still hears that other voice. No, she's going to worry about it right now! ]

Is your friend hiding?

Sorry, we're being rude. We're pretty used to people not being able to see or hear him at all. [Sorey gestures to the thin air next to him.] This is Mikleo! Righhhht about here. [pokes said thin air]

Wow, this is so cool. I wonder what made this happen? I've never met so many people all at once with enough resonance to hear him, even if you guys can't see him.

Hey, excuse me! Do you see any fuzzy shapes in this general direction? [waves a hand right in front of mikleo's dumb invisible face as annoyingly as possible]

[And that hand is deftly, invisibly, shoved off.]

My friend? [Most people just assume he's being strange instead of assuming there's actually someone there. Can she hear him somehow?]

Oh! My friend! No no, he's right here. He's just a very shy person. [so shy so tsun]

... So, uh... Why can't people see or hear you?

Sorey half-turns and reaches up to part his hair, gently moving his earring aside.] Can you see anything here? I scratched my head earlier and my hand ran into something. Maybe it has something to do with this.
