[Sam has been mostly settling in. Now that the planet's behind them and he's got a hardy collection of salt and a bundle of self-written notes about the icy world they left behind, he's gotten back into learning some sign language (to bug Coil with, of course, though he's obviously not so great yet; sorry Coil). Outside of that, Sam's gotta keep himself busy, okay? Okay.]

And now we're buckled in for this long-winded space roadtrip again, right? At least I'm out of pajamas for this one.

[Small favors. Has it really been a month since he popped up? Feels like just yesterday. It's been a hoot, being in motion. Sort of.]

I'm all for the power of technology, but I'm actually more a fan of physical, paper books. There's just a difference there that's hard to replace with a network device. Anybody have any they'd be willing to let me borrow? Or maybe even trade for, though I'm a little limited on goods, fair warning. Hell, if there's a place around here with an actual library, that'd be great; I wouldn't mind helping out there with extending it however I can, planet to planet. Keeping it updated. After all, there's an eternal stream of history, fiction, poetry — all from different worlds and universes. Why not take advantage of the circumstances and learn about all of that in our spare time?

Anyone who takes there time writing or recording information, let me know. We could maybe include it in whatever we already have, get some cataloging in place, maybe download things digitally into the system as a back-up? If we have the ability to yet.

... Chances of finding it in the middle of some random galaxy is kind of low, but I'm pretty sure us being here was one in a million.

We have kids on board, too, right? Maybe I'll look for some kids books at the next place. I can only imagine how bored they'll get, sitting around on a ship. It's not like this place is giving younger passengers a lot to do.

I record information as best I can. I do keep that guide for the new people updated, after all. As for what kind of books, I could use some spellbooks around here. I do have a children's book from my world on the network, though. I'm not sure how the Atroma got it and uploaded it, but it's there.

No, I'm afraid I don't know or have any. Most of the knowledge I possess was either passed down orally, from Master to Padawan or remained in the Jedi Archives. And I'm not Master Jocasta.

Sounds great. It'd be a horrible to only have a paper copy of anything, so uploading anything is a really good idea. But having tangible copies is also a good idea, in case data gets wiped or the network goes down.

Think we can get someone to transfer that kids book to something paper?

Maybe an artist. Give them something to do, too...

Do we have any artist types around here? Or, you know, a way to print them? Should I send you the file?

I'm Sam Winchester... Just Sam'll do. Guess I sort of belong to a group, too, but I've never actually considered it that way. Anyway. Sorry about being trapped on a random ship by some mysterious force. Or entity. Haven't quite figured it out yet.

We can also check on any planets we visit from now on. But I think by the time a civilization has space travel, it's more likely they'd have moved away from paper books anyway.

I've had a busy time since I got here, but much of that excitement is finally tapering off. As a Jedi, you have to be prepared for life giving you difficulties, I'm afraid.

We have a library. It's on the Iskaulit, now. But I have a small pile I've borrowed, if you want to look at any of those.

I have acquired a few on various metal alloys.

I like to collect star charts when they're around. But that isn't always easy. Our last planet had star charts from a lot of different sources, and figuring out which ones are accurate and which are meant for younglings... Let's just say they aren't the most reliable.

You could end up having a lot of uh "paper books" without any useful information.

As someone already mentioned, there is a library available and other passengers have their own collections. [Guess who has quite the smutty romance collection but is neither telling nor sharing? That's right. This girl.] In the future, I would look around waystations and planets we visit for shops or anyone interested in making a trade.

It's probably an unpopular opinion, but I really liked a lot of the books I had to read for my English classes in high school.

If you do spot some books for children, I know some places they'd come in handy. [Mostly on the Huntress, where everyone is either eleven or acts like they are.]

I'd recommend a collection of Alderaanian poetry for your library, but I don't think we're likely to find any in this galaxy.

You say that, but the last planet we visited used old methods to hunt even though they have some relatively advanced technologies. Sometimes people like being a little old-fashioned. Reading a book off paper has a kind of charm to it.

I can understand that a little. Where I'm from, there's not really any time to sit and relax before something else tries to destroy something in its path. Though I don't have all of space to worry about.
