[Belthazar is usually much more careful about what he broadcasts, but this time he doesn't care. He's in the grips of a tantrum the likes of which haven't been seen for a very long time. He's a blackish blur off the edge of the screen, ripping things off his walls and throwing furniture like it's going out of style. He's screaming but not out of any particular physical injury; it's that of sadness and anger and desperation.

He hurls a chair at the other wall and it sounds like a bone breaking. Probably a 7/10. Passable work.]

He's gone! Why is he gone!? BRING HIM BACK!!

[He's a mess of hair and glowing green eyes and rage. He slams his fist on the table just in case that last bit wasn't clear enough.]

Do you hear me, Atroma?! [His voice cracks mid-yell thanks elf puberty.] I will hunt you down! I'll dismantle you piece by piece! I'll wipe you from EXISTENCE! I'll-- I'll--

[His eyes well up and he cuts off the feed, presumably to hurl more things at the wall until he feels better.]

Belthazar. [ At first she says his name quietly, possibly too low and mumbled to be picked up by the device in hand.

Which is why she wills her own voice stern and loud for the second attempt. ]

[well, she's worried, but... even if they're on the same ship, going to see him in person seems like a terrible idea right now.]

What happened? Are you all right?

[ oh no. oh god what is happening why is this elfchild crying. ]

Who has gone?

[ Instead of bothering with the video feed, she just makes her way over there immediately. She keeps a bit of a distance, but she definitely makes her presence known in the doorway, waiting for him to get some more of that out of his system before she speaks up. ]

[Yeah, he's a mess. There's no point in hiding it.]

What?

[The T is sharp enough to cut someone.]

[He doesn't respond immediately. He's too busy throwing books. WHAM. WHAM. WHOMPFF. WHAM.]

They took my father. [This kind of seething anger is really unlike him, but maybe he just buries it a lot.]

[A very undignified sniffle. He tries to quiet himself down because... uh... it's no one's fault here, but he's still mad, so he's going to kick his bed first. A couple times.]

Adra. Adra is gone.

[ she has no idea who that is, but that matters little in the moment. ]

Returned home, I assume? I am... sorry. Having someone you care for taken from you can be difficult, but surely you are not alone here now.

[... Ooooooh. Oh. Okay, that does explain it. Nightingale's very familiar with people turning out of character when it comes to family.]

I understand. ... I'm going to put on some tea, if you want some once you've calmed down a little. It might help.

[He's quiet for a moment when he realizes someone's out there. He doesn't know who it is, but even he has some shame. He knows he shouldn't cry but here he is, crying anyway. He picks himself up off the floor and shuffles over to the hatch, but he doesn't invite her in immediately.

He'll just talk to her through the door, because he's really a child and we all know it.]

Calm yourself. [ Alisaie is only experienced in handling these matters from Belth's own point of view. When she threw her own fits of rage and grief, everyone just let her be instead of try to console her because there was no comfort to be found the day of the Calamity. ]

Lest your intent is to have everyone believing in you to be nothing more than a childish fool.

[ She's so great at this, you guys. ]

It doesn't matter. If I don't return home, I'll never see him again.

[He wipes his face on his big black sleeves.]

I hate this.

[He's about to snap at her, but he catches himself.]

Don't waste your energy on me.

[He's just gonna sit here in the middle of his tiny floor, probably.]

There is always a chance for you to return home. And when you do, you will see him again.

[ stop crying it's making her heart hurt. ;c ]

It will be all right, you just have to be strong. I know not of Adra, but I doubt he would wish to see you so upset.

[Oh. Well. That's not a good sound. Cheese remembers Belthazar being like this once before, so he can make a vague guess about what's upset him so much. Still, he'll make his way to his friend's door, nudging it open carefully and peering inside.

At least he's a pretty small target to have things thrown at him. He paws the ground worriedly, ears back.]

...Belth?

No.

[ She's just as obstinate. And she knows that doing any such thing will only make how he's feeling worse. ]

I'm going to stay put.

[She doesn't bother with the communicator, she just goes. It doesn't matter who it is. What matters is Belthazar is in pain. So she just goes.

When she's there where he's treating everything apart in his rage and sorrow, she doesn't stand off, waiting to be noticed, or for the storm to calm. No, Syeira just wades in. If she gets hit, she gets hit. The only thing that matters is Belth, and getting to him.

When she's close enough, her hands goes to his shoulders, gentle but firm, to turn him to her. And then he'll find himself in a hug that she won't easily let him run away from.]

[He's not trying to hit her, but he's so surprised when syeira pops into his room that he nearly throws a book at her head. He stops with the book still in his hand, thankfully, but the shock on his face is clear. The last thing he wants to do is hurt anyone. His tears are plain on his flushed face, and he immediately drops the book to the floor.

That's when she envelops him in a hug, and he almost doesn't know how to respond. Thankfully his body remembers. The firm backbone he keeps simply gives out, and he turns to complete mush in her arms-- everything except his fingers, which cling desperately to the fabric of whatever she's wearing.]

[It's a good thing Cheese is tiny. He hurls another book at the wall, only to catch a glimpse of the pony out of the corner of his eye. He feels bad immediately. It's one thing to throw a tantrum behind closed doors, and quite another to have people actually there to witness his awful crying shame.]

You-- you shouldn't be here.

[He can't even tell Cheese to go away, he'd feel too bad.]

[He wipes his face on his sleeves, then opens the door. He doesn't invite her in, exactly, but he's feeling the anger drain so... he turns his back and begins picking things up off the floor.

The only thing that's broken is the chair, at least.]

I don't want to go home! I can't. I can't give up what I have here, and that's why... that's why I...

[It's so hard not to just give in and start wailing, but he's a little too old for that. He sniffles quietly instead and tries to will his voice into steadiness.]

He's always so patient with me. I-I never understood why anyone showed me such kindness.

[He's silent for a beat or two.]

... You have a sister?

[She does appeal to his sense of pride. He's ashamed now that the anger is beginning to fade. He sniffles and tries to pull himself together; the result is a boy who is diffident and sulky, but not screaming.]

They took my father.

[He knew their time was limited, but the reminder always hurts more.]

[She's strong enough to support him when he gives way and clings to her. Her arms are firm and warm, with a sense that she could pick him up and hold him if it was needed.

She doesn't say anything like 'it's okay' or tell him to hush, because it's not okay and he has every right to scream himself hoarse if he wants to. And she will stand there and give him something real to hold onto, for as long as he wants.]
