[ To say that Ramse is displeased is an understatement. This is the second time he's been yanked from one world to another, and where the first was actually an improvement, this second place is... not. Outerspace. Really. Really?! They don't even have space travel in his time, though he knows that in the past people made it as far as the moon. Nothing like this. His outrage at being taken is the overwhelming thing, though. He was happy in Eudio, where there was food and people he cared for. They told him they were sending him home (something he already had mixed feelings about) and instead he's here. Having to learn a new way of life all over again and excuse me it's being watched?

He's found the armory and the clothes in his bunk room, at least, so now he's dressed and armed. He sits in the cold empty space while he fiddles with the communicator. It turns out to be easy to use, and when he makes a broadcast his voice is deep and grumbly. Someone's sooooo cranky. ]

So let me get this straight, I'm new and might not have understood. We're here... to be entertainment. Not to save the world, not to help with a war, not to do anything productive at all.

Yeah. How do we leave?

[Celeste's in her bunk, as she has been - well, all day. No one's come to call her into work yet, and as she's in the heavy, lethargic grip of quite a deep depression, she sees absolutely no reason to move. Some days are better than others since she got here, with today being one of the worst since her arrival.

Idly, she reaches for her comm to skim it again, since it's really her only form of entertainment at the moment.]

Would it really be better to help with a war that isn't your cause?

[And then she sits up so quickly, it's a wonder she doesn't slam her head against the upper bunk.]

Ramse? [Her voice breaks and splinters on the name, and she looks caught between weeping and laughing hysterically.] Oh my God, Ramse, it's so good - I mean it's horrible, I can't believe - but -

[And that's when it strikes her, what Kitty said. There may be people you know from your previous universe, but there's no guarantee they went through the same place this time. A mask of caution slipping over her features, she continues more softly.]

Nothing's ever been my cause than survival. So no, it just strikes me as a better reason for dragging somebody in.

Celeste?!

[ Ramse drags a hand down his face -- just how many people leaving the city had wound up here instead of home? He's all set to get angrier when her voice turns uncertain and he has to take a breath, softening his tone to match. ]

Of course I do. Where are you? They moved me from the big ship to the... Starstruck. Maybe I can get to you.

I've been taken before but not there, and it was nothing like this. A place called Eudio.

Did you come straight from your home?

[Now she's definitely swinging closer to tears, a hand over her mouth for a moment while she composes herself. Just the sound of him saying her name - she'd had no idea how scared she was that this Ramse wouldn't know her until he did, and now the relief would probably make her sag to the floor if she were standing.

Quickly, she starts to climb out of her bunk, the video ever-shifting.]

No, no, I'll come to you. I know where all the ships are on the station, I've been exploring. Thank god you came while we're still docked somewhere... I'll be right there, Ramse, just wait on the bridge.

Oh, yeah, Celeste mentioned that place. You're not Caleb, right? [She doesn't know much about the situation. Just that she should let her know if a Caleb from Eudio shows up.]

And no, I came from MarinaNova before this. [Saying "the prison" gets looks.]

Alright, I'm heading back there. Keep your video on. [ His starts to shift as well as he makes his way back to the bridge. ] You've been on the station a lot? I haven't gotten off the ships.

[ He's talking just to keep talking, since she's obviously in distress. When she arrives she'll see him in a crisp new uniform but looking just the same as she remembers. There's also still confetti all over from his transfer. ]

[ He just got a message from Celeste, so he doesn't do the double take he might have at hearing she's here. Though now he knows that Caleb isn't, and that must suck for her. ]

What was MarinaNova like? Eudio was a nice city.

As much as I can, it's actually - almost normal, probably as close as I'll get for a good while. It's all mad, Ramse, this whole thing is mad...

[Although she has had a chance to stock up on makeup, today she's not wearing any, and her hair is mussed in the back from lounging around. Granted, Ramse's seen her camping, so it won't be new to him - maybe just a surprise, since she usually kept herself so carefully groomed.

And after her feet pound up the ramp and onto the ship, racing for the bridge, he'll also see that she's in her standard-issue plain white tank with the top of the jumpsuit unfastened and loose around her waist. Only her bright red boots show any mark of her personal style on this day. She freezes up when she first catches sight of Ramse, but then the familiarity of him, another one of those washes of relief - it's all too overwhelming, and she sprints across the space between them to throw her arms around him.]

Kitty Pryde. [She nods.]

It was a nice city in a dome, underwater which also happened to be a prison.

You'll have to show me around, then, I could use some normal.

[ He hears her coming and turns off the communicator, and while he was expecting the lack of makeup and the jumpsuit and all that it's still confusing to see in person. Not that he gives even half a shit how groomed Celeste is. She runs towards him and he catches her easily, just slightly lifting her off the ground as he holds her and doesn't let go. For a long moment that's all he does, then he speaks into her hair. ]

Who else is here?

[ There's something almost like hope in his voice but mostly it's wariness. ]

An underwater dome, huh... no, outerspace is still weirder. [ He doesn't blink at the prison part. He's been in actual prison.]

What did they bring you there for?

[She's no more inclined to let go than he is, trembling in his arms but gripping him so tightly that it'd probably hurt a weaker man. Ramse is anything but weak, though, and she's not surprised in the slightest when she's lifted to the very tips of her toes. It would've made her laugh, in another time and place.

As it is, his question just makes her want to cry even more. But she holds herself together as much as she can, for his sake.]

There's - I don't know if you knew Shai, but she's here, I've spoken to her - other than that, there's no one - the people here are lovely, but I was meant to be going home, they said they were sending me home, it's the only reason I ever would've left...

[Even when she knows it's not Eudio's fault, that Atroma did this all on their own, there's still a sting of betrayal in her voice. Those words do snap her out of her own emotions very quickly, though, because Ramse - oh god, if he was in the same situation - they had so much more at stake, Ramse and Cole and Cassie. She doesn't even realise exactly how much Ramse had at stake, not yet, but what she knows is enough to make her grave as she pulls away a little.]

Were you - did you fill your contract as well?

[ Nope. Nope she doesn't get to pull away, especially if she's asking about that. Ramse lets her stand on her own but draws her back into a hug, needing it just as much as he figures she does. He wasn't ready to go home -- Cole and Cassie had gone before him and he didn't know what they'd done, what their incentives had changed. But he'd remained, and settled in even further.

No one else he knew. Cole and Cassie hadn't been snagged. Sheva wasn't here. Celeste was. That's what mattered at the moment. ]

I did. They said they'd send me home and I was thinking about asking to stay longer when I wound up here.

Some bullshit reason, isn't it?

[ There's something familiar about the kind and pitying look, something Ramse doesn't want to think about right now. But he tries to sound less angry than he actually is, since it's not with her. ]

Random. So they're not even keeping track of the people they kidnap?

[ she recognizes his reaction and resolves not to take it personally. she's apologetic in her response ]

Well, I just mean, it seems random to us. They don't do it based on any particular petition or plea, as far as I know. But I haven't even been here a month...

[It's not a laugh, but she does smile slightly when she's pulled right back in, just tilting her face so that her cheek rests against his chest. This is a horrible situation in so many ways, but at least he's here. Maybe they can be foundations for each other, help one another rebuild.]

I'm sorry, Ramse. [It's almost a whisper, but her voice gets stronger when she speaks up again.] But it's not - I don't know, maybe you've figured this out because you're not as paranoid as me, but it's not Eudio's doing. I thought they'd completely sold me out when I got here and made an utter fool of myself over it, but this place - it just takes people. Steals them.

[Shivering, she presses a bit closer to him.]

So now we wait. Never really knowing if Eudio did us any good at all until Atroma see fit to set us free.

It's a reason I've heard that actually sounds like a reason.

[ Have a very cranky monk, Ramse. Like you, he is very unsatisfied with the fact that he's stuck. ]

For me I'd have to say it was the dome. [But then space travel wasn't that odd. She just had more domestic issues to work on.]
