feb 25-29. fleetwide broadcast.

[The feed starts with a panting boy, not much older than eighteen, a fairly ordinary looking boy, dressed in quite simple attire, the only strange feature being the lightning-shaped scar above a brow. Appearing to have just woken up from what might be a nightmare, he clutches at the mark, squinting as though confused, as if he expects something that isn't quite right. His hand absentmindedly searches for an item alongside him on the bed before plucking a pair of glasses that he places at the bridge of his nose. That's when he seems to notice his surroundings, the blur of his vision finally fading, and he frantically looks about the area.]

Ron!? Hermione!? Hermione! [His voice is panicked, worry swelling from his throat to his words.] Are you — ?

[The feed is accidentally knocked over, shutting off for some moments. When it comes back, it seems a span of minutes has passed and the boy appears much more collected, breathing more steadily. His voice is still slightly shaky but he manages to speak quite clearly.]

Does anyone ... do you happen to believe in, in magic? [A simple question, but it'd narrow down whether he's in wizard or muggle territory.] Or is the word Hogwarts familiar in any possible way?

mar 01. ss pathstone action.

[Considering the number of days he'd spent on the Marsiva, it all happens quite fast when he's teleported away (he wants to believe he's been disapparated, but somehow he has the inkling - and knowledge - that that's not quite it) into a strange room. A bridge, he realizes. He's not quite sure how he knows, but he does, glancing around at consoles and buttons that he's never seen before but somehow don't seem strange at all.

What is strange is the plate in his hand. Something chocolate, it appears, though he isn't too sure if it's safe to eat. Food that comes out of nowhere usually isn't something to be trusted.

Still clutching the plate for the time being however, he glances around, pacing quite slowly and cautiously as if trying to decipher his location. Finally, he speaks, quite loudly despite the hesitance in his tone.] Is there anyone about?

I believe in magic. Though saying that makes me feel like I'm supposed to be clapping to bring fairies back to life or something.

[She tilts her head.] Are you okay? [You don't seem okay.]

[He'd be a fool not to recognize him.

Oh, he looks a little different-- thinner cheeks, a darker set to his eyes, and of course they're green-- but he knows who this is. He knows, because he's spent hours and hours watching over him as a baby; he's spent ages with his father, so long that he knows James' face just as well as his own. How could he not know who this is?

Still. It takes him a moment-- and then he's grinning, absolutely beaming into the camera.]

Harry?

Clap fairies back to life? [He takes a moment to contemplate that, to consider that before his eyes narrow in bewilderment.] Well, that's not ... quite how magic works, but ...

[But he'll take it. Sighing, he rubs at his forehead, glancing down.]

I'm ... alright. A bit surprised. Confused, mostly.

Don't worry about it.

I mean I've known witches. [One of her crewmates is a witch, but she's not going to mention that over the network to random stranger guy.]

I don't think we were brought here with magic though. [More her own bias toward scientific explanations really.] If this is a "being new" confusion. [She hasn't been around long enough to know all the faces in the Fleet and that's not the Marsiva in the background.]

[Harry, however, doesn't recognize the man. Not at first anyway, his eyes growing wide with surprise at being known in such a strange place (at home, yes, it's normal, hearing the glee of Harry Potter! from every excitable or threatening wizard. But he knows he must be far from home and while he's hopeful for a familiar face, he doesn't quite expect one.

And then the gears in his head adjust and the memory begins to piece together. The man is younger, but he's still seen it before. He's seen this face of youth in old memories he had wandered through, but it's an aged version that he knows best, worn with old wrinkles and tiredness as he remembers it. A face he never thought he'd see again.

Especially not at this age.

His eyes soften in a sudden sadness.] ... Remus?

[ The call urges a small girl with fluffy blonde hair to timidly step out from behind a wall. Elize doesn't look much older than eleven or twelve. She's in a long, plain nightgown that she usually wears when she's spending time on the ship and toting her purple doll in one arm.

She doesn't need to question whether he's a visitor or not. The plate of dessert gives away that he's yet another new crewmate. ]

...I-I'm here. You can eat the dessert. It's okay.

[It's cowardly, maybe, to ignore the sadness. He knows what he sees, but-- god help him, he doesn't want to know about the future. Better to focus on the now, on the joy of seeing his friend's son, of seeing this boy grown and somehow here. He's allowed to maintain his happiness, isn't he?]

Merlin, look at you-- how old are you? I can't-- bloody hell, I last saw you as a baby, how are you?

[Lucky (or probably unluckily) for Harry, Crowley does, indeed happen to be about when he arrives. The demon meanders through into the bridge to peer at the newcomer. He looks familiar, but Crowley's seen that many faces through the years away from home that he honestly can't place him. ]

Welcome to the Pathstone. You'll probably regret getting this ship, but there you go. Sometimes life gives you lemons that are mouldy and inedible.

[ Ron and Hermione must be important people. Padme isn't familiar with everyone on the Fleet, however. But she can tell that they're important to him, and she is sure of one thing.

Kindly: ] This broadcast reaches everyone on the Fleet. If your friends are here, they'll be able to see it.

As for magic, it depends on your definition.

[He knows the face simply because this seems to happen a lot. He's never even properly known Harry Potter, just the name and the fact that nearly everyone from his world seems to be connected to him in some way. Not that he's paid attention to the specifics. In some small way he feels incredibly sorry for people like him, that seem to continuously attract the attention of forces like Atroma.]

I know about magic and your school, though don't get too excited, I've never actually been there.

[He'd been to a place that Paradisa made to look like it, to complicate the matter even further.]

[and natalie, upon hearing and seeing him, pauses in her tracks and stares for a moment. then, being the eloquent girl she is:]

Hoooooooly shit, you're Harry Potter.

[ At first, she's terrified. There's a bolt of fear that runs through her, exploding somewhere deep, because this is Harry - the one she remembers, the sweet boy that had been her best friend. She knows, straight away, that she isn't the Hermione he is going to remember and she feels a surge of panic and terror. It's not until she gathers her courage that she really thinks about it... And she knows it won't matter.

It can't matter. This is Harry.

Right? ]

You don't have to shout. I can hear you.

Are you - all right?

[ Because honestly, this kid is acting pretty erratic, freaking out and then asking a ridiculous question about magic, as though it's something one believes in, and not just a fact of the universe. ]

Did you hit your head? Do you need a healer?

I know of Hogwarts, but not because I've been.

( Or is even from their world. Go meeting people that have been to Hogwarts. Or even Harry themselves once upon a time )

And I believe in magic.

( She has magic. The same reasons she met Harry once. Somewhere else )

[Bored.] Only a fool doesn't believe in magic.

Though I suppose it depends upon how one defines magics, yes?

[Hogwarts... friend of Remus's perhaps? He'll spy a bit.]

Magic? [ he laughs, a rough bark of a thing. ] Adorable.

[ ... oh.

well, if it weren't for the shouting about of hermione and the question of hogwarts, james would already know. how could he not? he's identical. same face, same hair, same mouth, same nose -- but the eyes are different. he's got lily's eyes. and he's clutching at his head for some reason. is that a scar?

what should he do? what should he do, what should he do... he should probably just leave this to remus, remus would handle this better, but this is (probably) his son, and james has some level of responsibility to assure him that he's fine, and -- ]

You're just going to jump right into it, are you?

[ dryly, the very picture of someone who is Totally Not Freaking Out On The Inside, and james is fiddling with something that he probably stole from anakin while he sits at the pilot's helm of the paisley, eyes bright -- curious, watching harry with recognition, but james looks young. around the same age as harry. not touched by war. yet. ]

Let me know if people handle magic half as well as a school named Hogwarts, 'cause I've found Muggles around here have a hell of a lot more difficulty with the second part than they do the first.

[He spins on his heel in surprise, almost attempting to reach for a wand that's usually tucked in his pocket (which he continues to forget is absent now, long since taken away from his arrival). But then he catches sight of her, so small, so young, which should be such an odd thing to find in such a place but then wasn't he himself only eleven when he had gone to Hogwarts, fighting against dark spells and evil wizards? Age hardly says anything about a person's capabilities.

His eyes dart down to the plate when she draws attention to it.] What's it for? What's it ... celebrating? [If that's what this is, anyway.]

[Harry examines the stranger for a long time in silence when he wanders in, unsure of what to make of him, really. It's been so hard to judge anyone, even after all of those he'd seen on the Marsiva. From so many different worlds, everyone was strange, really. And that was coming from a wizard.]

Why? What's wrong with this ship?

[It's a comforting thought, at least. That Ron and Hermione might find him like this. That anyone he knows just might. He'd hardly been here for — minutes? hours? He could hardly tell — and already he'd begun to feel quite homesick.

But she speaks with kindness and even for just this tiny moment, that's almost enough to settle him.]

Wizards and witches, spell casting and that sort of thing. That's the kind I know, anyway.

[He hadn't made any mention of Hogwarts being a school which is what mostly captures his attention. There's truth in the statement which keeps Harry in a mixture of excitement and caution. It's still a stranger he sees, even if he might know something helpful, best to keep on his toes.]

How is it that you know of it then?

[Being known is always nice, but Harry's met hundreds who've known his name so it's not quite always a good thing. But her reaction is certainly ... unique from what he's used to. All in all, it prompts a look of surprise with a raised brow.]

I'm Harry Potter. [Just confirming that for her.] You know me then?

[There's no video attached with this connection but that hardly matters. He knows the voice, one that sends an electric current through him because he'd been in such a panic before, thought her to have been gone and vanished like his other best friend. He thought he'd been alone but no — she's here. He almost stops breathing from the relief of it.]

Hermione! Hermione, you're here. Where are you? Are you with Ron? I thought —

[I thought something had happened to you.]

[He shakes his head first though it isn't until after that he stops to consider whether in fact he is alright. But his body feels fine, no aches or pains, not jolts from his scar, nothing physically hurting. Most of it is mentally connected, really.]

No, I'm ... I'm fine. I didn't hit anything. I'm just trying to figure out if my friends are around.
