That's true enough. A Jedi can fill many roles if the need is great, such as strategy or negotiation. Useful tools for a general. I can't say I favor wartime much.

I imagine it takes the wrong sort of person to enjoy war. There's so much pointless death no matter what the reason for it is.

No. There are never any good reasons.

Still, the Jedi are duty-bound to help those in need. We cannot abandon people simply because we dislike the tides of war.

But which people are you helping? Does each side have Jedi, or are you certain that you're on the right one?

The other side has the Sith. The opposite of the Jedi. The Sith sow destruction, ruin . . . despair. I doubt they care which side wins, so long as everyone loses.

[nerdeology]

...I see... so you're fighting your natural enemy.

The Sith and the Jedi have always been at odds, trying to wipe the other out. The success of their endeavours has been varied.

Does one have more power than the other, or are you generally equal?

[ He takes his time with that question. ]

It depends. The Sith have always been two. That being said, those two have amazing abilities. It's hard to say which has more power unless they face off in battle. Sometimes, we lose. Sometimes, it is the Sith.

With dire consequences, apparently.

My apologies, this is a dark train of thought. Is it a relief to be free of that for a while, at least?

It comes to some relief. Though I wonder what state our galaxy is in right now.

[ Especially since the Sith are now left fairly unchecked. ]

I wonder that sometimes, too, though on a much smaller scale, admittedly. It sounds like it would be an overwhelming responsibility, worrying about the entire galaxy.

I try not to do it every day.

You'd probably be exhausted by now if you did.

This place has a decent amount of distractions, at least.

For the most part. I find it odd at times. I was never one to be in the same place for so long.

Does it still count as being in one place when the fleet is so often in motion?

It does. Very rarely do I spend an entire month on the same planet. At the most, I would be there for a week or two.

It's the opposite for me. I spent eighteen years in the same village. It was only a few months before coming here that I started to travel.

And now?

You've seen a little of space. How do you feel about traversing through it?

Ah... my feelings are mixed. I like exploring- that part has been very interesting. But I don't like the feel of space, or the ships. Seraphim are very much a part of nature, and this is as far from nature as you can get. The water here isn't... right.

What do you mean?

[ He has felt disjointed to the Living Force since he got here, but that has never been Obi-Wan's strong point. ]

I'm not sure if I can explain it properly, but... I'll try.

[It won't be easy. It's such an integral part of who he is. How does he even begin to find words to describe it?]

Water is symbolic of life itself, for countless beings in existence. It sustains them, it sustains the food they consume, it makes things grow. In that way, it's connected to everything. Every drop has history no matter where you go. On a natural world, I can feel that... I'm a water seraph. It sustains me, too.

[He reaches a hand out to the sink, grasping, and a bubble of water is pulled from under the suds to rest in his hand, holding its spherical shape.]

This... it looks normal, but it's not connected to anything. There's no world, no life, and no power. It comes from nothing and is reused over and over, never changing. I've never encountered water before that was... just water.

It's not connected to the Living Force. It's not returned to where it came, not part of the Force's cycle.

Jedi are connected to the Living Force. It's how I noticed you, after all. We're sensitive to the changes in the lifeflow of the universe.
