[ it had been a few weeks since he'd actually formally met sasuke on the network, since he'd been grilled about his intentions with ino, and yeah - allen's reassurances helped a lot, but it had planted a seed of doubt in him. okay, fine, right: he should probably talk it over with her.

it's early in the morning when he wakes and rolls over, pulling ino's back against his chest and leaning down to sleepily press his face against her cheek. ]

Hey.

[ groggy, but warm. he's probably waking her up, but oh well. :') ]

[ Yeah, he kind of did wake her up, but she's a light sleeper anyways. So she doesn't seem to mind too much when he does that -- she just takes in a deep breath, lets out a content little sigh, and moves to turn over to face him. ]

'Morning.

[ She pauses. It is morning, right? It's so hard to tell when you don't actually have, you know, a window facing outwards on a planet with sunlight and stuff.

... Well, if it's not, he's free to correct her. In the meantime, she just drapes an arm over his waist. ]

[ishere]

Morning.

[ it's - probably morning? he's just going to assume it's morning. it feels like morning, at least. he shifts slightly, eyes heavy-lidded while he watches her. ]

We've got plans today.

[ino]

[ She's blinking, slightly surprised. What day is it again? ]

We do?

[ She's struggling to remember, reaching up to rub the sleep out of her eyes ]

What are they?

[ishere]

Boring stuff.

[ his eyes are closed again, but there's a little smile on his face. okay, maybe he's still a little wrapped up in what sasuke said to him, but there's no denying getting to wake up like this is still just kind of awesome. ]

D'you celebrate Valentine's in your world?

[ at least the fact that he's never asked her is on purpose... if she didn't, it could just be a cool romantic surprise, right? right.

(look this "learning to be a boyfriend" thing is a work in progress.) ]

[ino]

Oh.

[ ... Give her a second to process that. ]

... Oh!

[ Oh shit. It's Valentine's Day. And they have "plans"! Tadashi, be glad your girlfriend has possibly the lowest standards a person can have about being taken out on a day like this without outright hating Valentine's Day.

She grins in excitement and sits up, twisting in the bed to reach under her side of it in order to retrieve ~something~. She'll answer his question while she's searching with a somewhat blind hand ]

There's a festival that's sort of like it, but -- since I've been away from there most people just celebrate Valentine's Day instead.

[ishere]

[ look, if there was a handbook to read or if he had more female friends to ask about this kind of thing...

he leans forward slightly, trying to catch a glimpse of whatever it is she's reaching for. ]

Good. [ and then, mostly to himself: ] And I'm sure Sasuke will tell me all about the festival later.

[ino]

[ She lets out a little exasperated sigh, scooting back onto the bed properly with a small box in her hands ]

I'm sorry about him. He's just ... got a lot of reasons to be worried about what could happen.

[ But anyways. It's Valentine's Day, and she isn't about to waste it defending her weird childhood crush. ]

Anyways ... this is for you.

[ She holds out the box for him to take; if he opens it, he'll find a box full of chocolates. But these aren't just ANY chocolates ... they're Baymax-shaped, and have peanut butter in the middle. ]

[ishere]

No, I know, I'm not - I get what he's trying to do. He's a little over-invested in the pace of our relationship, but...

[ he trails off when he opens the chocolates, and then does very nearly a double-take. ]

It's Baymax.

[ HOLY SHIT he is filled with wonder right now. these are awesome. ]

You made me little peanut butter Baymaxes.

[ino]

[ Yeah, that's ... well, she's just not even going to address that. Sasuke is weird, and there's not much she can do or say about it other than agreeing with him about how awkward it is.

Instead, she just grins a little at his expression. ]

You're incredible. Did you know that?

[ he puts the box down, trying to tug her over for a kiss. ]

[ino]

[ She laughs a little, leaning in when she's pulled to kiss him ]

[ he'll shift a little, trying to keep her close even as he sits up. tadashi isn't quite ready to get out of bed just yet, and he's definitely trying to sneak in a cuddle before he does. ]

And hey- before we get going today, I kind of wanted to ask you about something? Nothing bad, so don't get nervous.

[ How dare he try to cuddle her!!!! No, she's perfectly content to curl up next to him instead of getting all the way up. But she looks up at him curiously when he says that ... ]

Eh? What is it?

[ She just assumes it's probably something about Konoha, or along those lines, so she's not too worried about it ... ]

[ishere]

I know you told me not to worry about what Sasuke says...

[ he trails off, trying to figure out how to word this. ]

But he brought something up that I've been thinking about.

[ LMAO HE'S STALLING because he feels awkward af sorry. ]

[ino]

[ She stares for a moment ...

If this is what she thinks it is, she is seriously going to murder a certain other shinobi. Like, one hundred times.

She keeps her tone even, not (yet) betraying her irritation towards Sasuke for getting involved.]

You get why I haven't, uh - why I've never really talked about the whole "marriage" thing, right?

[ino]

[ Yep.

Uchiha Sasuke is officially a dead man. ]

Tadashi ...

[ She sighs, and moves out of his hold to turn and face him properly ]

Listen. The thing about Sasuke is that he's really good at pretending like he knows everything when he actually doesn't. He doesn't understand the situation and he doesn't know anything about being in a relationship to begin with, let alone what you should do when.

[ She reaches over to cover one of his hands with hers ]

... It's true that if we were in Konoha it'd be a little weird at this point, just based on the way things usually go ... so that's probably why he said all of that, but his opinion doesn't matter. Taking things as they come is just ... the way you have to handle things like this. And even if it wasn't, it's between us to decide things like that, and no one else.

[ishere]

No, Ino, it's okay, that's not really... [ he half-smiles at her, strangely sheepish and definitely still vaguely nervous, even as he twists his hand to grip ino's. ] Don't worry: I definitely don't care about his opinion on me- or us.

[ tadashi shrugs, suddenly not sure he's on stable footing himself. he knows what he wants to say, but he doesn't know if he can word it the right way. ]

I guess I just wanted to say, uh. If we weren't here, if things were a little more - certain. I probably would've brought it up by now. That's all.

[ino]

[ Honestly, what he's just said is plenty. The fact that he was thinking about it at all, that he's not throwing the idea out the window entirely, is ... ]

... Oh.

[ Is she blushing? Welp. ]

Well, um ... that's.

[ There's the small problem of her not exactly knowing how to respond to that from there, though, so ... ]

... That's good. I mean. I'm glad to know that.

[ishere]

[ she's blushing and now he's blushing, because he's suddenly worried that this isn't something she wants to hear. oh my god how does he girl. how does this work. ]

Sorry, I didn't mean to just- spring it on you like that.

[ino]

[ She shakes her head ]

No, it's -- it's not like that. I mean, I kind of guessed you might be thinking about it after Sasuke mentioned it.

I just ...

[ She looks down at their hands, trying to find the right words here. ]

Since I left home, I've never ... I've never been able to even hope that something like that could happen, you know? Between the way things are with these places, and the guys that I was seeing not ... really ready or able to make any kind of real commitment ...

[ She trails off, before she shakes her head. Complaining about that type of thing wasn't really where she was trying to go with this. ]

I guess the point is, there's still relationship stuff I'm pretty new to, too.
