[ Kara is also taking advantage of the hot springs to relax, coming out when Beverly is in a poo. Her blonde hair is piled on top of her head and she didn't bother with her glassesl ]

[Beverly looks up with a smile. A new person!]

[She scoots to another side of the pool to make room.]

I'm Kara. I'm on the Tourist. I'd shake your hand but I'm not sure how everyone feels about the... well, feelings.

[She chuckles.] Oh, I don't mind... some of my best friends are empaths, so this isn't all that strange to me.

[She sticks out a hand. If Kara takes it, she might get a residual flash of memory of Deanna and Daneel, but mostly there's just a warm interest in meeting someone new.]

Beverly Crusher. SS Blue Fish.

[ she takes it. Kara exudes on the inside what she's showing on the outside, which is an upbeat, warm glow ]

Oh! Are you the Beverly? The doctor?

The Beverly, huh? Well, I don't know about all that, but I am a doctor, yes.

Jim's mentioned you, and he's our captain now. It's nice to meet you, though. Knowing a doctor is probably useful, anyway.

[The corner of her mouth quirks with amusement.]

I have my good moments.

[She leans forward, eyes sparkling mischeviously.]

Though I am curious now as to what Captain Kirk has said about me.

Only awful things, I assure you.

[ she can't even pretend that's true. but sorry to break the mystery with a serious topic ]

Mostly that you're his emergency contact.

He told me about what he went through, medically, and told me that you were the only other person here to know, as well. I figure you should know that I know.

Ah. [Her smile falls away as she straightens up again.] Thank you for telling me.

[The question is, how much does Kara know?]

May I ask what exactly he told you about the blood transfusion?

That he'd taken on too much radiation, and he was pretty well.... dead. But the blood was engineered and actually reversed the damage.

He was having a nightmare and I heard him, so I went in to talk to him. I don't know if he'd want you to know that part.

[dancingmd]

[Sounds as if she maybe doesn't know the significance of that engineered blood for humans of the Federation, so Beverly doesn't push that further.]

I think... it's hard for him, sometimes, that I know him from history. The Great Captain Kirk - it's a lot to live up to.

[She smiles sadly.]

But I'm just happy to have someone from home here, famous or not.

I can understand that—on both accounts. I have a slightly different legacy to live up to, but it's important to me to not let anyone down. Also my best friend is here. He showed up after me and it's been really amazing.

You're fortunate to have him then.

[Her mouth quirks with amusement as she imagines Jean-Luc in the fleet.]

Though I'm fairly certain my best friend would manage to ruffle more than a few feathers if he were to ever shows up.

He's a captain, too. My captain. But he's not always quite as... flexible as Kirk.

[Not really a criticism - both have their strengths and weaknesses, but in the case of the Drift Fleet, she could see where Jean-Luc would have a difficult time when it came to people's resistance to organization and authority.]

Now, see, part of me wants to make a joke about that?

[Beverly laughs, imagining the look of consternation on Jean-Luc's face if he heard that. Oh, he just makes it too easy to tease him.]

I'm sure Kirk at least would appreciate it.

I've probably been spending too much time with him, in all honesty.

What's your friend's name?

[Her smile grows fond as she says his name.]

Jean-Luc. Jean-Luc Picard.

[She's one of the rare few to call him by his first name, after all.]

So, I'm not totally sure I'm clear about how you know Jim from home? Just different ships?

Ah... not quite.

[Ironically, the ship is one of the few things that is the same.]

I don't know him personally - he's a figure from history class, for me. He was born about a hundred years before I was. And to make things more complicated, the Kirk here is also from a universe parallel to mine.

Sounds complicated, but normal for here. I have parallel universe friends here, too. Their friend actually crossed the dimensional barrier at home and I hung out with him for a day before he had to go back. Then his friends showed up here.

Mmm... It's not the first time I've encountered parallel universes either. It just makes it difficult to know what I can tell him sometimes.
