I believe so, from what Sokka and Zuko have told me. There are... difficulties ahead, no doubt, but she's where she belongs and she's with her friends, doing what she loves.

Good. I am glad. Bran did not know -- and I fear that only deepened his sadness.

I hope Sokka talks to him about it then... Though these past few weeks.

He's hurting, isn't he? [ ... ] I would be, were I him.

[ and yet she also suspects she's far weaker than their captain. ]

[Beverly nods.]

I think he's hurting more than he lets on.

[steeledskin]

[ that makes sense. and yet, she must ask: ] What makes you believe so?

Have you tried to talk to him directly about it? He is quick to deflect it on another member of the crew - that you should worry about them instead, that they're having a hard time.

Which is not in itself a bad thing. It's good he is always thinking of our well-being, but he must think of himself too.

Have you told him so?

I have in the past, yes... but perhaps it is time to remind him again.

[steeledskin]

Mayhaps we could remind him together.

[dancingmd]

[She smiles softly.]

Maybe. He won't be able to stand against two determined redheads, now will he?

[ her laughter is wry -- tickled, but hollow. ]

What has the colour of our hair to do with it, my lady?

[She laughs too, short and slightly apologetic.]

Ah - it's a... stereotype in my world, that redheads are feisty and stubborn - not someone you want to argue with.

[steeledskin]

Like fire. [ her smile is small -- she understands the impression, then, even if she doesn't adhere to it. ] I fear I am less like fire and more like copper.

[ cool and almost-reflective. there is little flame left to her. ]

No doubt copper has its own means of persuasion.

Does it? [ her chin tilts. ] If so, I have not found it yet.

[ she lies. she knows half-routes to persuasion. she uses them even now, feigning innocence in order to ingratiate herself. ]

Oh, you're an intelligent young woman. I'm sure you'll find a way.

Mayhaps, I would. Back in Westeros. But the ways are all different, here.

[Her smile comes with a hint of embarrassment.]

No doubt you have heard Robb and I argue about such things before.

[steeledskin]

-- He has a bold tongue. [ it's almost an apology, but not quite. ] And he's proud. And he has a bit of fire in his hair, too, I suppose.

[ not as much as sansa, but it's there in the highlights. ]

[Beverly doesn't expect an apology, nor does she need one. No crew is ever going to get along perfectly, but that doesn't mean she's upset with Robb.]

Maybe just a little. Nonetheless, I'm glad he is on our ship.
