[Hank isn't one to turn down food, and with a murmured thanks takes some of what's offered.

It's easier to joke about his mutation, especially with people who are familiar with it. It's still something he tends to struggle with at times, and it's obvious considering how he's sitting here, pink and not blue, but it's getting easier. The "routine" he's worked out has worked well, too]

I can imagine. It gets bad in New York sometimes, but I doubt it's anything like down there.

Ah, most my time up there outside of missions was stuck on a snowfield under a giant metal dome. Makes things real borin'. [And a little obvious Mags, good thing it was in the middle of no where for no one to see it. And Remy was a Southern boy, snow was no fun to him.] Was a nice change to get back home after that.
beathach: (02)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-16 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
A . . . snowfield under a metal dome. [why does that immediately make him think of Erik? But his own dislike of snow is a mix of being from the midwest and spending too much time in a real covered in it. It really kills your love of winter]

I can imagine, though. When we got back from - er, the other place, it was nice to be away from the snow.

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-07-17 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Three guesses who made it 'nd the first two don't count. [A hint of a smirk as he said that before it vanished again.]

Ah, well ya'll lucky ya missed out on one of the previous planet we had been to, was all snow 'nd I tell ya, gettin' here with no proper snow clothin', it wasn't fun. Luckily they took credits so could get gear sorted quick fast.
beathach: (33)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-17 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Do I want to ask why? [he's not sure he wants to know; he's been good about avoiding details about the other worlds that he doesn't want to hear]

That's good, at least - ah, that they had gear available with credits. [he wrinkles his nose] I've had my fill of snow and cold for a while.
cajunspice: (:/)

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-07-19 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Offering a shrug to Hank's question and willing to drop it if he was, Remy instead picked at his own food as they spoke.] Oh yeah? We talkin' New York weather or... where ya'll were thrown 'nto before we became TV stars?
beathach: (178)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-19 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[he's happy to drop the subject; as odd as it is for him, he's getting the impression it isn't a pleasant memory for Remy, and he'd rather not go down that way when they're having a nice conversation]

The other world. Something happened and we - well, "switched" realms, and after that it was cold all the time, and the entire realm was covered in snow.
cajunspice: (>))

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-07-21 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Mon Dieu, can understand the need to get 'way from that then. [Bar those crazy people who like that kind of weather.] Ya'll clearly needed better travel companies to book with after gettin' sent to a place like that. One star out of five, wouldn't travel with again. [Because humor helped with dealing with past horrors, made them more of an ache than a constant burn.]
beathach: (96)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-22 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
[humor always helps with dealing with past anything, Hank is in full agreement]

We clearly do. That or we just have to figure out how to stop getting kidnapped.
cajunspice: (>D)

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-07-25 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
Would have quite a market for that if ya could manage that, as evident with the size of our Fleet, 'nd when that falls through can sell it as 'nsurance for those who travellin' overseas in dangerous areas where kidnappin's for money happens. [A grin shot Hank's way as Remy paused for another drink.] Take it ya'll have the jet in ya time, could even have a premium package which 'ncludes pick ups in said attempted kidnappin's situations.
beathach: (162)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-25 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah - we had a jet, more or less, but it's . . . well, it's been in pieces the last ten years. I haven't gotten around to rebuilding it yet. [it was on his list of projects to tackle when he got back home] On the bright side, it would have needed a few upgrades anyway, so it's better if I do it from scratch.

[don't make rebuilding a jet sound like it's easy, Hank]
cajunspice: (>))

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-07-26 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Remy mulled that over quietly as he placed his drink and food containers back away, done for now with them,] Just a project to do in ya spare time, hein? [Amused by how nonchalant Hank appeared in regards to the idea of, oh, rebuilding an entire plane, like it was a weekend project.] Between classes or something? I would say to treat it as a school project but if the kids ya'll got be 'nything like the ones at Xavier's back home they be the reason ya down a jet in the first place. 'nd van, 'nd other sections of the school they tested their powers out on.
beathach: (34)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-27 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that. That's how the first one got built, more or less. [he'll leave out the part that it was a CIA project that he technically stole for the purposes of Cuba. If it was even considered stealing, since it was his plane.

The thought of letting the children in on it, though . . . he makes a face]
I don't think we'll be telling the children there's a jet underneath the mansion in the first place. For their safety and our sanity - at least, not at first.

[and given how often Charles doesn't go down to the labs, well . . . he isn't sure Charles even knows the pieces are there]
cajunspice: (>B))

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-07-27 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
A wise move, for multiple reasons. [Hopefully it would keep the kids out of whatever was coming after Xavier's, because Remy didn't doubt for a second that Hank's universe was as chaotic and dangerous as his own, especially for the kids at the school. Mutants had targets on their backs, and even more so for a school that held them. Although, it raises an interesting question.] Is the school known for havin' mutants in ya universe? Or is it just a boardin' school as far as the rest of the world knows?
beathach: (179)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-29 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Right now? A closed boarding school. [because mutants were still relatively unknown, and their own experiences had kept them from advertising the school's real purpose. They'd had no idea that it had been a good idea until long after, when they'd learned just how many mutants had died - friends and enemies]

Depending on how things go when we reopen it, though . . . it's up to Charles on how we advertise it this time.
cajunspice: (>))

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-07-30 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I see. [A nod of his head.]

The one back home started as more a place for mutants to stay, most of them headed out to the local high school to study 'til we got outed 'nd the world got wind of us. It changed after that so the younger students got taught by the two oldest ones who had graduated, but the rest had to stick 'round the local high, put on a good face for mutant human relations or some merde like that. [It felt more like just putting them in the firing line than doing anything overly positive, having them face abuse thrown their way without being able to fight back.]
beathach: (33)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-30 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
[that . . . doesn't sound ideal to Hank, either, and he wrinkles his nose a little bit before he faintly shakes his head]

While mutant human relations are a good thing . . . [he pauses, then shakes his head again] There isn't a local high school near us - at least, not that I know of. The students we did have in the beginning - we found them all through Cerebro. And - I suppose I counted as one of the first, in a way. Alex, too, before he got drafted.

But now the world knows about us, too - so who knows what'll happen.
cajunspice: (cross-armed)

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-08-01 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
[There was a slight pause from Remy as he placed the word 'Cerebro',] Ah, the power amplifier thing Xavier has. [Before moving on from that. He had a pretty general idea of the X-Men mansion, had read Magneto's notes and taken his own over his time with the Acolytes.]

From what I understand was a bit of a mix with that 'nd those just findin' the school back home. Not sure how they did considerin' we weren't 'outed' by that point, but guess ya get those reachin' out among their own communities, word of mouth 'nd all that. [People did try and stick to those like themselves, so it didn't surprise Remy mutants would sought out other mutants.]
beathach: (162)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-01 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Charles uses it to amplify his telepathy to find other mutants, mostly. Though he's used it to speak to people, too.

But - mm, word of mouth would certainly get the word out. [the thought that there were enough mutants for that to be efficient, though . . . it amazes him, a little. He knows that there's more out there in his world, but back when they first began looking, there weren't a lot at all. At least, not that Charles could find at the time.

Another reason to reconnect with the world back home, he thinks]

It sounds nice. Ah - hearing that mutants know about the school in your world, I mean.
cajunspice: (:/)

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-08-02 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Remy gave a shrug.] It's the only way I can 'magine it started out, but even then not sure how with the school bein' pretty much just a boardin' school 'til we hit the news.

'nd... yeah, need to stick together, provided we don't tear ourselves apart. [Different views and all that...] Have a feelin' times just goin' to get rougher, if from what I hear from the other universes be half true. Ain't everyone goin' to be happy 'bout us bein' 'bouts, merde, still got issues with race 'nd sex, then ya throw 'nother species or whatever we technically be 'nto the mix.
beathach: (178)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-03 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[ha ha, their worlds. Hank can't help but wrinkle his nose briefly; when it came down to it, as different as their worlds could be, when it came to mutants and how humanity viewed them it didn't differ all that much. Even for them, with the world as a whole just learning about them . . . they still had the government's views in their mind. What happened in Cuba was and always will be a wound]

That's about what I hear, too. I mean - mutants are humans, as much as some people like to argue we aren't. But you still have mutants like me who don't look it, and . . . [he shrugs a shoulder] I could explain it until I'm blue in the face - er, no pun intended - and it wouldn't do much difference.
cajunspice: (:))

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-08-03 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Won't even pretend to understand the science behind it, it way 'bove my understandin'. [Plus he had more than enough talk about science and genetics related to mutants during his time working for Mr. Sinister. Yes, Remy knew not all scientists were like him, but it was tough to shake that general feeling of dread around them, even with Hank. It was always something that would sit just below his skin.]

People don't like differences, ain't changed in thousands of years, just a different reason for it now. [There was a sigh to those words,] Which why I appreciate Xavier's take on it all, but don't see it happenin'. [Before a touch of a smile emerged, able to imagine the look he would had gotten from Rogue with that comment, and the follow up telling off.] Though I know a few who would argue that it still worth tryin'.
beathach: (96)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-04 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Hank understands, more than Remy realizes. The old him would've jumped into the explanation regardless, but Hank now merely nods and shrugs, his expression a bit wry]

It is worth trying. [surprise, Hank is one of those people . . . in a sense. His views mostly fall on Charles' side, but . . . well. He sees the X-Men as a necessity, too] But I know it'll take more than just that, too.
cajunspice: (>))

[personal profile] cajunspice 2016-08-06 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Tell ya what, if I happen to fall 'nto one of those comas that seem to make people get back home for a bit, 'nd they got it all worked out by then, ya'll be the first to know how to do so. 'nd same for ya to do for me. Deal? [A hint of a smirk, meaning it more as a joke but... well, it wasn't a bad deal if it worked.]
beathach: (95)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-06 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Deal. [he's seen it and heard about it happening, and he really doesn't want it to happen to them. It was bad enough in Kyriakos learning about the ten year gap between big events for them, so something similar happening here . . . it was definitely a worry on his mind.

But with things settled for them back home, he figured it was highly unlikely, too. They hadn't even opened the school yet. Little does he know]

Not that I'd hope it happens. I hear it's . . . confusing. [to use a nicer word for it]
