Coming from 70s, the technology here is still a shock. I've done the best I could at catching up but I'm bound to miss a few things.

That's less confusing to me. But I have had some experience traveling into the future and even talking to my future self.

No. It's our preferred term. Though I imagine people would use it in a derogatory manner regardless.

If that's what you prefer. [She doesn't have any investment in a particular word. It doesn't sound euphemistic, like enhanced. Maybe that was part of the appeal.]

Oh, no, it's fine. This is actually my area of study. Before, there wasn't much known about mutants and their set of powers so I documented and studied the phenomenon for many years.

How long have mutants been around? [Both real curiosity about the topic, and curiosity how he'll engaged with his field of study. He should be in his element, so to speak.]

Late in the 20th century. There's a running theory that the onset of nuclear power had some hand in the mutations of others, like conscious stress on the genetic material - a sort of adaptation.

I guess something like that wouldn't be exactly unprecedented. Radiation having that kind of an effect on people.

Exactly. It's possible that the progression of mutant evolution will increase with the continued use of nuclear power, but it's just as likely that the environmental stresses might provide that as well.

Nuclear's going to be a thing of the past before long. [Said wryly, what with Stark in the energy game. When he's in the energy game and not fighting robots.] But I'm sure people will keep coming up with environmental stress.

Possibly. Our universes are very different after all.

Universes are. People are usually about the same, though.

I have noticed, but technological differences remain, I believe.

I didn't say the technology would be the same. I just think that whatever the differences, the stress wouldn't go away.
