There's a lot you don't know about me.

Tell me, do you have a stepbrother named Cain?

[ He blinks. ]

No. Other than Raven, I was an only child.

Hm. In my world, you did. By his own telling, a very violent mountain of a man who liked to pick on his little brother. Then one day, has a complete change of heart. Became so opposed to violence that when his sanctuary and the the people in it were burning to the ground, my prompting him to fight caused a fatal aneurysm. Last word out of his mouth was his brother's name.

I'm . . . sorry to hear that. Honestly, the only family I truly had was Raven.

[ He feels comfortable admitting that now. Claiming Erik as part of it too would probably give Kurt an aneurysm. ]

I only knew Cain as the sanctimonious monk who guided refugees to Avalon. He wasn't an X-Man, we weren't close.

..Mom was the only family I had too, growing up. Man named Creed helped raise me when I was small, but the two of them had a falling out. After that it was just us until I was fourteen. [And Irene for a brief time, but he damn well won't be divulging that secret of his mother's. Even if, based on what Wrath told him, Charles would understand.]

I don't know anyone named Creed.

[ Charles considers telling him what he's heard from Mystique but dismisses it. They've lived different lives. ]

Though I've touched on many mutants through Cerebro, I haven't met that many in person.

Victor Creed, alias Sabertooth. Accelerated healing factor, enhanced sensory perception, and amazingly long-lived. In my world he was a complicated man who struggled to do the right thing, but in most others he was a monster who walked like a man. Also has a human son named Graydon in most worlds who despises mutants. Might want to keep an eye on that one.

[A son that happens to be Kurt's half-brother, but he'll be keeping that to himself until he speaks with Charles' Raven--not that he intends to. He recites all of it off with the air of someone giving an action report.]

That sounds like Logan, actually. Though Logan was far from being monstrous.

[ He could have learned better manners, but Charles wasn't too picky. ]

I don't think everyone on your world will necessary be in mine. We've already seen that it's very different.

Our Logan wasn't either, at first. Prone to violent outbursts, but given the damage done to his brain I couldn't fault him. It took everything Jean had to pull a man out of that wreckage.

[Kurt shrugs, gesturing with an open palm and a matching movement with his tail.]

For which I'm grateful, but given the lengths Graydon went to in another world to destroy us, figured he was worth mentioning. In mine his little group was too occupied with destroying Weapon Omega.

[ Simply. ] I trust Logan.

But I'll keep an eye on those names.

And if he remains entirely himself, you're probably safe to. Both versions I've known were willing to do whatever it took to protect the X-Men and mutant kind. [Including run a secret assassin team whose stated goal was to take out threats to humanity and mutant kind in a more permanent capacity than the X-Men were willing to. Kurt had almost felt at home, fighting with that team in a funhouse mirror of his own world.]

It's when he wasn't entirely himself any more that he became a danger. Doubt you'll have to worry about that.

What do you mean, not himself?

[ The only issues Logan suffered had something to do with the time travel. That much, Charles was sure of. ]

He was a powerful and destructive mutant. Kitty told us a little about him and what he did to your world.

Mm. During the second war, we found out that a great deal of his power was given to him by extraterrestrial life forms that had been using Earth as their personal experiment. It came with it the nearly overwhelming desire to carry out their goal of culling the weak, humanity and weaker mutants, and setting up a society focused on breeding the best of mutant kind to produce better. I've only known one mutant capable of overcoming that compulsion.

After the first war, during the brief peace we had, an unknown ship landed in Manhattan. Logan assembled a team to investigate; the spaceship was obliterated in an explosion, but none of them returned. We discovered later the ship was piloted by the creatures that had given the original Apocalypse his power. They offered Logan the same power, with the threat of destroying the entire planet if he refused. ..Knowing Logan, he probably thought he could control the mental compulsion long enough to make it home.

[ Oh, Logan. He can believe that. ]

His mind is durable. But there is a lot of pain there. I imagine it's the same for all of them.

Not durable enough.

He managed long enough to kill them. After that, well. He whittled us down to three before Jean managed to drive that power out of him.

No one would be. There are some things the mind cannot take.

[And despite the flat tone he's affection and the woodenness of his expression, a hint of pride shows in the smirk crossing his face.]

Telepaths are often the exception. For the most part.

[ There are other vulnerabilities. But Charles won't go into detail. ]

[Kurt knows some of them, at least. A close friend and an ex girlfriend both had psionic powers.]

Whatever soothes your ego. [The smirk softens into something slightly more mischievous.]

[ He smiles despite himself. ]

I wouldn't pit my ego against a mutant I've yet to meet. Though I'd be happy to see anyone who can match me there. I rather not be the only one like myself.

She was one of the most terrifying and powerful women I've ever met that I didn't date. Also, one of the kindest, when the world gave her half the chance to be.

[ Charles knew that, vaguely. He remembers Jean, from what he saw in Logan's mind. Though Logan's mind was enmeshed in pain and heartbreak. ]

She'll have more than that when I find her.
