Who: Beverly Crusher and you
Broadcast: Network - Video
Action: Blue Fish
When: September 1

[There's a strangely familiar cold that has settled in her bones, a dreadful chill that disorients her in the first few moments that she's awake. Her first thought is that something went wrong - very wrong - as they passed through the temporal distortion, but then... as she sits up and takes in her surroundings, the memories all come back in a flood. Atroma has brought Beverly back, a little older, a little blonder, and with a new Starfleet uniform.

Or maybe I never left, she thinks. This is not the Marsiva, these are her quarters aboard the Blue Fish, and none of her things look as if they've been moved. Though admittedly, her memories of Drift Fleet seem distant. By her reckoning, it's been three years since she's seen this room.

Not that "time" really means much, considering what's happened in the past few days.

The communicator rests where she left it on the bedside table. When she picks it up, she finds it's full of unread messages, crewmates and friends wondering where she is, each message sounding more alarmed than the last. With a sinking feeling in her stomach, she checks today's date: September first.]

Damn!

[Immediately, she sends a message to the network, via video:]

This is Dr. Crusher of the... SS Blue Fish. It seems our gracious captors sent me home for a while. I'm back now, and I'm safe, and I'm sorry to everyone who was trying to contact me this month. I'll be on the Blue Fish if you need me.

[There's a pause, as if she's about to say something else, but then she simply gives them a small smile, one that doesn't quite reach her eyes.]

Thank you.

[The feed cuts off and after a moment, she decides to head for the kitchen. Not that she's particularly hungry but - there's a good chance that's where she'll find at least a few of her crewmates.]

No doubt. Even if the three years were quiet ones, I can only imagine it would take time to adjust.

[He gets an amused look.]

Though I must say the hair looks good, if different.

Oh, certainly. I've experimented with some different clothing myself, though here at the Fleet I seem to return to my original outfit more often than not.

[There's a ripple as his regular superhero outfit is replaced with what can only be described as a dad sweater.]

[He smiles a bit, seeing she does appear to like it.]

It's only superficial, but it does communicate a different message about myself. Actual clothing would fall off if I decreased my permeability, I find.

[Vision. Vision you haven't discussed your weird phasing power with Beverly yet.]

[He blinks. Hadn't he--oh, wait, not.]

Er, it's an ability I developed during my own recent trip home. I suppose I forgot to mention it to you?

[To demonstrate, he sets the communicator down to film him, then steps through the nearest wall and back.]

By altering my own relative density, odd as it may sound. I'd actually been doing it before as part of my ability to fly, but this is a different application that comes in handy in a variety of ways.

[Like making Kitty jealous, whoops.]

It works in the opposite direction, as well - primarily a defensive measure to make nearly anything break against my skin rather than penetrating it.

I was told it's rude to do so in company with those who cannot, and the ships often don't have enough room for it.

[Some of his best conversations have been with Kara or Erik or others above the surface of the worlds they've visited, though.]

Though it wasn't a deliberate secret, I assure you. I feel I can trust you.

[He blinks, taken aback. Honestly, he doesn't go around visiting other ships much.]

Er, would you like me to? I was given to understand the Blue Fish preferred not to have visitors.

[Based on the security system, anyway. The Windrose's security is more inclusive than exclusive, and he doesn't know the Blue Fish has had its security disabled for a while thanks to certain threats leaving.]
unbearablynaive: (oh dear)

[He looks a little concerned.]

Are you" I was given to understand you had a rather exclusive security system.

[ALSO HE DOESN'T VISIT PEOPLE MUCH.]

Then I apologize for my misunderstanding. [The Windrose's system is online, but it's designed to let anyone in aside from the Stalker, rather than keeping everyone out unless they have a code.]

Is there anything you'd like me to bring?
unbearablynaive: (convincingly)

I do, in fact. There are some stunning landscapes in this system.

[Because he's still at the point where he thinks landscapes are more provocative than people in them...and because he hasn't spent a whole lot of time exploring with others, truth be told. Although he does have an outing with Wanda in mind....]

I'll be over shortly, then.

[Unfamiliar but not unwelcome. He may be awkward about it but he smiles at her nonetheless.]

I'm glad to see you, Beverly. You look well.

[More stressed out than usual, perhaps, and the hair isn't the only difference, but she doesn't look bad.]

[He inclines his head.]

Better, I believe. There's a sort of resort on one of the moons here that specializes in matters of the spirit, and I've received a great deal of help there. It has a number of spa facilities as well, if that would be something you'd enjoy.

[If her mention of what she's been through is any indication, it might be welcome.]
