[A: Happier Times
Well, Poe's been having a really good month so far, because this system is generally up his alley. He's joined Moxie and he's spending a lot of time flying in races or taking odd courier jobs. Anything that lets him speed and show off. Sure, it's landed him some fines and an evening in jail, but it's all good.

So he's spending his spare time then doing some loving maintenance and polish on the shuttles, with BB-8 always close by.

B: And Then There's This Asshole
But everything changes when a certain Sith shows up in the Fleet. Poe effectively evaporates. Find him hiding out in his room, or generally keeping really close to the Caprine. He's wound tight and very unhappy about things. Torture will do that to a guy.

Hey, maybe ask him to take you somewhere to cheer him up. Or buy him a drink. Buy him three drinks. Maybe that will help.]

[So that sure is a thing that's happening now. Immediately after he sees Ren's message, Finn books it back to the ship and hunts down Poe, looking like he's trying to keep a calm face but betrayed by jerky motions and something in his eyes between fear and anger.]

Did you see?

Yeah. Yeah, I saw.

[He's digging frantically through his stuff, looking for every spare credit chit he's picked up along the way.]

I need a bigger gun.

[Finn purses his lips. A bigger gun won't help. Ren is perfectly capable of stopping blaster bolts with the Force; Poe knows this. Poe was there at the village. It was his gun that Ren had stopped. But if it makes him feel more comfortable? As Security, he doesn't object to having more firepower on the ship. So he nods.]

We better hurry. The Marsiva's moving out of the system fast, so if there's anything else you want we should get it now.

What I want is to get the hell out of here. [He knows it's stupid. He knows it's not going to make a difference. That's what makes this a horror show: nothing he does will do a damn bit of good. It Kylo Ren wants to turn him inside-out again, he'll just do it, and Poe won't be able to stop him.

He feels like he wants to vomit.]

[Well, this sure has been A Month (and that's BEFORE all the stuff erupts with Kylo and the people from Glenwood). But for now, all is good after finding Furiosa, and since it's usually around now when the Marsiva starts to leave, Pinkie and Poe figure now's the perfect time for that double date! Cirrusa here they come!]

[Finding Furiosa has at least made Cheese less on edge. She's safe and okay and that's good. He can relax. Or as much as he can relax in an actual non-party social environment anyway. He'll be trotting after Pinkie, trusting her on this one because yep. She's definitely way better at this than he will ever be. ]

So. You know them well?

Oh of course! They're part of my crew after all, AND Finn's the first human I ever saw! And Poe's from his world and now his special somebody too, AND he's our pilot so he's been wanting to meet you for a while now!

Hey. [So it's not about having a bigger gun. He'd figured as much. Finn catches Poe's shoulders and grips them firmly.] He's stuck on the Marsiva for now, and by the time he gets off we're going to have a plan, okay? You helped me out when Hux showed up, I'll help you out now.

Hux is just a jumped-up sleemo. He's nothing without people to follow his orders. He can't even shoot straight.

[Even after getting shot by Hux, he's not scared of him. Give him a fork and five minutes alone, and he knows he could dismantle General Hux. X-Wing not needed. Kylo Ren is a different matter entirely.]

To you, sure. [He grimaces.] To me he's a symbol of everything the First Order did to me--to all of us. Could I beat him in a fight? Sure. He probably can't even polish his own shoes without help. But would I be able to, if he straight-up ordered me down?

[He'd like to think so, he really would, but a lifetime of habit is so hard to overcome. So hard.]

But Ren? I've fought him before. Ever since I got here and realized there were Jedi would could help me? Poe, that's why I've been training. I've worked my ass of every damn day so I could hold him off in a fight while my friends get away. He won't hurt you any more, Poe. Not while I'm around.

What, I'm supposed to run scared and just leave you? That ain't an option, Finn. Come on. [Please don't make him do this. He would really rather run, and he's ashamed of it.]

If we ever get in that situation? Of course I need you to get out of there first. And then come back with reinforcements. Maybe I can't beat him, but h can't beat a real Jedi.

[And here are the humans in question. Poe's wearing his bright orange jumpsuit, because of course he is.]

Hey, Pinkie!

No. Not gonna happen. You wouldn't leave me!

[Finn, meanwhile, is in his usual jacket. He looks a bit nervous, but smiles nonetheless. He's still not really sure about this whole "dating" thing.]

Hey, Pinkie! Cheese. So where are we going?

[He looks confused for a moment.]

No, of course not.

[WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH POE LEAVING.]

[Taking a break from being afraid for a moment of exasperation.] Well, what kind of worthless friend--what kind of worthless boyfriend would I be if I ran off and left you to face Kylo Ren on your own?

[...Oh.]

I'd say the kind that gets himself out of danger. But that's not what you mean, is it?

[He exhales and reaches over to grab Poe in a hug.]

Look, I'm sorry. That's not how I meant it.

[He'll take that hug. He sure needs one.]

I don't want anyone near him. We should just space him the moment he's off the Marsiva.

[Good, then he won't let go.]

If he shows his ugly face on the Caprine, I'm gonna do exactly that.

Yeah. I don't want him anywhere near Pinkie or Daenerys.

[But what about not on the Caprine?]

I don't want him near anyone except someone who can handle him. Like Obi-Wan or Anakin. Or--there's probably other people here, too. But General Kenobi's got the control, and Anakin has the power.

[In other words, call them when Finn gets in over his head.]

Then I hope they space him.

[Finn coses his eyes and imagines that for a sweet minute.]

Yeah. But we ought to make a plan for if they don't.
