this is a little preview to the lecture I'm giving at the Iskaulit soon: The Amazing, Awesome, Absolutely Terrifying Physics of the Multiverse -

So the multiverse, which used to be a theory that is clearly being verified with each passing second is the force that connects an infinite number of alternate universes. Back home, we called ourselves Earth-1 but since we're not dealing with earths anymore, you can just call your home Universe-1.

Now, theoretically, there is an endless number of universes alternate to yours! they all have a version of you. For instance, I met my Earth-2 self which was a traumatic experience since he had the worst hair do since John Travolta did Grease.

[ and he was a psychopath but nevermind those details ]

This here is not an alternate universe, it's a pocket dimension since we have people here from various universes. Usuallym we have only one version of a person at a time BUT, if there ever was another version of YOU, then, you're in the same lifeboat as I am. You have met your Universe-2 self. Hope it was a good time. I'd love to meet the version of me who runs a highly successful company and can afford endless videos games but, I'm getting distracted.

Thing is, time in YOUR world didn't stop, which means that the YOU here is now an alternate version of the YOU at home. If you two ever meet, the one at home would be Universe-1 and you would be Universe-2. Talk about confusion, right?

it also means that if we ever find out how the Atroma is doing alla this that we can go full on Sliders. If you wouldn't want to go back to your world, you could go somewhere else since there is a YOU back home carrying on with the life you have left when you got here.

basically, it means that in theory, we might be able to visit each other's universes and times and if you have a cute girlfriend here you won't literally have to be star-crossed lovers.

Me, I'm less stuck on the 'you jump through the wormhole, I jump, Jack' and I'm more keen on discovering the sham that must be National City's pizza.

There have been a few alternates here at the same time. The pasts were the same, up to a turning point.

I've met another me. We were the only two mutants in the prison for a long time. Heard about several other versions of me. Probably up to...six universes? Seven if you count the one where I'm just a character in a comic book.

Yeah, I mean, if I had the resources, I'd have a course about pop culture: the basic 101 but there is a tragic lack of movies and songs around here.

one decision can change the timeline and create a parallel universe, after all.

really makes you think about the what-ifs.

Some of the alternates share pasts, some even act alike but others are like

only identical in looks. there doesn't seem to be any consistency with those things.

my thought is that they can create the multiverse + timelines so that they send us back to the second before our alternate selves were created.

aka our alternate selves disappear off the face off the timeline and we take their place.

it's different with speedster moving around the multiverse. your world isn't a pocket dimension.

I mean, it's the time that's really a problem. supposing our worlds carry on with a version of us, the atroma have to be careful about the exact second they send us back to or there'll be one hell of a paradox.

If we're never actually sent back, it would explain why we come back a second time without memories of being here the first time around.

Just make a new copy instead of making a shuffle with the original.

At least most of what's there is still Earth-centric. There's only one thing in there from my home, and I didn't even like it when it came out.

Of course, now that it's the only thing I have here, I've watched it approximately twenty times.

well when you think about it

say they take you from a certain point in your timeline, let's call it point 1

they bring you here, you go through whatever it is you go through and sent back to point 1.

next time, they being you from point 2. you have no memories but you're different since you've been through stuff at your original world, right?

by manipulating time and space, they can make sure you'll never remember anything about this place and that your original timeline + world is kept whole.

if they start making copies and mess things up, it can create a timeline paradox and those are trouble for everyone.

even the atroma.

time is a very fragile thing. if they break it, it'll boomerang back to them, too.

Names were the same. [Which is kind of impressive considering Kitty is a nickname. How hard would it be for someone to go by Katherine or Kat or Kate or Katie?] All but one had my powers. And except for the one without powers they were all X-Men. I win the award for most doomed timeline though.
