Iskaulit Mingle - Problems with Psychics

When: Today, as Sora's augment glitch starts.

[It's your average day on the Iskaulit. Absolutely nothing seems out of place initially, but without any warning- you might find yourself or your friends experiencing some problems. What's up on that?

In other words, it's an Iskaulit mingle with a twist! Come on in everyone! You don't need to interact with Sora to have it effect you, so feel free to start your own threadstarter! Or talk to Sora, that's cool too. ]

"I haven't been that child for a long time," he pointed out firmly.

He wondered if this was how every Force user from Palpatine to Obi-Wan. It seemed so chaotic and he understood what she meant when she referred to it as a storm.

He was distracted so he didn't see her coming, unable to stop her from pinning her to the floor. He scowled, focusing entirely on her. Moving a pillow was one thing but moving a person was another. He slowly tried to pry her away with the Force the best he could, frowning.

"I will do what's necessary."

"The child was better than you will ever be." Rey put her memories of little Armitage out of her mind. General Hux was someone completely different and he now carried a dangerous weapon.

She could feel the Force plucking at her body, likely leaving bruises behind, but he would have to do better than that to get her to move. Rey was slender and muscular. Though she did not look it, she could weigh someone like Hux down.

"Why would that be necessary?! Why would hurting anyone be necessary?!"

"I don't have the luxuries that child did." Even living in a military academy, little Armitage had lived in a protected world.

He focused as much as he could to get her off, surprised at how much she weighed.

"You know my position here," he said, focusing the Force as much as he could. It was clumsy, at best, but he felt like he was wielding a weapon too heavy to get a proper hold on. "I will do what I must, if I have to."

"Because of the path you have chosen." or the path that was chosen for him initially, "I don't understand why you think you have the right to destroy anything. Only pain can come from doing something like that; not order."

She refused to budge lest he go back to working on...lightning fingers. She didn't even know how Siths did that, but it wasn't good and she imagined it was highly destructive.

"No one is opposing you. Well... Not constantly." she amended, "You're being given a chance too. Why waste it repeating the same mistakes?"

"I had every right to destroy the Republic. They thought they had the right to destroy the Empire which had been a legitimate government elected by the Senate and countless star systems," he snarled again, exerting every bit of strength he had.

Lightning fingers would have really come in useful.

"I am who I am. You know that cannot change and will not for anyone here."

"A legitimate government built by and led by a Sith." Rey grabbed one of his hands and held it tight, "I don't trust you with my power." because of his answers; because of the person he had become, "If you do lasting damage with them, I will never forgive you."

She had no part in giving him her powers, but she felt responsible anyway.

"Give me your word you will not harm anyone and I will get off of you."

"Sith and Jedi are only titles. Jedi caused the collapse of the Old Republic," he pointed out.

He glared up at her but he knew that she wouldn't let him up until she got her way. He could feel the power following through him but he would need time to learn to channel it. "Fine. You have my word I will not harm anyone."

"The Dark side isn't just a title." and since the Sith adhered to it, that made them nothing but chaotic and power hungry, "Do you think you would live for a second if you were no use to Emperor Palpatine? He didn't care about anyone but himself and hoarding his power."

While she certainly wasn't appeased or convinced, Rey huffed and got up, moving off of him.

"Thank you."

"All you know about the Empire is second-hand Republic and Rebel propaganda. Your friends never lived during the Imperial era," he pointed out as he sat up. Of course, he had been lying, he never saw any problem with saying what he had to in the moment to survive.

"And the Emperor expected the best out of everyone who served even during the Clone Wars. No military would be effective if incompetence and treason were tolerated," he said, trying to focus on the power running through him.

"I know the Force, Hux. I've felt it and now you have too. Now imagine channeling that power with anger, hate and bitterness. Do you think it would be controlled? No, it would be wild. Untamed. It would drive you mad." Rey watched him intently, "You're better off exercising calm. That way you control it; it doesn't control you."

His reasoning was frustrating and she threw a pillow at his head in protest.

"Are you an expert in the Dark Side then?" he snapped. Thankfully this time he was facing her when she suddenly threw the pillow at him.

Instinctively he raised a hand, catching the pillow in mid-air to cause it to hover there for a moment.

He flicked his wrist in order to send the pillow right back towards her face as hard as he could. He was starting to get the hang of this.

"I know the difference between the Light and the Dark." mainly from what she felt and on instinct - oh and from stories. Rey opened her mouth to say more and nearly swallowed part of the pillow. The impact took her breath away and she frowned as the pillow dropped to the floor.

"I think you've learned enough."

"How are you so certain?" He honestly doubted Ren was an actual Sith Lord- at least definitely not on the level of Sith Lords like Dooku, Palpatine, or Vader.

"Really? I believe I'm getting used to this." Several other pillows began floating up into the air around him and he smirked, pleased with himself as he slowly got up. Granted, pillows weren't exactly imposing but everyone had to start somewhere.

"Close your eyes. Reach out with the Force. You will see Light and Dark. You will see the divide clearly." Rey didn't think Ren was a Sith either. He was...somehow caught in-between. So very torn and chaotic.

"That's good." her expression said otherwise, "Just don't go overboard. No one needs that."

He closed his eyes, taking a moment to try what she said. He felt the Dark and it felt strong, powerful, and- well, tempting. There was so much raw power there which called to him.

He could understand now how tempting it was to tap into that energy. He wasn't sure even he could resist. He wasn't sure he wanted to. "Tell me why the Dark is bad again."

"You can't control it." Rey figured that would be the point that resonated most with someone like Hux, "It may not overwhelm you for years, but it will eat away at you. You will lose yourself, Hux, and I think that would be a shame, don't you?"

Nothing else would matter but power and more of it.

He was quiet for a moment as he pictured the day Starkiller had fired. Looking up at the red beam it had been bigger than just him. He had constructed the weapon, helped design it, but in the end, its power was more than his own.

And what that left of him, he wasn't sure. He wasn't sure if there was anything left after nearly 30 years of devoting himself to his duty. Taking Palpatine's throne had always been his ambition but he also was realistic in knowing that it was likely that this would take his life. The Dark side of the Force may consume him but he could use it in the meanwhile.

"Perhaps."

"That's all you have to say?" Rey's disapproval was fierce and unsubtle. She crossed her arms over her chest and continued: "Believe me, you would regret it. And don't think you are doing some good for everyone. The Darkness is never good."

It always, always bit back and consumed until there was nothing left of the one who summoned it.

"Yet the Dark Side and I are the same in many ways," he said thoughtfully as he started to mentally reach out, just a little to feel the power hum through his entire being. He wondered how long Anakin Skywalker had felt the temptation, how long Kylo Ren had managed to resist.

Perhaps that was why the Dark Side called to him so strongly, it was already in him. He had just never felt it before.

"Not all of you." she spoke quietly, stiffly, "Why would you help me, then?"

Oh they had exchanged ideas about ships and the like, but Hux had never been anything but open and polite. Then there was Armitage...

Rey found it difficult to forget him.

"No one is born similar to the Dark Side." it was a choice.

He had no answer to her question. In truth, it had been something different to have someone to sit down to discuss such things with. He had never had that before, almost everyone in the First Order or in the old Imperial regime was a potential if not an outright enemy.

He smirked at her last statement, opening his eyes. "You would say that about Palpatine or one of the other great Sith Lords?"

"It would be hard, but...yes, I would. They chose to follow that Darkness. Children are born innocent." Rey pressed her lips together tightly, stubbornly, "Babies should never be blamed for the futures their adult selves choose."

She was one of the people who would protect a child to-be Sith and hope for a better future for them. Yes, she was that sort of fool.

"You don't think there is something in our nature to make us decide to take that path? Palpatine was no doubt capable even as a child of making that choice." Hux had no regrets about the choice he had made when he was young.

Perhaps it may not have been much of a choice but he had decided to be ambitious and to serve the tradition of the Empire beyond what his father had commanded. "There has to be something in his nature and in mind that makes the Dark Side resonate through us."
