You can check out anytime you'd like.. [Hotel Corona Mingle]

Who: The Fleet!
Broadcast: If you want
Action: Hotel Corona or Planet Ikke
When: December 7th onward

a wheel-shaped space station

[After the mystery and isolation of their last destination, the Marsiva seems determined to head to brighter, busier territory. After a long journey through remote, nebula-painted space, speeding along at a brisk pace for the Host ship, the Marsiva brings her Fleet to a sudden and prominent point of traffic.

It seems that the Fleet has happened upon some sort of vacation destination! Maybe Atroma thinks that the passengers deserve some rest and relaxation... or just wants to distract them with something huge and shiny.

Welcome to Hotel Corona! Feel free to enjoy yourselves and enjoy the sites! If a hotel resort isn't your thing, you can head on over to the nearby planet and explore it's icy wonders.

In order words: it's a mingle!! Everyone get in! ]

[ He chuckles. ]

I can play every instrument there ever was.

[ Maglor lights up in interest ]

Truly? You are talented sir! It has been long and long since I have been able to speak to one so accomplished. And what of tbe instruments here?

I recognize most of them.

[ Leto reaches for the violin. His eyelashes flutter as the melody flows through him, old memories, old strings and older lifetimes come to life in his hands. ]

[ Joy, burns bright through Maglor's eyes and his voice joins the violin's, twining around it ]

[ He lets the melodies change and shift as he weaves through the memories, but the melacholia comes rushing back and he stops abruptly. ]

[ Maglor follows the shifts and changes in the music, a challenge and a game remembered from young adulthood, where he had cousins who could match him (or, at least, keep up if he didn't push too hard). When Leto stops he almost starts, caught in the music as he is, and he blinks a bit before asking ]

Is something wrong, sir?

[ Leto frowns before shaking his head. ]

I pulled myself out of the memory. It happens sometimes.

[ Twice in a day though. He must be more emotional than he thought. ]

Did it bring grief back? I am sorry, if so. Music moves emotions deeply, however, and I find it sometimes takes us to places where it knows we need, but do not necessarily wish to tread.

Not quite.

[ He pauses, trying to find the best way to explain it. ]

I draw on the memories of my ancestors - to use their skills. That is how I am accomplished in every instrument. I have a sea of memories to drawn upon.
bythewaves: (hm?)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-12-13 09:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! That explains why you know so many instruments - that is an impressive gift, if, I imagine, a sometimes confusing one. Was that memory a grievious one?

Some are. Some are not. Such is the way of any memory one might have.

[ He plucks the strings nonchalantly. ]

No, the grief was with me. And as such, it is harder to sink into the roots of my ancestor's thoughts.

[ And dangerous. But no one needs to know that. ]
bythewaves: (regard)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-12-13 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
That is so. And I am sorry that it raised such grief in you, in that case.
precedented: (I desire no results)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-12-13 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ His lips twitch, bemused. ]

That is never the fault of the music.
bythewaves: (regret)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-12-13 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
No. But if not for the way the songs flowed, perhaps that memory might not have woken - and that is as much my fault, as your ancestor's skill.
precedented: (That brings total obliteration)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-12-13 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ He laughs. ]

Be not so quick to take on the faults of my ancestors! As it is, we pay for the sins continually without pointing the finger.

No. It would have come. It is a quiet melancholia that follows us from time to time.
bythewaves: (hm?)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-12-13 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
[ Maglor blinks and then smiles ]

I suppose I never thought of it that way. If music brought the melancholia, might it soothe it, also?
