Glitch time! Angel man ain't so angelic

[Luckily for the fleet, Arthur's decided to broadcast near the beginning of his evening, meaning he's still on his first glass and reasonably sober.]

Would anyone be up for a bit of a trip down to the ring tomorrow? I've been hearing some nice things about the area and it might be nice to get outside for a day or two. Especially after how artificial everything was at the last place. And it's always better with company.

[Takes another sip and sneezes, shaking his head. As he does... well, his control of his powers slips and a pair of wings pops out of his back, halo glowing over his head, and typical clothes swapped in a second to a matching white tunic. He doesn't notice until he picks up his glass for another sip and sees the reflection.]

...bugger.

[Tosses back the rest of the glass and ends the broadcast. Going to need another one.]

[He'd just been browsing around when he saw this broadcast and, well, that was weird.]

...Is that supposed to happen to you?

[Looks annoyed, trying to find a way to comfortably fold the wings.]

[Well. This is different. Crowley glances up from the bar, and an eyebrow steadily rises above his shades. ]

So. You going to bring out a harp next?

[He's being sarcastic. Angels don't play harps. ]

[ Oh, good, another Brit - with, apparently, magical powers. ]

... Are your... Wings okay?

[Arthur isn't precisely very angelic either. Gives him a look.]

Do I look like a bloke who'd play a harp?

[Blinks, glancing back at them.]

These? They're fine. Not actually sure if they can be hurt, actually...

Silly things should hopefully go away soon.

I suppose there's some sort of explanation?

[ But you don't go around asking strange men about their wings, right? ]

It's not a very satisfying explanation, I'm afraid. But if you're curious, they just started showing up as a manifestation of my magic. Around the time the church was founded, I believe. Was quite the bother back then.

Arthur. Pleasure to meet you.

Oh, I see. Well, at least there's some explanation, even if magic does leave something to be desired. If only there were some books here that could help. [ Sadly, Hogwarts is long behind her. ] It's nice to meet you too. They'll just.. Go away, then?

They should. I usually have better control than to let them out like this. It's a little embarrassing, actually.

[Huffs, feathers ruffling.]

Not sure if you'd find much written down about it, however.

You'd be surprised what you can find lying around in a school of magic.

[ She was surprised, a little, but then she just... Started reading and didn't stop. ]

I suppose it's fine as long as they're not painful.

A school just for magic? Well, fancy that. I'd love to see a place like that. Mostly self-taught, myself.

I take it that you practice, then?

That's right. It was called Hogwarts and I studied there for six years.

[ But she... Missed graduation. No need to mention that. ]

I do, constantly. I use magic for almost everything and I make potions for the fleet, too.

[Would say that's a silly name, but has a best friend named Flying Mint Bunny, so...

Also? You're so never getting rid of him now.]

That's amazing. Most people I know don't even believe in it anymore, much less can do it. Back on Earth, that is.

Oh, that's... Awful, actually. In my world magical and non-magical people are separated, but it's still something people believe in, at least a little. I only found out it was real when I turned eleven.

Everyone gets so wrapped up in being modern they forget. I've even known some who used to be able to see spirits and the like that can't anymore. Poor things.

At least I can keep an eye on the ones in England. Though they wreck havoc in my garden when they get upset.

I suppose it's easy to forget that magic is exist when it's hidden away, or you can't do or see it yourself.

[ Spirits, though... Something like Ghosts, maybe? Perhaps. ]

I'm afraid I don't really have that problem.

Out of sight, out of mind at its fullest. Suppose it protects some types, even if it gets me called a nutter on a somewhat regular basis. Two hundred years old, and the git refuses to believe in fairies. Ha.

[If only. Puts those on the tour.]

That's probably for the best, actually. The folk tend to at least somewhat behave for me, but I'm not sure if they would for other people. The ones my brother tends certainly don't.

It happens the same for people in my world, too. Magical folk are sometimes... Distant from those without magic, so all the new technology is a little bit bizarre to them. It means that people who aren't used to non-magical things end up looking a little odd to say the least. It helps that I've a foot in both worlds.

[ But, you know, the Arthur Weasleys of the world are nicer than the Malfoys. ]

I'd imagine they stay close to the people they like, right?

Heh, sometimes I wish I could just leave the technology behind too. But I think my secretary would chase me down and glue my cell phone to my hand if I tried.

[Would probably very much agree if he knew them. Malfoy sounds like a French name anyway.]

At least to the ones they know the best, but I like to think that they like me.

If it makes you feel better, it's all a little much for me. I spent three years in a world with barely any, so being on the fleet is still a bit of a shock.

[ She considers, for a moment, before she smiles. ]

I can't see any reason why they wouldn't.

I imagine so! I'm used to the normal sorts, phones, computers, telephones, but space ships that just zip around space like you'd take a bus downtown? That's far out of my realm of familiarity.

[Pinks a bit, but can't help but smile back at the praise.]

Well I'm a bit of a loner at home, but they have been around since I was a tot.

It was for me, too, but you get used to it. I love my lab, now, and the shuttles make life so much easier.

[ Compliments where they're due, she thinks. ]

Then they must really like you.

No, I meant the havin' wings part ain't weird? Thought humans weren't supposed to... [He vaguely gestures at the new appendages] ...yanno.
