I can, though I can't "talk" very well with them. We can understand each other.

I used to live all by myself out in the swamps, with no one but the animals to talk to. Sometimes I'd sing to them too and always wondered if they could understand me, at least a little.

I'm sure they can. You'd be surprised.

That's good... only I hope they don't miss me too much. I miss them, sometimes.

Animals have better memories than we give them credit for. They might miss you, but they won't forget you.

Well, it's not like there's anyone to tell them why I"m gone or why I'm not coming back. SO maybe it'd be better if they didn't remember.

There's still stuff I wish I didn't remember.

And there will always be things like that. But remembering gives weight to who we are and what we choose to do. How we move forward.
