[There are some things a person comes to expect in their life. Of course, magical curses that turn you and your colleagues into inanimate objects tends to move those goalposts a little, but you still expect certain things to remain the way they are.

For instance, if you live in an 18th century castle in the middle of France, you honestly don't expect to be suddenly not in that castle. And you absolutely do not expect to be suddenly in space. You sure don't expect to somehow understand, at least vaguely what space is. These are things Lumiére did not expect to happen to him today, and yet here they are, happening.

But then again, the Flooters probably don't expect to see a sentient candelabra shuffling in front of their screens as he presses his little candle hands to the window, staring out in the blank nothingness. Lumiére has no idea how he got here, he has no idea WHY he's here, but there's one thing he knows for absolute certainty-

Cogsworth is going to KILL him. ]

Zut alors! What is this place?

[He really, genuinely doesn't have time for this. Usually he's a big fan of all kinds of tomfoolery, but he's kind of on a really tight schedule right now and it's really, really not one he can shirk. He needs to get out of...whatever this is and get back. Like. Now. He turns, looking around him in the vast room, hoping for a sign of life.]

Yeah, but just not where you are.

[Says the disembodied voice from his communicator.]

You're on the Marsiva, right?

[Lumiére glances around, trying to locate where the voice is coming from. Eventually, he hobbles over to the communicator, staring at it. ]

Honestly, monsieur, I don't know. I've never been here before in my life, I think I'd remember a place like this.

[He looks over at the communicator again. Um. ]

If you don't mind me asking, how did you come to be like this?

[Look, when 99% of the people you know got turned into inanimate objects, if you find a talking anything, you're just going to assume that's what happened here. Did you get cursed too, buddy? ]

Yeah, it's weird as hell. I went from bein' at the Citadel to now I'm wanderin' around underwater.

[Which is SO bad for him, but it's the only place where he can fight things.]

No one really knows how we get here. Something about some god thing called the Atroma? It pulls us in from wherever and whenever it wants and shoves us onto these ships. You'll get assigned one later probably.

[Because he 100% misunderstood that question, but he also doesn't think it's weird at all that a candlestick is talking to him. The joys of being a spirit.]

[ he's high. that has to be it, right? he must be high. instead of fantasizing about going into the superbrew supply and drink the drama away, he actually did it and this is what he got for his efforts.

don't get him wrong, he's used to seeing 6 impossible things before breakfast, and that's not even limited to the fleet anymore, but this? this is definitely some kind of record.

[There's sure no citadels anywhere near the castle. He'd remember.

That honestly sounds pretty far fetched, but given his current situation, he can't really call it as such. Stranger things can happen. He's living proof of that. ]

That sounds fantastical, mon ami- but here I am. And this certainly isn't where I cam from.

...The Atroma is what turned you into a...um. Whatever you are?

[Winn is absolutely high. Yep. That's what's happening. Lumiére heads over to the communicator, smiling down at the image on the screen. Oh, so it is like the mirror, then! Now it makes sense.

He wants to ask what a spaceship is, but the knowledge just settles into his mind with cold, solid logic. That's creepy enough for him to just casually bury for now. He'll wonder about that later. Instead, he gives a soft laugh. See, he'll even humour you. ]

It's lacking some sails, no? Would perhaps a sea shanty help move things along for it?

[Followed by another, super important question.]

Don't you worry about your head melting?

[He'll flash the camera the most charming smile. ]

I do so much more than talk monsieur. That is just one of my many talents.

[ everything makes sense now. ]

Well, if you got one up your uh, [ is it rude to say sleeve? what's he supposed to call it? ] candlestick you can always try and see how it goes.

[Rude. He is so dashing. SO. Dashing.]

You know, when I first changed, a little! But it hasn't melted yet, mademoiselle, so I think I'm safe.

Huh. [It's a curious sounding 'huh.' Good for him for taking her in stride.]

[Candlestick works, but Lumiére would still absolutely call it a sleeve. ]

[He considers this for a moment before huming a little tune to himself. It's a little too...Frenchy to be a real sea shanty, but he's trying. ]

Qui! They've remained the same, too. I'm lucky there, at least, no?

[ he's high. he really...he must be high.

he just blinks at the singing candelabra wondering what the hell kind of trip he's having and how it even started. is he "glitching"? has he lost it? what is his life? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?! ]

I have no idea...[ in half a whisper. ]

[Had this been a very different Lumiére, he would be flipping out right now. Alas, he is not, but hey it's a pretty girl so she gets a dashing smile. ]

Hermione! What an exquisitely unusual name, mademoiselle! I'm Lumiére.

[Because his name is totally normal. Yeah. ]

How do I move? Does someone come to get me? Where do you move to from...space?

[Space. He's in space. That's a thing. ]

[ A part of her can't believe this is actually happening to her right now. ]

[ Which is. Fine. A candle called Lumiére. Admittedly, she has seen stranger things. ]

It happens without us having much control of it, I'm afraid. Once it's time the Atroma just move you and you wake up on your new ship. That's how it works.

[The video feed shows a girl with fox ears, with a sword hilt peeking up over her shoulder. She's also trying her best to keep a straight face here, but it's not working very well.]

... Good day, sir. Have you been told of the situation already?

[is 'sir' right? can a candle be a 'sir'? why is this her life now?]

[He's incredibly happy at being called a sir. She can absolutely call him a sir. He gives her a winning grin. ]

I have indeed, mademoiselle! But I'd never say no to more delightful conversation with a lovely young lady.

[Everything is upside down, he's having an episode. A talking coyote will show up next and tell him to go on a spirit quest.]

Ah, well, it was worth a try.

So, how do the ships fare on the water? They look very heavy. Don't they just sink?
