So I know I'm not the only one here who can boast both some experience and frustration with alternate worlds, dimensions, timelines, so on and futzing so forth. [ kate hits the network like she hits the ground: running. no hello, no hi, no how-do-you-do. ]

But, uh, I figured it might be good to gather some intel from people outside my little social circle. Personally, I've counted no fewer than six different versions of home. Including mine, but not including any other generally Earth-based worlds. I'm talking we had mutual acquaintances in common, but details were...different. Shout out to anyone who can identify me a seventh. It's like Pokemon at this point: gotta learn'em all.

What about the rest of you? Are other worlds a thing where you're from? A fact of life? Or are they pretty much the stuff of sci-fi -- culty, but soon to be a blockbuster reboot on a big screen near you?

[ -- and with that, she kicks back and waits to discuss the existential can-o-worms she just opened. part of it is almost masochistic, because she knows how little she doesn't want to learn about yet another world where the avengers exist, but she doesn't.

to take her mind off things, kate heads for her shift at málum over on the iskaulit. but something's...off, tonight. usually a paragon of coordination and balance, she's been breaking a lot of glasses tonight. futz, that's gonna come out of her pay. it puts her in a foul mood, so patrons can expect a bit of petulant surliness with their drinks. ]

Different worlds, huh? I guess you could say there's different places in the world, but I dunno if they'd be different worlds, really...

[ He makes a soft noise, considering. ]

I've only learned about one version of my world and that's my own.

I'm gonna go out on a limb, then, and assume you're not an earthling. [ there are too many versions of earth represented in the fleet for his to be singular. ] Where are you from?

I dunno, we called our place 'Earth'... [ He's still thoughtful. ] Most people call it 'Glenwood'.

See, my planet's called Earth. Does that make mine an alternate version of yours? [ who knows. ] These questions aren't ever easy, I guess.

That depends. Does your planet have Seraphs?

I once read a file on a very interesting woman named Seraph, but I'm guessing that's not what you're talking about.

Hmm... [ He's entertained by the idea. ] We're a whole race of people, so...

Maybe we need to start with something more...general. Tell me about Glenwood. Is it a city? A country? A continent?

It's a continent, split into Hyland and Rolance. There are loads of towns and villages around too, but they're the big ones.

Definitely a different Earth, then. [ but she doesn't sound too put out by that. ] Tell me about where you're from? Like, are you from one of the big ones?

That depends on what you mean by 'big one'. [ He makes a sound that's definitely him stretching. ] I'm not really from anywhere.

I'm gonna assume 'Pokemon' is a universe, too, actually.

[HAAAA.]

I've been to alternate dimensions back home, or stuck in weird time loops.
Or I've traveled back in time. Never got a chance to double-check if there are other civilizations out in space in my universe, but I'm betting there are.

We got other worlds at home!

I fought aliens all the time. I dunno where their planets are, but I guess they just really like Earth... I dunno.

Different planets isn't quite the same as different worlds -- I mean, not how I meant it. Though I understand the confusion. [ even so! ] Not that I'm surprise by aliens, either. Aliens are just a fact of life at this point.

I'd second that bet. [ -- she's personally met far too many aliens not to. ] You know, time loops aren't unheard of back home, but I'm so glad I've never been stuck in one. Time travel notwithstanding.

Okay. You gotta explain that.

Not even close to being a thing for me, but I think you already knew that.

[ Here he goes... ]

[ but she remembers the dance -- dude, you got your own issues with alterna-things. ]

Think it's possible they might exist, back home, but you just don't know about them yet?

Uh. That's a hell of a conception story, dude.

Khoros, Earth, Galvan Prime and Galvan B, Anur Transyl, Kinet...many of the worlds in the galaxy are populated. Listing them all would take more time than I care to waste.

[The four-armed princess has likely misunderstood the question, but that doesn't stop her from answering anyway.]

But I too am familiar with multiple versions of your world- if you have not heard of the human called Ben Tennyson, then you have found your seventh. But I had not heard of such a thing until recently. The first time I dealt with circumstances similar to this one.

[Or the second, depending on which aspect of their current scenario one chose to focus on.]

[ Kara doesn't even have time to make eye contact with Kate before Kate accidentally knocks something off the bar. Luckily, Kara is powered up and speeds over to do a super catch before it breaks ]

Whoa there, careful.

[Shiro has an answer for her, but he thinks it's silly to use the communicator when they're in the same ship. And he wants to get to know his new crew members better! So he seeks her out, only to find her in the kitchen... mopping protein gel. Ouch.]

Kate? [He comes in with a sympathetic look on his face, this time wearing more casual clothes than the armor he was wearing the first day, which means his metal arm is showing.] I could tell you about an alien that can calculate all possible realities, but that can wait. Need a hand?

[Another glass almost crashes to the floor when there's a blur and it gets caught at the last second as Mon-El is suddenly there smiling up at her with the glass in hand. The remainder of the drink is even still in tact.] I think you dropped something.

I haven't heard of him, no. But I don't think that automatically makes it a version of mine. The six I've been counting have some pretty distinct details in common.
