[Arthur's been keeping himself dry and out of the water on his ship for most of the month, with the fact that they were probably going to be leaving the system shortly, he wanted to at least try to see a bit of the watery planet. At least he knew he couldn't drown this time!

Getting around gracefully, however... wasn't going to happen.

He was very aware of the snickerings of a few of the ruder locals as he floundered about, holding onto whatever he could. It was embarrassing, but at this point the Brit was just too proud to give up and go back until he'd at least spent long enough to make the trip worth it. And maybe pick up a souvenir. Just to prove he went out there.]

{Fingon overhears certain comments on the currents as he swims slowly along. A lost crewman, floundering about. And he recalls hearing one of his own crew has trouble with water.

The Elf adjusts his direction with ease and swims to go searching for the wayward crewmate, and smiles cheerfully as he propels himself to Arthur.}

Arthur! Are you well?

[Trouble with water. That was one way of putting it. And seeing Fingon just glide through the water so easily was just rubbing it in. He held onto one of the strange tendrils dangling from a nearby building to turn around and face him.]

Well? I'm not sure I'd put it that way, no.

{At least it's not ice? Then Fingon would have a problem with it. The Elf slows when he's close, letting himself float a bit but keeps to a generally still state, for being underwater.}

Would you like company? {Because he can tell offering to help would possibly insult this person, and as someone who has been kind to him in the past he wants to avoid it if he can.}

I'm not of the Teleri, but I know my way around water.

[True, ice would make things even more difficult and uncomfortable for all around. Even if it'd probably stop the snickering.

Arthur considered the offer. Company would mean Fingon would see how clumsy he was being, but... could also be useful. He nodded his head.]

Yes, please. I'm trying not to regret leaving the ship altogether.

{If it were ice, Fingon wouldn't be off the ship without a great deal of coaxing.

It's enough that the water is warmer as he moves, rather than staying in place.}

It isn't so bad {a promise full of hope.} You just need to keep moving. And it's quite beautiful! {He offers a hand with another smile.}

[He reached out to take his hand, gripping it tightly.]

{The Elf's smile is gentle instead of mocking, and he tugs to get them moving with the current, though not too fast.}

You have simply not been taught, I expect. I learned at the heel of the Vala of the Waters, and his chief Maiar.

Believe me, people have tried. Many times. Usually by throwing me headfirst into the water. Take it from me, drowning is unpleasant at best.

[May have just a bit of personal experience with that. That he doesn't care to repeat.]

He swims along, keeping hold of Arthur.} If you believe yourself unteachable and do not wish to continue attempting to learn, I will not push.

By this point, I think I'm too old to learn anyway.

I'm not really sure. Perhaps one of the more open areas? I've stayed away from them because there was nothing to hold onto.

All over! {England's just jealous! Fingon doesn't mind his hair getting everywhere, it's not slowed him down yet!}

[Extremely! And he's going to sulk about it too, as soon as Fingon lets him get his breath again! Arthur tried to swim with him, just so he wasn't just pulled along.]
