Of course, while doing this they're sharing the popular "rumors" about them out loud, for their own amusement. Or bemusement, either or]

Let’s see . . . 'Aliens stole Charles' hair.' I can’t say that’s wrong.

In a manner of speaking, sure.

What else . . . 'Hank is a beast in bed'. Hank, you sly devil.

—No comment.

Hmm. 'Hank and Charles are the perfect couple'. I think our students got a hold of this one.

Huh. I just read one lamenting our divorce.

Hold on, what’s this?

[ Charles pulls out a business card ]

Well now . . . I guess I’ll be keeping this.

[Hank's response is to burst into laughter. What a helper]

I couldn't imagine saying it to any of my teachers, either. A good number of our students have been with us since the school opened, though, so they've seen how Charles and I bicker. [a wry smile] I'm pretty sure that's where it comes from.

[ladybro]

If they think 'bickering' makes two people the perfect couple? [ she chuckles. ] They're in for a nasty surprise.

[beathach]

Mm, well . . . [a shrug] We've given up trying to stop those rumors. There's no point.

[ladybro]

What? No crack of the whip?

Nah, that'd just encourage them. Giving them no reaction is the best course of action.

[ladybro]

Fair enough. [ ... ] That's how I had to deal with the press, too, growing up.

[beathach]

Ugh, the press. [his nose wrinkles briefly] But - why did you have to deal with them? If I may ask.

[ladybro]

Ask you most certainly may. [ a waggle of her fingers; she's not coy about part of her life. not really. ] My family's pretty recognizable around, uhm, the Upper East Side. Showing up in the social pages and dodging a few paparazzi come with the territory. Some days, it felt like I was answering 'so who are you wearing?' before I could even walk my first carpet.

Huh. [he didn't actually picture Kate as coming from that background, so he does look a bit surprised] Wait - they actually ask that?

They do when you wear designer. [ ... ] Truth is, I've never been low profile. Socialite or superhero, it's just a different kinda press.

I can't really picture it . . . we're - uh, pretty low profile.

[ladybro]

Bishop Publishing has a building that's pretty prominent on the NYC skyline. [ ... ] But so, too, do the Avengers. Low profile has been something I'm working on, lately.
