[ Well the ship could only stay empty but for her captain for so long. And I'm sure the audience is just DYING to know what happens when these older folks show up and find their ship is captained by a 17-year-old with an attitude problem.

Let the games begin... ]

[ it all happens so fast that lioriley doesn't even have time to think properly. she hears - sees him, too - koltira enter the medical bay, opens her mouth to greet him and then... he does that. ]

Wh-- What are you doing?!

Testing.

[His gaze keeps ranging around the room, in search of something he can use.]

I need one of the kits.

One of the-- [ she hesitates for only a moment before quickly darting across the room, grabbing one of the first aid kits and yanking it open. ]

This will do little, in the long term, ser. I could heal you properly, if you would prefer. [ please say yes you're bleeding all over stuff. ]

[He glances at the kit, then back to her. Shrugs.]

If you insist.

[He offers his bloody hand with no apparent urgency, nor care for the dark streaks disappearing beneath the sleeves of his tunic.]

[ don't worry, lioriley seems to be concerned enough for the both of them. she quickly shoves the kit aside, steps closer to koltira and takes a hold of his hand with one of her own. the other hovers over the self-inflicted wound, her fingertips shimmering with a pale blue light as she begins to heal him.

it won't take long for the cut to begin to close, and he may feel a tingly, warm sensation on his palm. ]

Whatever would you need to 'test' to do that to yourself?

[Although the wound closes, Koltira doesn't seem to enjoy the process. His ears fall and press back against either side of his head, like an aggravated cat. He grits his teeth, grimacing, but makes no sound or reply until she's finished.]

Because I am--not--normal.

[ lioriley retracts her hands slowly, only to reach for a nearby cloth so she can wet it, and - if allowed - at least attempt to clean the blood from the other elf's hand and arm. ]

What do you mean by that?

[He exhales, not out of necessity, but out of relief that the spellcasting has finished. He doesn't seem to mind her attention to the dried blood, though his muscles are taut and tense.]

My body is not made of living tissue.

[ she sets to work; carefully wiping away the blood from his skin. when he speaks, she doesn't even bother to glance up at him. ]

Then what, might I ask, is it made of in place of living tissue?

My body is held together through necromancy. [And some other magic. He's not really sure. It's at least 70 percent necromancy, though.]

[ now she looks up at him, brows furrowed slightly. ] Held together through -- How is that possible?

[Dryly, as he taps just beneath one of his brightly glowing, ice-blue eyes.]

Magic most foul.

[ she cringes. ] ... And what would happen, if you were to be freed of such foul magic?

Such freedom is not possible.

Not at all? [ what a terrible life that must be. she curls her fingers into his arm briefly - retracts them only when she realizes what she's doing and focuses instead on cleaning the now bloodied cloth. ]

I still do not know what you intended to prove when you cut yourself, though. Did you think your body would respond differently?

[Were he alive, he'd inhale sharply, or blush, or give some other physical indication of the shame he feels at someone touching him. As it stands, he does and says nothing.

His ears twitch, almost imperceptibly.]

Yes. I had wondered.

I see. I apologize for potentially hindering your experiment - but I simply could not sit idly by and watch you bleed; no matter what you are made of. [ old habits and all that. ]

No matter. If the ship has a healer, I would know the effect of that magic as well.

[He yanks down his sleeve; smooths the cuff down at the wrist.]

And I do. My thanks.

You are welcome. [ she watches him, a faint smile finally curving her lips upward. ]

That was easily the most memorable meeting I have had thus far on the ship... and I have not even gotten your name.

[He's not sure if 'memorable' is a good thing or a bad thing in this context. As such, he clears his throat awkwardly.]

It's Koltira.

[ it's good. she has a hard time thinking negatively about people. ]

It is a pleasure to meet you, Koltira - circumstances notwithstanding. [ she bows her head now, ] I am Lioriley.

[He'd shake her hand, but he never presumes that people can tolerate touching him. Instead, he inclines his head to one side; a brief, subtle nod.]

I'll remember your help.

Good. And should you require it again, do come and see me, will you?
