[Welcome to the SS Blameless! The crew is small and two of them will be invisible to most people, but hey, we have a dog. That alone makes us the best ship. No, really.

Come in, come in! Congratulate the two new captains! (Marriage jokes? Oh, those go on that table over there, thank you.) Also we have a motherfucking lounge now, which will come with all the games bought in a waystation.

It's time for strip poker. Or, you know, space Uno. Whichever is less dangerous.]

[Have you enjoyed the basket gifts? Shiro has! He's sitting at the dinner table, drinking tea from his new mug, eating some gummies and inspecting what it seems to be a set of... pocket chess?

[Shiro is near the entrance of their new lounge, hands on his hips as he takes in all the different furniture and the unstable table. Buying those game has been a good idea after all, there isn't much in here... yet?]

Maybe we should stick to the card and boards games and save the ping pong for the cargo hold.

[Shiro was, as always, the first one to wake up, and he's already done his morning exercise routine. After freshening up, it's time to... well, relax, she said. He's never tried yoga before, but he's done some meditation - this can be a little bit like that, he images. (Besides, it means spending a bit more time with her, alone. Not that they need it, but-- oh, where would that thought even come from? Riding Black with her in his calibration room has left an impression on him for some reason.)

He enters the cargo bay wearing comfortable clothes, but always with long sleeves. Always. Not even exercise changes that. Before approaching his friend, though, he stops to give certain four legged boy the bully rub he deserves.]

Hey, buddy. You're gonna join us for yoga too?

[D. Closed to the other Voltrons]

[Having dinner with everyone is the best thing that could happen after the mess that has been calibrations. It's almost like being home again, having a loud but fond bunch of people with him at the table. He could show them the ship he's slowly becoming attached to, and get Lucky tired with some teenagers to play with, too. (And they'll get to properly meet her, a little voice in his head says that he promptly ignores.)

When his friends arrive, though, he doesn't take them to the kitchen yet. First he has something to give them.]

Here. [He says as he hands them two sets of plushies.] There are enough for everyone.

[Well, except Keith already has his copies, so with a little smile, he tells him instead.] Do you want a second mom to jump in your defense?

[tempredmental]

A second-? Ah, no. I'm good. [Keith shook his head, mildly amused.] Thanks.

[Wow, the joke has been accepted! And Keith is even a bit amused! Success? Nah, he's probably still a bit shaken after calibrations. Shiro can't blame him, honestly.]

No problem. How have you been doing? Everything fine in the Huntress when you returned?

[ kate does yoga chic with a certain aplomb. she might argue that it comes part and parcel with her relocation to california, but the truth is that she's always lived just about on the bleeding edge of effortlessly trendy. having money always helped; she could have afforded to dress like she didn't try too hard to be so on point.

in the fleet, it's a little more of a challenge. especially with winn gone, and she can no longer plunder his skills with a needle and thread. nevertheless, she makes do. and when shiro walks in, she's abandoned her longer sleeves to a puddle of pastel pink on the floor next to her mat. she's in the pigeon pose, stretching out a hip. and when she sees him, her concentration melts away into a smile. ]

He's only good for downward dog, I'm afraid. [ it's a bad joke; she doesn't care. ]

Seems like it. We didn't have a lot of changes, and it looks like all our crew made it through.

[He glanced around.]

Anything changed here?

[He didn't even say "I'm doing fine" but Shiro won't push.]

We got a lounge, although it isn't that impressive. [Totally mentioning that first on purpose. So casual, not big deal. And then!] And I'm co-captain now.

[padadin]

[The smile is returned, chuckle included. There never are enough dog jokes, honestly. There never is enough of her carefree mood in the morning, either.

Lucky gets a few more belly rubs and a promise to be taken for a run when they arrive to the right planet for it before Shiro finally leaves him to his own and approaches Kate, who is... ah. Quickly looking away now, and that makes him frown a bit at himself. Women have always exercised in the same gym space back at the Garrison, why would this be any different?

He's being really dumb today. Post calibration jeeves, he supposes. Concentrate on the task at hand, Shiro!]

I think I can be a better student than him, Miss Katherine. [See, he can make bad jokes too.] Where do you want me?

[ lucky offers up a pleasant and growly groan -- happy with the attention, and happier still to stay flopped in place with his spine aligned with the edge of a cargo crate. his head settles on the floor again once shiro moves onward, jowls puddling. it may be early, but it seems the dog is in no state yet to display much energy. he's lounging.

kate, on the other hand, is bristling with energy. she notices the way shiro averts his gaze and -- well, it's not the first time shes made note of his chivalrously diverted attention. mostly, it makes her laugh; she figures he's just being polite. for her part, her looks are far more exactly. she doesn't leer; she's not that bad. but she doesn't shy away from the sight of him.

she pats the space of bare floor next to her mat. ]

Grab a spot. Hope you don't mind that I started without you -- but if you call me 'Miss Katherine' again, [ she grins, ] I might have to exile you from this session.

[It's nice, he has to admit, to have a fellow morning person. It's not often that his idea of morning exercise isn't met with a groan. And her looks? Have never made him uncomfortable, which is way more than he can say for other girls and boys that used to look at him back on Earth. Indeed, she doesn't leer, so he doesn't get it. (Admire away, Kate.)

The reaction to the nickname is met with amusement too, and he sits with his legs crossed right where she asked. If this is going to be part of their morning routine (since when do they have a morning routine?) maybe he should get a mat too.]

I've already exercised, so who started without who is relative. [He arches an eyebrow.] Can you exile your fellow captain?

Engineering

When Gil finally does arrive at his assigned ship, he pretty much books it right to engineering so he can get familiar with the place and he stays there for a long good while.

If someone wants to come say hello, he's happy to be friendly as ever, but he has a lot of catching up to do if he's going to understand anything about this ship.

[Eventually Gil realizes he needs food so he stumbles out from his work and makes his way to the mess hall when he sees Shiro. He pauses at the game.]

It's not my game of choice but I've been known to take a stab at it from time to time.

[He doesn't mind the distraction, so he settles at the table.] As long as you promise to play poker the second we get a chance.

[ladybro]

Maybe. Probably. Since I was captain first, maybe that gives me the authority to boot your butt off the rosters.

[ fightin' words -- but sweetly meant, certainly. her smile suggests as much. with a sigh, she releases herself from the pigeon pose and sits with her legs stretched out ahead. limbs loose, except for when she reaches her arms up above her head in an indulgent sort of stretch. something in her spine pops pleasantly. ]

But maybe I'll let you off with a warning. This time.

Captain Kate turns up before long -- grabbing hold of the doorway to engineering and using that grip like an anchor as she swings a step forward. Aside from their less tangible crewmates, it'd been just her and Shiro for so long. It's odd, almost, to see someone in engineering again.

Odd, but not unwelcome.

"Hey," she signals her intention for a chat. "Settling in alright?"

[padadin]

[He smiles and gives Gil a nod before starting to set up the little board. It's been a really long time since he played, but thankfully he still remembers the whats and the hows.]

I just bought some card decks for the lounge so I wouldn't mind that. I haven't touched any kind of board game in forever. [And he likes them, his tone implies.] Gil, right?

[padadin]

I wasn't aware of that. Next time you propose something, I'll make sure to read the fine print.

[If you fight him with words, then of course he'll fight back! Her movements are watched closely, thinking he will have to start copying her soon and-- then her spine pops. He can't help wincing a little bit - he's no expert but...]

Isn't yoga supposed to prevent that?

You spend enough time in and out of emergency rooms -- [ kate answers without an ounce of chagrin. no pride, either. it's a simple fact of being (nearly) a card-carrying avenger with no powers. ] And you get used to some funny tweaks and pops. Yoga helps.

[ it's a motive behind the ritual that she'd not even explained to winn while they'd been meeting for classes on the iskaulit. because, back then, she'd been using the classes to build up his self-esteem -- he didn't need to hear about how many bones she'd broken or ribs bruised. hell, some of her teeth are some very expensive and very convincing fakes. ]

[A fact he knows pretty damn well, even if for him is "alien hospitality deck" instead of "emergency rooms". With his eyes full of sympathy, he nods.]

You've been here for a while though - the human body has a habit of not forgetting those tweaks, huh. [Another thing he knows from his own experience. His tone says so, although it's probably not necessary. She's smart, he knows, and she knows his life, she can put two and two together.] When we arrive to the planet, maybe you can come running with me. Lucky too.

Wait... co-captain? Is that a thing they do here?

[So much for learning to share during calibrations, huh? Shiro nods.]

They do. A ship can have up to two captains, although they still give you just one captain room.

[tempredmental]

[This wasn't as big of a deal? It was just fallout from the whole thing. Nothing serious... it would pass...

Keith made a face.]

So, you'd be sharing with the other captain? Who's the other captain?

[padadin]

No, I'm just keeping my regular room, I don't need more than that. And that way Kate can be more comfortable with Lucky.

[AND NOBODY IS SURPRISED! Maybe this is the right time to confess your crimes, Keith.]

Kate. She's the co-captain?

[Keith frowned a bit.]

The girl who gave you the watch... and she's sharing a cabin with someone else...

[He might be a little confused here.]

[He raises an eyebrow. He doesn't know if being concerned or amused at Keith's conclusions. Probably 50-50.

...but since calibrations left him confused as hell and he doesn't want to think about that, let's go with amused.]

Yes, just like I did back home.

Who were you sleeping with back home- Wait! You didn't tell me you slept with her!

That's right. [He offers a smile as he responds to his name.] And you're...?

[He hasn't learned everyone's names yet, but he'll get there.]
