[ And she takes his photo before she angles it out towards the ocean. She doesn't want to take too many - she's not sure if it's film or not and she doesn't want to waste what he has - but two should be okay, right? ]

Oh, no, I don't mean videos. I mean we take a photo and the print out of it moves, on the newspapers or in a frame.

[ She glances over with a small smile. ]

[She's welcome to take as many as she likes. Even if it were film - it's not - he would gladly let her use it all up if she enjoyed it.]

Really? That's awesome! I wish mine could do that.

[What would those battle shots look like if they could move? Or the sunsets over Duscae? All those shots of the ocean could have been a single shot of the waves moving.]

[ It's been a long time since Hermione has done something as idle as just sitting and taking photos, enjoying the scenery - she's always made herself be so busy and rushed off her feet that taking a break feels almost too much. ]

I wish I knew the magic behind it so that I could do it for you. It's not something I ever learned.

[ She was too busy fighting in a war, but... Maybe it wouldn't be so hard to try it out on a few photos... ]

[This is good. It's always good to take some time and stop and take things in, no matter how chaotic things might be. He sometimes worried that his habits were annoying to the others - his need to backtrack to a scenic overlook or get in just few more photos in before moving on. But they indulged him, always. He's not sure his sanity would have lasted without breaks between battles and hunts and constant running.]

Will you need my camera? [He takes it back from her, but seems willing to (reluctantly) hand it back if that's what she needs. He has his cell phone. The quality isn't as good, but he could content himself with that, if he had to, for a little while.]

If we can find one in a shop somewhere that's close to it I could use that instead? As long as I can get the magic right it doesn't matter what camera I use for practice.

[He bounces like he might dart away any second to do just that.]

I'm sure we can! There's electronics shops all over the place.

[ It's... Oddly precious and Hermione can't do more than smile. ]

We could go now, if you'd like?

Yeah! [He's halfway up before he pauses, mind whirling a mile a minute.] Are you sure? We don't have to. I can do it later, if you wanna stay on the beach longer. It's fine.

No, I don't mind. [ She's quick to push herself to her feet, stretching her arms up. ] The beach will be here when we're done.

Okay! [He scrambles to join her in standing. If she's really alright with it...] I know just where to start. It's not too far from here either.

Okay. [ Hermione sorts her things out, tying her hair up out of her face, and then she steps forward. ] Let's go. I'm trusting you to show me the way.

No problem! I got a job making deliveries, so I'm getting used to getting around.

[He takes a few steps ahead of her, but only so he can turn and walk backwards until she's caught up. There may be a bit of skipping involved.]

I keep getting lost with all the people around.

[ At least she has someone to lead her, right now, and she follows after him quite happily. ]

There's just so... Much.

It is pretty chaotic here. [Which is why, as soon as they leave the beach for the more populated areas, he sticks close so they aren't separated.] I grew up in a big city. Not this big, but ... I miss it.

[ She's glad for that, at least. At least being with someone else means there's less chance she's going to end up getting lost. ]

It must be nice if you're used to it. Do you miss your home a lot?

Yeah, I...a lot yeah.

[He does miss it. He misses the park where he took his runs in the morning. The old grocery with the cheap produce by his house. The arcade with the threadbare carpet and weird smell. Noct's swanky apartment. And he is never going to see any of it again. Not because he's here, on some weird space adventure. Even if he goes home, he will never see any of it again.

His smile feels wobbly, but he clears his throat and points forward.] It, um, should be right up ahead.

[ Hermione hesitates for a moment before she tugs Prompto to one side, away from the crowds, her hands reaching out to find his. She's not here to upset him and she realises that she has, glancing up with a careful, concerned expression. ]

I miss my home too. I'll get to go back, eventually, but it's not the world I was born in. I'm going to lose that one forever, so... I understand about missing it. If you want to talk about it... I - I might not understand completely, but...

[ She's trying. ]

[Confused, he lets her move them off the side. His hands hang loosely in hers at first, but as she speaks, he returns her hold. The smile is gone, and there's a lump in his throat.]

I don't know what to say. Except thank you. I ... I would like that...

Then we can do it. I'll work on the camera and we can work on talking, too.

[ She feels bad, though, and it shows on her face, soft and a little sheepish. ]

Yeah. Sounds good.

[He nods, brightening up a little. And he gives her hands a squeeze. She looks like she could use some comfort too. He doesn't want her to feel bad. She couldn't have known he would be upset by her question. It wasn't her fault.]

Camera first though. I wasn't kidding. It really is right up ahead.

Then let's go and do that.

[ Her fingers slip away from his and she nods her head. There's time for the sad things later, she thinks, if Prompto wants to talk. For now, she can focus on doing something good for both of them. ]
