To everyone involved with that dragon that showed up, listen--did anyone find a gemstone near his body? A necklace, maybe?

[Oh, goodie, that sounds like Robin. Not his favorite person.]

I suppose it entirely depends on what your business is with it.

"His body"? Don't tell me—did someone kill it?

That's what it looks like.

[oh, goodie, it's encrypted. even if Dorian is bluffing and doesn't have it--he can talk about Tek's secrets without worrying about blowing his big secret weakness to the whole fleet.]

He's supposed to be one of the people in this fleet. His soul is in that gem. If it doesn't get back to a body soon, it's going to get torn apart.

He won't just be dead, he'll be permanently obliterated. I can't let that happen.

[Axel felt the strange disturbance, but decided he was pointedly Not Getting Involved. He's had enough dealings with dark things for a lifetime, thanks very much, and he hightailed it back to the volcano and his ship as soon as people started going for their pitchforks.

[You can practically hear his arched eyebrow, though.]

Looking for a classy necklace to go with your perfume bottle, are we?

[He weighs the options here. Either he can leave it and let the person-as-dragon to be obliterated, or he could return it.

Dorian has a good sense of wrong, and letting whoever it was be permanently destroyed and erased ticks that "wrong" category. So he sighs softly.]

So who is it, then? Anyone I might have known?

[Robin only knows Jove by proxy, but... they must have all been surprised when the dragon turned back into someone from the fleet, especially Jove. he bites down a natural want to insist that it wasn't Tek's fault.]

Has he spoken to you, yet?

[That confirmed that, then. Dorian hadn't seen him fall up close, decay starting to set in by the time he reached the corpse and took the stone from where it had been.]

We've spoken several times before. When I arrived, at the gala...

[His voice is warm with his own sarcastic wit.]

I mean the stone.

[he is, unfortunately, not in much of a mood to find it funny.]

I've generally not found rocks to be good conversationalists.

However, if he were, by chance, driving me mad with his incessant screaming, what do you suppose we do about it?

[Smoothly, as if they weren't discussing a soul stone.]

Barbarians. [Surprisingly, he's leaving it at that, a distracted pause wearing thin by the time he speaks again.] I'm no help with what you're looking for, but if anything else comes up—[he hesitates.]—Call me. A creature like that deserves better.

[just going to. sigh. a little.]

In the unlikely event that this was true, it would probably be best to do as he asks.

He needs a new body. I've only seen his kind use the deceased...

How are you always mixed up in the weird dangerous shit that's going on around here?!

[he hates to be such a downer, but his reply sounds especially dry and short.]

[he's... not sure how to take that. but he supposes it's good that Mattias is trying to help, even if he knows nothing of the situation. so it's only a short pause before he responds:]

I don't try to make a habit of it!

[a pause, and a short, frustrated sound.]

Though I suppose grave robbery doesn't go over any better in other cultures than it does in mine.

[The Mortalitasi had guidelines for the treatment of corpses, and they were often reverent, anointing them with oils, preserving them.

Dorian pauses.]

I may be able to help. I am a necromancer, after all, that might be useful to mention here. I may be able to bind the spirit to the physical plane for the most part, using an anchor. If we could find a part of a body, donated willingly, I would be willing to do it.

[he's so wound up that he's already halfway through thinking of... finding a way to just do it himself. he hardly needs Tek's influence to try saving him. but then--there's this possibility, which makes him pause in his frantic calculating and actually consider it.

What do you mean? What would he... be, then?

Much the same. I...knew someone, much like what I am suggesting. A little....well, he was a special case. But the point is that if I had an anchor, we would hardly need a full body.

[And then, almost reassuringly.]

The anchor is to bind him to something physical, but free from my influence, lest you grow concerned. I'm simply eager to have the screaming stop, you understand.

[And it was magic work he hadn't done, not a permanent summoning like this, and thus it intrigued him.]

His form would reflect his spirit, so he ought to be able to change between his forms at will, the same as I assume he was able to.

[it would be so much easier if they got a dead body. his return would be assured if he just... got that soul to a normal dead body, brought him back the same way that Saeliss came back. but...]

He could grow into a... [...things like Tek were supposed to have their forms for a reason; his soul was a dragon soul, and would almost assuredly take over whatever they attached him to, as such. it would just need to be big enough. just part of a body... might not be enough...

Robin gets quiet for a long time, but the silence is accompanied with a steady tapping of his finger against his device. he must just be thinking.]

...I might be able to provide an anchor. I've got a... Regenerative talent, of sorts, that I might be able to use to make something. It might even help contain his massive energy. It won't be like bringing back a human spirit, that's for sure...

So long as we don't attract the attention of demons, I'm certain I will manage.

[A pause.]
