Luna, Prompto, and Ignis have been very busy all day. They've each had their part in keeping Noctis busy, taking turns setting up a surprise party for the birthday boy. It's a glow in the dark one, too, how cool is that? They are in space, they wanted to have a stellar party for him. So what better way to make things glow for their birthday king? But a party can't be complete without a few alcoholic beverages. Ignis even whipped up an appropriately decorated a cake to go along with the glow-in-the-dark theme they've got. She is glad that they had the foresight to buy these things before they left the planet, all of the ingredients for the cake, the party decorations... everything.

She's made up a lie about 'training' in order to drag poor Noctis down to the cargo hold of all places. But the space is large enough for what they're using it for, and right now it's quiet. When she leads her confused husband down the stairs, it's then that the little party can be properly revealed to him. It may be small, but the trio has put a lot of thought into it. "Surprise, Noctis... happy birthday~!"

He has no idea what this is really about. He doesn't believe the 'training' thing for an instant and honestly, he suspects Luna's grown tired of their bed and is taking him to the cargo hold for sex now. He isn't going to argue it but he plays along for that reason... so imagine his surprise when she doesn't reveal she's got lingerie on but in fact... there are glow-in-the-dark decorations and food and his friends.

He looks stunned when they all three greet him and he grins. "Wow... thanks, guys..." another party so soon. Ignis cooked again... so soon. He grinned at the glow in the dark drinks.

"Twenty-one, finally." and now legally allowed to do what he'd been doing since he was sixteen. Don't pretend he hadn't drunk before. He just... looked around at it all and he felt so at home now. This was more than just their wedding, this was a ritual, Gladio wasn't here but this was their ritual. He felt more at home than ever.

"I had no idea... it's great."

Sorry. Not sex. But this is the next best thing, right!? Unlike the wedding, there are no fancy clothes to stop Prompto from giving Noctis a tackle greeting.

"Happy birthday, buddy!"

Suuuuuure the next best thing would be a birthday party and not making out.

He hugs his friend back though! It's been too long since they just tackled each other over video games or stupid shit. They used to push and shove each other all the time, a simple hug felt like he hadn't had one in forever.

"Thanks, man. You guys are great."

Luna is pretty damned pleased that this has all worked out. Mostly, she's glad that Noctis is able to get out of their room and spend some much needed time with his friends. Besides, she enjoys seeing them interact, it's something she was denied at home. But after a few hours, she's quick to slide back to his side with a big, wrapped present that he... may know what it is before he even unwraps it. Granted, it's still in a box, but still.

"I got you a little something, dear... I don't know if you'll like it or not, but I figure this is something you can't have too many of."

She settles the box down in front of him... when unwrapped and opened, it's a black and gold custom fishing rod. She knows he's already got one, but... well, a backup fishing rod never hurts, right?

Not that Ignis knows anything about sex, but he does enjoy smaller parties to the lavish affairs that they have to have for things like weddings and Noctis' birthday back in Insomnia.

Besides, it's good to see his friend and king so relaxed for the first time in a long time.

"Did you really think that we would let this day pass without some sort of celebration?"

Well, he doesn't need to think very hard to gather what it is. It's long and narrow... and it's the right length... and it's a perfect hobby toy holy shit it's a fishing rod! YES!.

It's his new favorite off the bat. She happened to get a very nice one and sure, his is the best of the best but he's a master fisherman who can use any rod. He loves the new one his wife got him. It's so pretty! She picked it! It's his now!

"I love it. Thanks, Luna... I can teach you now, I have two!" he looked eager as a puppy with a ball. He grinned at her. "We should try it when we're on a new planet."

She'd been a little bit nervous picking this particular rod out. To be fair, she knows absolutely nothing about fishing or fishing rods, but the person she'd bought it from assured her that her dearly beloved husband would capture many a space fish with this thing. All she'd seen was that it was black and gold and practically screamed Noctis when she first laid her eyes on it. As soon as she'd seen it, she didn't care how much it was. She was going to buy it, and she was going to give it to him... and she did.

So to see him so happy, it lifts that nervous weight right off of her chest and she actually looks just as relieved that he likes it as she feels. She just hopes it works as well as the salesman said... but Noctis knows what he's doing when it comes to fishing, so she's pretty sure he'll be alright with it.

"You're welcome, Noctis. I'm glad you like it..." His expression is perfect right now, and she's not going to say no to fishing lessons. "We can go fishing whenever you feel like it. Perhaps the next planet we head into will have a lake or something."
