Hi everybody. My name's Sorey; I'm First Mate on the Huntress, but uh...

[He pauses. Sighs and starts over.]

A lot of people are missing. People we love. People who we don't know if they'll be back; there's a chance, definitely, a good chance, but that doesn't mean the pain and fear and the grief will go away. Sometimes, it even gets worse. The uncertainty is almost as terrible as the loss itself.

I'll be conducting memorial services in the Interfaith Center for the next week, every day at noon. Anybody is welcome to attend. It won't be anything fancy; lighting candles and burning incense, tea, reading some things from texts I've picked up along the way. If you don't want to come but you'd like me to say something for you during the service, feel free to leave it here. I'll add it to everything.

Also, if you'd like to come by just to have some quiet, or for a listening ear, I'll be here most times. There's an area where you can pray or set up altars or anything that you'd find more comfortable; we just ask that you cover up any symbols you make when you finish. If you need any help building anything, please let me know, I've got a shop area back on my ship.

Religious ties aren't necessary, either, and there's a meditation room next door if you just need some space to think. Please come by if you need anything.

[Sorey can be found puttering about the Interfaith Center on most days during the current drift. He's usually in the kitchen, sometimes with Mikleo, as well as praying at the small elemental altar in a corner of the prayer chamber, separated from the lounge area by a curtain.

Sometimes he's curled up on one of the couches in the lounge with a book or a set of hand-drawn maps, frowning as he scribbles notes and erases lines.]

[It's been a while, but Zelda knows the way to the Interfaith Centre. After Sorey's message she makes her way there quietly, stepping into the space and taking a deep breath. When she peeks into the lounge and sees Sorey intent on his book, she smiles to herself.

Zelda announces herself by knocking lightly on the doorframe.]

[Sorey glances up at the sound, eyes widening when he spots Zelda and tossing his book aside onto the couch, jumping up and hurrying over to her to lay a hand on her arm.] Zelda! You're okay, you're awake! How- how are you feeling?

[Ochako shows up later than most might, tiptoeing in quietly and uneasily. For once she's dressed in dark clothes, as close to black as she could get, her hair tied back, and she's carrying a small box with her. She looks lost. She also looks like she's been crying a lot.]

[Sorey hears her at the door from the seraphim altar so he blows out the candle and flips the cover down before poking his head out into the lounge-

Oh geez. She looks so terrible, she must've-] Uraraka, [Sorey breathes out gently, immediately coming to her side to pull her into his arms because lords, she looks like she needs it.]

[she doesn't resist at all, practically melting into his hug like she'd needed it to breathe, though her responding touch is one-handed with the box still held by the other. she buries her face against his shirt, saying nothing, her small shoulders trembling, hand at his back clenched into a tight fist in his shirt. she just. she needs this, even just for a minute.]

[ He's only just woken but... ]

The little memorial tree garden is also open Sorey - feel free to let people know. I.. think my brother or cousin was maintaining it while I slept, but it is doing well, and won't mind visitors, if people want to sit and remember.

[Sorey doesn't try to shush her, doesn't try to get her to move; he remembers those first few days after, (after), and he feels his heart bleed for the grief in the way Uraraka trembles. He remembers Lailah's hands stroking his hair and he does the same for her, he remembers the softness of her skirts and he lets Uraraka lean against him.

She's always so chipper, so cheerful, always looking for the bright side that to see her like this- and she'd been there, for him. In those horrible, blackened, dark moments before Mikleo returned.

So Sorey just holds her until she's ready, wrapping himself around her small frame to try and shield her from further harm.]

Maglor! I'm glad to see you doing okay, how are you feeling? [He knows from personal experience it can be disorienting as heck waking up from an Atroma coma.]

Odd. [ He admits ]

It doesn't truly feel like I have been sleeping at all - no dreams. But I suppose I feel better rested, so taht is something. You took no hurt in the recent trouble?

No, I...my friends made sure I got back safely. [He's got some hangups about that.

Anyway,] I'll make sure to tell people about the garden as they come. Is there anything else you'd like them to know about it?

[ A soft breath ]

Mikleo and the others?

And not really - just to warn them that the tree is quite young still, and not to tread too close - we don't want to compact the soil too much.

[it takes a while and a lot of effort, but eventually she draws back, rubbing at her eyes.]

Enough... that's enough... you'll make me start crying all over again...

[like she hasn't been crying on him this whole time, like her eyes aren't a hellish red.]

...th-thank you...

[His voice is rough and he's got the video covered up for Reasons™ but he's alive at least.]

Can I just ask you to put in a prayer...word... or whatever for someone for me? Can't...really move.

[ Zaveid hasn't spent a lot of time at the center, mostly because he never really felt as though he had a place there - it was nothing to do with him and it was more Sorey and Mikleo's thing. Right now, though, he's head over to spend a little more time with Sorey, not that he would ever admit it, and he goes to settle down at his side near the couches, leaning back against the arm with a quiet hum. ]

Kinda nice in here.

[She's a little startled by how strong Sorey's reaction is - but of course, things have been dire while she slept. Reaching over to cover his hand with her own, she gives him a calm smile.]

I'm all right - thank you. Still tired, but no harm was done. I am sorry if I worried you.

Everybody else is okay, we made it back fine. [Mikleo wasn't even awake for it, poor guy. It's hard being invisible in a stampede] What about your family, are they all okay?

Don't mention it. [He can pretend you weren't crying if that's what you need.]

Here, leave your shoes on the rack there. [He's gonna get you some of Mikleo's cookies, you look like you need to eat buddy.] Wanna go sit down? I'll bring some tea out.

I can, absolutely. [But he's real concerned dude, you sound like s h i t] Do you need some help? I have friends who can heal you if you're hurt.

[Sorey was a little surprised to see him come by actually, not that he's ever going to refuse. With that last shred of discomfort between them finally gone, he can't help but bask in Zaveid's company unfettered from the persistent guilt and hesitation that always hung in the background like a bad smell.

When Zaveid settles down beside him Sorey peers at him past his book, grinning a little.] Thanks. I didn't change much from how it was before, but a friend helped me move things around. And Mikleo keeps a bunch of sweets and stuff in the kitchen if you want any.

[ It's not his usual sort of place and there's no hiding that; despite being a seraphim he has no real spiritual or religious connection to anything and his own creed is what kept him going throughout the years of being isolated from the world. It's different, though, being here with Sorey, and he's comfortable as he relaxes and closes his eyes. ]

I didn't come here to eat, Sorey! [ But he is tempted, and a grin flickers over his face. ] I could've just wanted a bit of quiet.

[yeah also he gets nervous when his friends go into comas]

It's okay, I was just a little concerned. Sometimes it can be really disorienting waking up from those. [Spoken from experience.] Did you want to use the prayer room?

N-no, I have to- I've already waited so long-

[hastily she nudges off her shoes and tucks them away, wiping surreptitiously at her eyes. hold it together, girl, you're being ridiculous.]

...I-is there a place I can set something up...?

[anybody want a food delivery? there's been the smell of something sweet in the kitchen for a while, and when Mikleo finally pokes his head out he has a platter of fresh goods on the counter, ready to replenish the supply for visiting folks who need a bite. It's mostly biscuits and some cookies- chocolate chip, strawberry thumbprint, and shortbread. Easy recipes that are suitable for a water seraph to bake without burning.]

Sorey, I'm done the next batch. Are you hungry? There's a few that ended up overcooked, they'll get hard if they're not eaten right away.

[Everybody's down in the dumps, so he's going to make sure that Sorey keeps his spirits high and his body fed, too.]

[Alphinaud had been hoping to grow a few plants in the med lab, but the sudden destruction of a planet and its people warranted trimming some of the blooms. They would probably fall off in a few weeks' time anyway, and he wasn't totally sure if the plant would bloom again. They're white and daffodil-like, which only reminds him of his fallen friends.

Maybe he's doing this for them, too.

He sits through one of Sorey's sessions, quiet and with a broken look. When Sorey is finished and everyone else has wandered off, he approaches Sorey.]

Excuse me, if you have a moment-- I wanted to thank you for your words. Is there a place to leave these? [He draws his small fingers through the bouquet.] They resembled the flowers we use on Eorzea to remember those who have passed, so I thought I would bring some.

That is well.

[ Maglor nods ]

Mm, apparently having me unconscious was very helpful - it meant they stayed by my side as much as possible.

[ Else Maglor doesn't put it past Fingon to have lived up to his Valiant moniker and stayed until too late, which would inevitably have meant Maedhros would as well ]

It seems a lot of folk have been sleeping, of late. I need to check on Daeron, no one has heard from him in weeks.
