They had started their decent, despite Keith's reservations after his visit to the surface with Shiro the other day. Everything about this whole thing felt wrong on so many levels, and Keith had those damn feelings of dread back again that had come with the dreams. Don't land. Run away. Help. And it was making him super agitated. His reluctance to go back to the surface ended up with the Huntress towards the back of the group that was heading down... which ended up being to their advantage when the weapons fire started. He gave a started yell, and immediately pushed the ship to max. The Fleet scattered in an attempt to get cover and/or escape. On the nav sensors, Keith could see other ships going down, but he was focused on getting his own out of the atmosphere first.

It was a bumpy ride. Sorry. But, he was doing his best. The incoming attacks were strong and hard to dodge, each volley stronger than the last. They took some fire, but it wasn't crippling damage, thankfully, and the ship managed to dodge and climb its way back into orbit.

It had been another run for their lives... and Keith leaned heavily on the console for a moment before remembering seeing those other ships going down.

"Quiznak," he growled, hitting the comm to open a channel. It was bad. Really bad. He wasn't even sure if this was going to get through, but he sure as heck was going to try.

Hello? Is anyone there? Everyone, check in. What ships are still up? Who's on the sur-? AAUGH!

[He was working hard to keep the panic from his tone, but the screech cut him off mid-broadcast, and then everything went dark, the ship dropping to only emergency functions. He listened hard for a response before finally saying something again.]

He looked over at the comm to see if there was anything coming through. His own console was completely unresponsive. Did he look worried? Because he was worried.

"I got nothing... we're drifting."

And not in the good 'moving to another planet' way...

Keith - Keith! Is everyone all right on your ship?

[There is the silent 'wahwah' of the emergency sounds coming through, and Tyrion coughs a little.]

I don't know if everyone else is all right on my ship -- but I am continuing to breath. Mostly.

Eleanor Hume, reporting from the Wonderduck. We've taken heavy damage, but we're still drifting. What's your--

[There's a moment of panic when the broadcast cuts off and the emergency sirens sound. This is bad, moreso than normal, and Eleanor can tell.]

Can you hear me?

I think so? We're still working that out. We've got no power.

[He just hoped they were at a good enough orbit to not get flung out into space or drop back to the planet's surface. No matter what happened, he wasn't going to be able to get it back into position if they didn't have engines.]

Are you hurt?

I hear you. We're down to emergency systems only. Are you okay?

[Well shit, Kaname knows this one! He should recognize the voice, not panicking, but definitely in business mode.]

Keith? It's Kaname. Wha-- [Some static, so she waits and tries again.] What's your status?

[Mikleo isn't much use on the bridge overall - can't pilot, can't fix equipment, can't make adjustments for communication - but he can check radar screens and give the bridge and extra pair of eyes to watch what's going on outside, so he's there throughout the duration of the attack. As the ship stutters and fails, he approaches the nearest console, poking at some buttons to try and trigger a restart. It's better than just standing there.]

Not good... I do not want a repeat of what happened last time.

[It's after Eleanor manages to make contact- and after the horrible sirens have stopped blaring in the Wonderduck that Lumière makes an appearance. ]

Are you hurt? Or any of your crew?

[Priorities. ]

Yes, we're down to emergency systems, too, but everyone on our ship is relatively unharmed. Have you heard anything from the rest of the fleet?

Yes I am working on that on our end as well - and ...

[A heavy sigh, before he shook his head. Then winced.]

Yes. But it will heal. I am more worried about those down on the surface.

Same. Did you see which ships went down?

[There was definitely worry in Keith's tone. He hadn't heard from any of his teammates from home or Shay.]

People are checking in slowly. Communications are spotty.

Do you have engine power?

Emergency systems only. No engines. Spotty comms.

[He rattled it off quickly and concisely. Someone else had emergency training, too.]

We have a few injuries on board, but everyone seems relatively okay.

[Apparently, two of the elves randomly disappeared during the attack, which had left the other two mourning the losses, but at least it wasn't death? Keith wasn't sure if that was worse or better.]

What about you guys? Are you in orbit?

Me, neither...

[Keith echoed that sentiment.]

I'm getting some responses, but we lost a few ships. Can you tell who's in orbit and who crashed?

[He looked over, having seen Mikleo watching the sensors and radar.]

[Keith knew that voice. The accent was hard to miss.]

We have some minor injuries, but I think we're all okay. We're down to emergency systems and the comms are pretty spotty. I don't have navigational control, and our engines are out.

What's your status?

Good. [There's a pause, maybe from interference or her own feelings on the matter.]

Bloodsport went down. Shuttle did, too. I think they landed separately, it was hard to tell. I'm on the Iskaulit right now.

Already looking into what could be sent down to assist them.

Largely the same, our ships are down to emergency systems too.

Two of our crew were visiting other ships when we were attacked, and both of those went down.

Are there others with you on the Iskaulit?

[Less people crashed on the surface was better.]

Also, I can't get through to any one down there. No responses. Just static and interference. I don't think we can use the teleporters to get stuff down there.

We might have to figure out drops.

[Keith frowned, considering that for a moment.]

Did you see which ships?

[He was trying to figure that out. He hadn't seen them himself. He just knew some had, but not specifically which ones.]

I can't reach anyone on the surface.

The Tourist and the Blue Fish.

[He had been keeping an EYE on those ones for that exact reason. There's a certain degree of worry that's seeping through his usually optimistic tone. ]

Me either. I can't even get to their communicators. I have tried everything I can think of.

No, unfortunately. I think the only way we will be able to find out is by figuring out who we can contact up here. Who else has checked in?

[To what there could be at least.]

Yes. It seems like all our vital systems are online, and that we should be stable for the time being.

[Eleanor pauses. There's something she has a bad feeling about, but she's hesitant to ask. With that many shuttles being shot down...]

Is all of your crew accounted for?

Hang on, it's still- okay, coming back now.

[Mikleo scans over the screen, counting off, getting more and more worried by what he sees - or doesn't see - by the second.]

Seven ships... I can't find seven of the ships anymore. We lost that many!?

[There was a pause and some talking in the background as Keith was checking in with several people at once. He got the report from Mikleo.]

We've got seven ships down. That's like half the Fleet.

[His voice sounded worried.]

Did you guys take any hits?

Well, I've heard from people on the Iskaulit, you're on the First Breath, and the Wonderduck so far. Counting the Huntress, we should still have eight Fleet ships in orbit, plus the Iskaulit and the Marsiva, if what we can see on our radar here is correct.

I've heard from others that the Bloodsport, the Blue Fish, and the Tourist have gone down. That means four are missing, but we're still not positive on which ones. Kaname also mentioned she saw at least one shuttle go down, too, which means there might have been others. The ships that made it might not be fully manned if some of their crew are stranded on the surface with crashed shuttles.
